Games You've Bought: Super Turbo 2019 Edition
TheMightyEthan replied to toxicitizen's topic in General Gaming Chat
I broke down and got Control on the Epic Store. I considered getting it for PS4, but even on Pro the framerate drops into the teens... *shudder* @Ultra TCP Black Flag counts. -
Fire Emblem: Three Houses So, that game was absolutely fantastic. Easily my favorite game so far this year. I was tempted to just immediately launch a NG+, which is pretty rare with me.
-
Yeah, coop games were fantastic when I was in college, now it's impossible to organize time to play with other people...
-
Yeah, Control is looking like it might be my first big Epic store purchase...
-
Hell to the yeah!
-
Lol, that's probably it, but it's funny that it didn't say anything about you inviting me.
-
I got an e-mail saying I'd been selected for the beta and was like, I don't think I ever signed up...?
-
TMS#FE Encore baby!
-
It's almost like the Chinese government doesn't know how to deal with a society accustomed to civil rights and individual freedoms...
-
Yeah, seems like it's too little, too late.
-
Yeah, the performance issues are the only thing holding me back from Control at the moment. Well, that and the fact that I'm still neck-deep in Fire Emblem...
-
Yeah, the tech isn't actually new, it's just that when they release the pictures they blurify them first. Except then our Idiot in Chief got his hands on a good copy during a briefing...

Games You've Bought: Super Turbo 2019 Edition

I've been playing Fire Emblem on the TV a lot, and I finally got sick of using the joycons with the grip. I hesitated at first, but figured I'm gonna want it for the BotW sequel and SMT too. -
That about sums up the last few years.
-
That's weird, why even use Roswell if you're not going the alien angle?
-
Does anyone know of any good third party Pro controllers? I've been playing on the TV enough recently with Fire Emblem that I'm starting to want one, but there's no way in hell I'm gonna pay $60 for the first party one...
-
I mean, I can understand wanting to take games that were largely completed and finish them, but beyond that the dead should stay dead.
-
Holy shit you beat it twice?! I have a feeling I'll be lucky if I just finish the Black Eagles by the end of the year... *Edit - I just realized I posted MH:W in the wrong thread... *Edit 2 - Also I never posed Tiny Metal: Full Metal Rumble in here. It was really good. It added some more features that the Advance Wars games had, like leader powers and fuel and ammo limits on units, but where I felt it really shined was the mission design. In the first Tiny Metal the later missions had a tendency to get "harder" by just turning into a slog, where you were just engaged in a battle of attrition, but this one didn't do that, all the missions were a lot of fun to play. I would highly recommend it to anyone who likes either Advance Wars or the first Tiny Metal.

@danielpholt The creativity issue is why I bounce off of games like that. Anything I could make would suck compared to people who actually know what they're doing, and I don't particularly enjoy the process of making it either... The closest I can get is stuff like Opus Magnum, where you have a really well-defined problem that you're solving. I've been playing Fire Emblem: Three Houses and holy shit do I love it. I've never played any other Fire Emblem game, so I don't know how similar those are, but this one is totally my jam. I love so much the social sim interspersed between the battles. I'm really not very far in, I've only done "mock" battles so far, but I love what I've been playing.

Thank God he's dead.
-
They're better than any trees I've ever drawn.
-
Hopefully Mulan will be better, it sounds like they're basically going back to the source material and starting from scratch.
-
@Mister Jack Yeah, they do affect performance, so if I'm close to 60 fps but not quite there I'll turn off motion blur, but if I'm playing in the 30 fps range I'd rather keep it on so the motion doesn't look as jerky.

That's funny, I don't remember even noticing the chromatic aberration in Reach. The chromatic aberration in No Man's Sky literally gave me headaches though.
