I don't think they should though. I mean, obviously you have a right to instill your religious and moral beliefs in your children, but I don't think that extends to taking actions that carry a very real and concrete threat of serious harm or death, just like you can't beat the crap out of them because you believe in firm punishment. Children aren't their parents' property, they are human beings with their own rights, and since they don't yet have the capacity to make their own decisions we as a society have a duty to protect them. Usually we delegate that duty to the parents, but when the parents are failing in that duty I believe society has an obligation to step in.

Okay, just making sure. Sometimes it seems like Americans are bigger on the idea of free expression than Europeans. (That's one of my biases.)

I completely agree vaccination of children should be mandatory. You have a right to decide what treatments you want done for yourself, but I don't think you should be able to inflict stupid decisions like that on your kids.

Yeah, if that was actually the beginning of the game it's pretty shitty, especially compared to ME2's badass opening. I'm hoping there's at least a cutscene or something before that part that sets it up better.

Evolution doesn't favor things that are "better", it's just a result of certain traits being successful. Dogs that had traits humans liked have been pretty damn successful. If humans were to be suddenly gone those traits would not be nearly as beneficial to their survival, and many many dogs would die out, leaving those that were sufficiently suited to the new environment to be able to continue reproducing.

Completely beside the point of the article, but I really hate the saying "It's 'freedom of religion' not 'freedom from religion.'" IT'S NEITHER! And it's BOTH! It's "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof." The "freedom of religion" saying? That's the "free exercise" part. The "freedom from religion" thing? That's the "respecting an establishment" part. FFS!

If you breast feed like you're supposed to it lasts a year or more. I don't think it's right to refuse to treat a kid for an ear infection because the kid's parents won't let you give them the MMR vaccine. It's not like vaccines are the only thing pediatricians do, and I think it's shitty of them to refuse all treatments because the parents refuse one specific type of treatment.

Just because it comports with your views (and mine) doesn't make it unbiased. You think those things are fine, I think those things are fine, other people do not think those things are fine, the show obviously thinks those things are fine, so the show is biased in favor of our views. Just like I'm biased toward liking a show like that as opposed to something like Seventh Heaven. Everyone's biased in some way, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. It only becomes bad if you become unable to recognize your own biases.

There's enough slack on my mouse cord hanging off behind my desk that it always pulls whatever is on my desk straight, so I don't have the problem with it looping up and pushing on things, but it's not heavy enough to resist me pulling it back. It's kind of perfect.

Unless you're using your kb/m from across the room, I don't really see the appeal of wireless. It just seems like more of a hassle. Now, once we've got wireless power in our houses as well I might change my tune.

Well I'm definitely not buying Alan Wake now. Not because $30 is too much, but because it's too much for a DD game, and apparently no retailer is carrying the physical copy for PC.

I like the official MS ones cause I can charge them while I play and I don't have to worry about having replacements ready to go. Though apparently I've been a lot luckier than most people, I've had two official MS battery packs for about 5 years now, one of them died after 3 years but the other is still going strong.

Also, check the update to this article: they knew about the problem, tried to fix it, thought they had fixed it, found out after launch that some people still had the problem. This whole thing reeks of shitty games journalism.

When I think "Mass Effect music" I think of either the start screen theme from ME1 or the galaxy map theme from ME1.

The younger ones are unvaccinated because they are still protected by their mother's immunity. I don't think it's right to punish kids for their parents stupidity, and I think that's exactly what this practice is doing. And just because they refuse one type of treatment doesn't make them "not your patients".

Many Christians do pick and choose what they consider to be sinful, though. To go back to the same trite example, most Christians wouldn't consider it a sin to wear a cotton/polyester blend.
