They're 5 feet, which requires me to sit entirely too close to the TV when it's charging. It's fine when I'm playing on the monitor.

Do we get to faff about with our weapons (TWSS?) in the multiplayer section? I really want to see how the equipment system works.

I'll buy a 3rd party controller if I can find one I like, but in my experience the only ones comparable to the first party controllers tend to be just as expensive if not more so. For instance, I love the 360 controller, it's sticks feel just right to me, I've never found another controller that has the right amount of tension and deadzone in the sticks. It's to the point where I actually bought an adapter to let me plug a wired 360 controller into the PS3 (so I guess in that sense I bought it as a 3rd party controller...). Wireless isn't that important to me. I mean, it's handy, but most of the time I play with my console on my desk connected to a computer monitor, so the distance isn't an issue. *Edit* - Madbass, I've never had one of the silver 360 controllers, so I can't speak to them, but I've never had that problem with any of the white or black 360 controllers I have.

Interesting interpretation, but I don't know that I'm convinced that was actually the intent (difference between allegory and applicability). For instance, I could point out that the movie makes the point that the only reason the villain became a villain was because the "Supers" thought they were better than everyone else and wouldn't let him help.

The article seemed to think it was because they have too many patients to justify the time and effort necessary to deal with difficult patients.

I don't think that's really a good thing. You're not helping the kids by refusing to treat them, even if their parents are making bad decisions.

I agree it's a complex subject, but there is one thing in here that I see pop up a lot that's just incorrect: no one's getting kicked out of (public) schools for praying. You can pray in school all you want and no one will/can stop you (though you might get in trouble for not paying attention or if you're praying in a disruptive manner, i.e. praying aloud in the middle of class). The only thing that's not allowed is school-sponsored prayers. Also, I wanted to add in my last post but forgot: I accidentally downvoted one of Yant's posts above. I was trying to click to see who had up-voted it just out of curiosity, but I missed and hit the down-vote button instead. I'm sorry.

With the cross thing: if your'e marking a specific person's death, I am absolutely fine with a cross on public land. Not because crosses are a secular symbol, they are not, they are a Christian symbol, but I'm okay with it because they are representing the religion of that person who died, and religion is a very important factor in how people understand death. Now, I might think it was weird/insensitive if it was a Jewish officer who died and they put up a cross, they should instead put up something like what the military does with crosses for Christians, Stars of David for Jews, star and crescents for Muslims, etc.

I'd say you could arguably call From Dust and that Ghost Recon game strategy games.

The specific understanding of the mechanics of evolution that we have is almost certainly flawed in some way, but that evolution occurs is an indisputable fact. Sort of like how relativity is almost certainly not 100% right in every way (and Newtonian physics definitely isn't), but no one's arguing that gravity doesn't exist. *Edit* - To deny evolution is to deny the existence of drug resistant bacteria, or the various breeds of dogs.

When you suggested it be a lady my first thought was how awesome it would be to actually play the part of something like the Cortesans to sneak into areas, rather than just surrounding yourself with them. One problem I see, from a lore perspective: the Assassins are a Western organization, fighting the Templars, another Western organization... although now that I check "feudal Japan" extended into the late 1800's, so you could easily set it there but still be well after contact with the West.

I think the first one, which launched in 2007, was supposed to be set in late 2011 (don't have a source to back that up). I do remember though one of the guys at Ubisoft saying they have to get AC3 out this year though because the story is leading up to the December 2012 end of the world thing and it wouldn't make any sense for the game to come out after that. I liked it. Combat felt a bit better than ME2, which was miles better than ME1. I would have liked to see it open up more like ME1 and not be such a corridor shooter, but oh well. I neither liked nor disliked the parts with the kid. Basically, I didn't have anything against any part of the demo, though I wish they had showed us the weapons and armor systems. Oh well, we should be able to get a peek at that once the multiplayer unlocks, assuming the system's the same between the two.

I'm not sure what the difference between "Future" and "Present Day" is. The series is apparently revolving around the end of the world in 2012, so the present has caught up with the game time.

I always pronounced it "Loo-min-ess" because I had a friend who knew how to pronounce it, otherwise I probably would have pronounced it "Loo-mins". As for Nier, I've always read it like "near".

Yeah, the issue isn't employers refusing to allow their employees to get certain procedures, it's employers refusing to provide health care plans that cover those procedures. Since most Americans get their health coverage through their employer and cannot afford to get an individual plan it means that those people can't get insurance coverage of those services. They can still get the services, but they have to pay for them out of pocket. @Thursday: the argument is that if the Catholic hospital has to provide a health care plan that covers birth control then they're being forced to pay for something that's against their religion, thus they're not being allowed to freely exercise their religion. I don't agree, but I don't think the argument can just be casually dismissed either.
