  1. Well that would be annoying if I used Steam on more than one computer...
  2. "going off" (UK) = "going on" (US)
  3. It only works with Intel processors though, right?
  4. I'm surprised Halo Reach wasn't at least nominated for best original music, especially considering that both Fable III and Mass Effect 2 are on there. Music never seemed like an especially strong point of either of those games to me.
  5. Like dean, my favorite characters are all characters I've created. I don't think that counts, though, so I'll have to think about it some more.
  6. What state do you live in Enervation? In Kansas we have great roads. Even the minor highways are kept in great shape. I don't think it has anything to do with work ethic (and I actually find that assertion vaguely racist), I think it has everything to do with how much money the government is willing to spend on it.
  7. Yeah, US English and UK English are different dialects, not different languages. And I wasn't saying that "entree" means the main course in English as a whole, I was saying it means the main course in US English, and that's not "wrong". Just like it's not wrong that in the US "pants" means outerwear and in the UK it means underwear, it's just different.
  8. Je parle un peu de Francais. J'ai eu trois ans de le en ecole. I'm not sure I got all the conjugation right, and I didn't care enough to use accents, but there you go.
  9. Stuff will happen in 2012, perhaps even world-changing stuff, but it has nothing to do with the Mayan calendar, and it won't be the "end of the world."
  10. Again, origins are irrelevant. Sure it was a French word, but it has been adopted and given a new meaning, and is now an English word. Jebus guys, learn how language works.
  11. You're correct, that's why I said "100 years". The early twentieth century was approximately 100 years ago. Also the origins are irrelevant, what matters now is how it's used. You might want to check the American dictionary definition. As I said, if it's been used "wrong" for that long, it's not wrong anymore, that's just what it means.
  12. When a word is used "wrong" by an entire continent for 100 years it's no longer wrong, that's just what the word means there. It's not that Americans use it incorrectly, it's that it means something different here, as do so many things in this thread.
  13. Oooh! A hands on! I've been waiting for more info about this game.
  14. That's weird, you'd expect them to at least leave it down in the corner or something.
  15. Actually it's just that dates are cyclical in the Mayan calendar (their "long count" is just under 400 years) and 2012 is when it's next going to recycle and start over again.
  16. People actually have trouble understanding Brian Cox? I'm not even English and can understand him just fine. Good shows, btw.
  17. I remember that Bugs Bunny Birthday Blowout game, but it wasn't nearly as awesome as the Tiny Toon Adventures platformer I had.
  18. Like Johnny I can't be 100% sure it was actually the first, but the first one I remember was Super Mario Bros. 3.
  19. It should be, considering how badly it tore up his hand.
  20. It's too useful to turn off.
  21. I tried it, played it for about an hour and a half and lost interest.
  22. Even if you don't use the Internet at all you could still be affected. All it takes is someone with a total disregard for your anonymity. Just look at Facebook and all of the people who post up photos from parties on there. There are people who will post pictures of friends or acquaintances that have passed out drunk, and then all of their Facebook Friends will "tag" the photos with names and identities. There are already a number of high profile cases where people have been fired from their jobs for pictures that appeared on Facebook -- and they weren't the ones that uploaded them. If someone tags you in a photo on Facebook though it notifies you and gives you the option to untag yourself. If you choose not to remove the tag that's your choice and any consequences of that are at least partially your fault.
  23. I agree with Rocky Ryan. It's much more realistic for there to be little or no blood, especially if we're talking about shooters.
