Forum ban locks user out of his game
TheMightyEthan replied to Cyber Rat's topic in General Gaming Chat
Call it ridiculous if you like, those are the rules you agree to every time you install a game. Not saying I agree with the practice, but they are operating within the terms of the agreement. I know, and the fact that EA seems to be willing to do that is making me rethink buying EA games. And it's making me quite happy I decided to hold off on purchasing DA2. Regardless of whether they're legally entitled to do this, choosing to do so means I won't be buying their products (or "services"). -
You can in Lair of the Shadow Broker. Well, maybe, but I don't intend to pay for sex in real life, let alone a video-game. That statement implies that the only benefit of LotSB is the sex...

Forum ban locks user out of his game

Cutting off access to any legitimately purchased single-player content, whether the main game or DLC, is ri-fucking-diculous regardless of what behavior you're trying to punish, or whether you call it a product or a service. End of story. -
I think I might have to go with the Chief and Cortana as well, as I can't think of another couple in a game that I even remotely cared about. You can in Lair of the Shadow Broker.

Although it's not as pretty as a lot of people's cursive I can actually read yours easily, which is better than I can say for most people.

So I just read today's Penny Arcade post which talks about this game, and something he said in there really rang true for me: the game (and specifically the story) seems more like the kind of thing you'd see in a franchise tie-in novel or comic, not something you'd see in one of the main-series games.

Yeah, a while ago GFWL had all those daily $1 sales to try and drum up business... I think all they accomplished was selling a bunch of games at $1 to Steam users, who then went back to Steam when the sales stopped. Although I guess they got me to start checking their weekly deals, which I still do, so there's that.

I didn't know that... now I'm sad too.

It didn't do much to advance the in-the-past story, but I feel like it advanced the modern-day story a lot. And even though it was totally a cash in, it was a very well done cash in so I don't mind.

You are completely insane.

Updated my post to include some relevant info. Also, your comment about reading in the car made me realize that the feeling in my head I got while playing is very similar to the feeling I get when I read a book in the car, though it was significantly less intense than the book-in-car would give me, and as I said it only lasted a short time.

Okay, so I just played Mirror's Edge all the way through in one sitting with the dot turned off, and did not get sick. On two occasions I got a slightly odd feeling in my head that felt like maybe the beginning of motion sickness, but it was never very intense at all and always went away quickly. I don't know whether I'm representative of most people or not, but there's my anecdotal evidence. *Edit* - For reference I was playing on a 23.5-inch 1080p monitor that I was sitting approximately 2-feet away from (I scooted in closer than normal so it would fill more of my view and hopefully increase the likelihood that I would get sick).

I've also been trying to make more of an effort to wait for prices to drop (on the new version, I don't buy used unless the game is several years old), but something like L.A. Noire I'm willing to pay the day-one premium.
-
lol, I knew that the English used to use it that way, but I figured you had moved on in terms as well.

Yeah, apparently this is a US v. UK thing, cause over here people always use "infant" to mean "baby". Dictionary.com's first definition is "a child during the earliest period of its life, especially before he or she can walk". Once they can walk they're not an infant anymore, they're a toddler, just like StaySICK said. Unless you're talking about usage in law in which case "infant" is used to mean anyone under the age of majority, but that's pretty archaic and modern stuff would use the word "minor" instead.

I know it's been said, but I'm going to reiterate: Navi. Or perhaps enemy NPCs in Mass Effect 1. Individually they're not annoying, but collectively... ENEMY IS EVERYWHERE! YOU MUST DIE! ENEMY IS EVERYWHERE! YOU MUST DIE! YOU MUST DIE!

As I was telling Dean on Steam, I think this is the direction that FPS's need to go with their campaigns, but then of course they need to charge less too. I actually think the length of the campaign worked really well, it didn't overstay its welcome like I think other FPS games *cough*Blops*cough* tend to. In Homefront everything you're doing has an immediate, obvious purpose and is directly related to your overall mission, unlike CoD where must of what you're doing is largely unrelated to whatever is really going on. It didn't seem like there was any filler in the campaign (though the last mission did feel tacked-on), and I liked that alot. However, it needed to be $25-30 instead of $50-60.

lol, well I don't know what the hell "subjunctive" means (though I have heard it before), but I do know that "if I were" is the correct usage.

      I have like 4 save files in Mass Effect 1 that I started, got about 1-1.5 hours in, decided I really fucking hated my Shepard, and started over. I've always imported a Shep in starting ME2 though, so I never had that problem in that game.
-
Oh my god, "if I was" annoys the shit out of me. It's "were" you illiterate twit! (This is not directed at hottie, but rather at a hypothetical person using "if I was".)

Good article. It asks a question about Mass Effect 2 that I have also always wondered about, but figured out this last time I played it: The article asks why the release for the escape pod is outside the pod, in the ship you would normally want to be escaping, thus requiring Shepard to stay behind while he saves Joker. It's a good question. The last time I played it, though, I noticed that the reason Shepard didn't get in the pod was not so he could hit the button, it was that an explosion blew him away from the pod door, then the Collector cannon fired, cutting him off from access to the pod. Joker was refusing to leave without him, so Shepard hit the release inside the ship. So it wasn't that it HAD to be launched from outside, just that it could be.

Maybe "most everyone" is just an American thing, cause I've heard it enough that I'd never even considered that it didn't make sense. It's not a mistake, I'm sure the writer very much intended to write it that way. It probably evolved in speech with almost everyone becoming 'most everyone becoming most everyone. Also, that was a good video Hotty. I especially like the analogy of language to clothes.

Everyone I've ever heard say that word (except my friend who told me about Deus Ex when we were 12) has said it "day-us", but the dictionary says it can also be "dee-us". Either way "deuce" is incorrect. While it's somewhat subjective due to being latin, there's still an accepted pronunciation just like any other word

Do my people in The Sims count? I dunno, it's hard to think of someone I'm like because like Johnny said most game characters do extraordinary things. As for who I'd like to be like, probably Shepard. I want to fly around in space.
