  1. My exposures of planets tend to be pretty short (the Venus one was 1/80th of a second), so I'm not going to get the streaking like some have been seeing. That kind of thing would definitely show up in the Andromeda pictures though.
  2. Yeah, it at least looks like a sphere lit from the side, instead of just a bright circle, which helps me see it as a real object. I think this is the only planet photo I've taken that looks better (after doing the processing) than what it looked like in person. It was pretty low on the horizon, and I was observing right after sunset (you have to with Venus, it's never far behind the sun to set) so there was a lot of wobbling due to atmospheric effects, which made it really hard to see. The software was able to average it out though and get a really good picture.
  3. First, a new photo of Andromeda: I took it a couple weeks ago, but I only just got around to running it through the processing yesterday. As you can see, it came out much better than my last one. I'm still having problems with the telescope's tracking, but whereas last time I was only able to get one usable 10-second exposure, this time I was able to get 3, so I had a lot more data to work with. The reason for the difference in angle is its different position in the sky and hence a different position the camera was in. Next is Venus: It doesn't look like much, but you can tell it's only partially lit, which I find very cool. Venus goes through phases just like the Moon, and my plan is to try to get all of them, which will take about 5 months. They should get clearer as it goes on, because Venus will be getting closer to Earth, so it will be getting larger in the sky.
  4. That's a good question, I don't know if you have to be committing these crimes in the US, or if it's something that applies worldwide.
  5. Well, if they want to show restraint, it does stuff like make it illegal for US banks to handle their money, and if a US bank discovers they have money linked to the organization they have to freeze it and notify the government, and it makes it a US crime to provide aid and support to the organization, etc. Basically a bunch of stuff that just makes it a lot more difficult for them to operate.
  6. It's the kind of thing that could actually be helpful to Mexico in battling the cartels if the US uses it intelligently, instead of just using it to drive toward military force. That is a massive "if" though...
  7. Have you tried a blood sacrifice? Seriously, printers are the least reliable piece of tech I've ever interacted with. I do not understand why no one can make a printer that works.
  8. Okay, so the thing I saw that said they took 17 of 18 positions must have meant they took 17 of 18 districts. That was not how it was made to sound at all. Being generous, I'm guessing whoever wrote the article honestly didn't understand it all that well either.
  9. From my understanding they elect all the local council people (that map is the local councils), but in the legislature they only elect half and Beijing appoints the other half. I saw a thing that in the legislature 17 out of the 18 elected positions were pro-democracy.
  10. I tried it with a guide, but still couldn't do it.
  11. The Outer Worlds This game definitely felt like a spiritual successor to New Vegas, and I really enjoyed it. As I've noticed with lots of this style of RPG though, the end felt rather anticlimactic. Because it's less directed than other games, they don't tend to end with the set-pieces. In the entire last mission I didn't have to even fight anyone because I was able to pass every skill check. On one hand, that's really cool that you can do that, but on the other it left me feeling like the narrative tension just kind of petered out. I think if games are going to do that they need to figure out a way to make the final verbal confrontation feel as tense as it would if it were combat, and I have no idea how that might be accomplished. *Edit - As a side note, I think I'm going to keep Xbox Games Pass for a while. It's got a great selection for $5/month.
  12. This is funny to me because imo Uncharted 4 is the least guilty of this out of the whole series. ?
  13. Okay, I'm going to extend the deadline until the end of the day Friday.
  14. Fuuuuuuuuuck, I'm gonna have to get a VR headset aren't I....
  15. @Mister Jack I'm with you, I can't handle the ASCII graphics, and I couldn't get any of the graphics mods to work last time I tried.
  16. @Mal @Baconrath Well we've hit the deadline and it's just the three of us unless others sign up by the end of the day. So my question to the two of you is if it's still just the three of us do you want to do it? The way I see it we've got three options: go ahead with just the three of us, extend the deadline, or cancel. I'm game for whatever you guys think.
  17. I think if you buy new clothes your character is wearing them in all settings.
  18. I haven't gotten very far at all, but so far this is everything I dreamed a home-console Pokemon would be. @deanb I had also forgotten it was Britain until one of the characters said another was "pants with directions" and it cracked me up. Also, I'm sure it looks even better on the smaller Lite screen, but even on a full-sized Switch it looks fantastic. I haven't played on a TV yet, but I'm guessing that's where it will start to show its resolution. Y was also the last one I played, and my wife rolled her eyes at me when I was playing last night and suddenly go "Awesome! In this one you still get XP when you catch a Pokemon!" *Edit - What starters did everyone pick? I went with Grookey because I cheated and liked its final evolution the best, though Sobble was a close second, especially because I'm guessing you're going to have to go up against Lee's Charizard by the end. That brings up the one thing that I don't like so far about it: that Charizard is the champion's mascot. I mean, I already am a little irritated that the Charmander is the only legacy starter they included, but it doesn't bother me that much, but they could have at least made the Champion's big bad Pokemon something new to this game.
  19. @CorgiShinobi It's confirmed to be part of Game Pass, so if you just want to play it and don't care about owning it you can do that for 1 month's subscription.
  20. Yeah, it's pretty much exactly like the one in P4G.
  21. Meh, so what if some of the models are from the 3DS? I still think the Pokemon themselves look nice. The world looks like a last gen game, but that's about right since in terms of hardware Switch is a last gen console.
  22. I sell most of my console games. PC games I can't so I wait for deep deep discounts on most of them.
  23. You use the touchpad to activate the online system that shows you what other people spent that day doing, but it's not critical to the game (unless there's a tutorial that requires you to do it, I can't remember for sure). *Edit - Looks like the game asks you if you want to activate Thieves' Guild, and you can say no, so I would think saying no would prevent any mandatory tutorial from appearing too.
