  1. I got my email from Sony, but when I click the link to change my password, it says the site is down for maintenance. This happening for anyone else?
  2. I haven't played it since launch day. I honestly haven't mustered up the courage just to pop it back in and give it another go. I fear that if I do give it a second chance, it will only frustrate me more, and then I'll trade it in. Stuck between a rock and a shitty game place, so to speak.
  3. Or just the fact that *GASP!* someone truly didn't like it. ....Nah /half_life_rant.exe
  4. THIS. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, THIS. It was a pretentious non-game that had no real story to speak of and only deserves credit for its advances in physics implementation. People complain that Portal is just a tech demo? Seriously people, HL2 is a game built ENTIRELY around the gravity gun, and then sprinkled with a tiny narrative and gobs of ambiguity. At least the Portal gun is fun consistently. The Gravity Gun is fun for about the first twenty minutes.
  5. If I had to garner a guess, it will be Half-Life 2. Even though I can't for the life of me figure out why anyone would think that - and I even bought the damned thing TWICE.
  6. Oh my God I hate myself for buying this game. Might be one of three games I've traded in over the last four years. Such shit.
  7. I don't care about "unlocking things" necessarily. I do care about having things to do in the game, though. If I beat the game in days, then that's pretty much it. And I've never really run into a situation where I said to myself "Joystiq is so full of shit." I mean, Engadget is not that bad - better than fucking Jizzmodo. Being run be AOL only means you have asshole bosses, not necessarily that the site itself is crap. I am surprised that Eurogamer gave it a 8/10. They are usually the most hard on titles. At this point, I'm not even most disappointed by the divisive scores, it's entirely the lack of content for the money.
  8. 1: Super Mario Bros 2: The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3: Mass Effect 4: Rock Band 5: Super Mario 64 6: Bioshock 7: Super Smash Bros: Melee 8: Super Mario Galaxy 9: Socom II 10: Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes (best thing Silicon Knights has ever done, and it wasn't even their idea) 11: Fallout 3 12: Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 13: UN Squadron (for sentimental value) 14: Super Mario World 15: Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory *Edited once I remembered the Splinter Cell franchise
  9. Yes, but it's not isolated to the PS3. My iPhone wouldn't connect, but for some reason it would work (barely) on my Xbox 360. I didn't have any of the "Top Picks for Gyaruson" or "Action" genre stuff available. Just "Instant Queue" and "Search". I read on a board that people have contacted Netflix and they have confirmed that there is some streaming issues.
  10. Yeah, I just saw the Joystiq review. While agree with Enervation at the total lack of online pros and cons, the biggest setback for me was seeing that people were able to max out everything in just a few days. Play the Challenge Mode for 45 minutes: unlock every piece of equipment. Max out characters and abilities in three days. Ugh. That is sooooo disappointing. I might not even pick it up now, but what the hell will I have to play for the next few months? God dammit.
  11. I agree about the whole "you gotta beat the security cameras" thing. Lets spend twenty minutes stressing over the cameras, ultimately just to jack some cop cars and drive right in. But even then, they never went in stealthily like they planed, so even that idea got scrapped! Yeah, it was a mess, but a damn entertaining one.
  12. Activision begs to differ: COD4 wasn't a prime example but the Wii is also not a GC. It's got twice as much RAM and is reportedly 2x as powerful as a GC. I think he may have been facetious...
  13. The story is: Global Warming happened. All the ice caps melted and most of the northern hemisphere is threatened with catastrophic flooding, so these giant floating cities were created with the intent of housing 5,000 people. Well, once the preverbial shit hit the fan, the boat got overrun by people looking to escape the flooding and the population swelled to over 50,000 people. So all of the supplies and resources are going faster than anyone anticipated. After that happened, a security force was brought in to restore order to the Ark (name of the city). But the people already on the boat formed a coalition to stand against the resistance, claiming they have every right to be there as everyone else. The game begins once the Security force lands on the boat. It plays the most similar to Mirrors Edge, if I had to guess (obviously haven't played it). It uses the SMART movement system (Smooth Movement Across Random Terrain) to allow players to perform Parkour-style moves whilst running. It also has a huge emphasis on customization, and Kotaku just reported that there are over 100 QUADRILLION variations across all character customization options. So, that's insane. The most defining characteristic appears to be how the game integrates it's story across single player, cooperative and competitive multiplayer. You can play the entire campaign solo, coop or online against real people. That's kind of a big deal. I imagine that it's a linear story-progression, but with open-world elements to it. Like, the game gives you your mission, but you have multiple ways to accomplish the task, with having all the different classes and everything. tl;dr It's Mirrors Edge meets Team Fortress 2 with insane customization.
  14. Yeah, I really couldn't give a shit about "improving the graphics" for the next generation. In fact, my friend asked me yesterday what we should expect graphically from Nintendo's next console, since it's supposed to be "more powerful" (I hate that term) than an Xbox 360 or PS3. He specifically asked because of how good games like Battlefield 3 look, and they are still on this generation of systems. I told him that Nintendo's new console will be able to make games look about as good as modern PC-destroying games (Crysis 2, Battlefield 3, etc), for reasons like anti-aliasing, better AI due to more processing power/RAM, etc. So yes, while the graphics may take a jump, I agree with Hotty when he says that it will be less of a visual jump and more of an under-the-hood improvement. Like Naughty Dog's most recent game. Visually average, but the sheer amount of shit happening at once is staggering. I hope to see more of that.
  15. Can we actually create a list of who all is definitely buying on their respective launch day, and what system they are getting it for? List of Awesome Brink Buyers - And Their System of Choice: - Gyaruson: Xbox 360 (Gamertag: Gyaruson)

    CTRL+V

*I hit Ctrl+V, and nothing came up. Seriously. I didn't think that was possible.
  17. They did. It revolved around motion. Some were happy, we were sad.
  18. You can't really be that upset. You wouldn't be able to get the NeXbox for the price you paid for your Slim anyways, and definitely not with the vast library it has today. If I had more patience, I would love to be a half a generation behind. Would save me soooo much money, plus I could find really awesome games dirt cheap. But, alas...
  19. I just wanna play Portal 2... I bought a new copy on PS3, took the Steam code and traded the PS3 copy right back in. Only ended up paying $13 outright. Too bad I need the PSN to be up and running for me to link my Steam account to my Playstation account...

Wait, you've traded in the PS3 copy before you linked accounts? How were you expecting to link accounts sans PS3 game?

      Thursday Next

Well, at least you kept the code. You will probably need to gamefly a copy of Portal 2 PS3.

Nah, I used to work at Gamestop, so I've still got friends there. They said I could borrow a used copy to set up the account link, then bring it back.

How was I supposed to know that the Steam code required a linked account? I mean, how could I know without reading it, that is...

  20. Don't worry, Toshi. I saw it too. It was absolutely Chris Bridges, but in a mindless, fun-at-the-theatre kind of way.
  21. Where did you hear that? Because, that's amazing.
  22. Source Code is my favorite film of 2011 so far. It's an interesting take on a thoroughly-trodden genre. The ending, well, didn't make sense. But I don't allow that to taint the previous one and a half hours of a film I was enjoying anymore. I also saw Water For Elephants. It was good-but-not-great kind of storytelling. Everything just felt, incomplete. Not to sound like a snob or anything, but there were so many times where I wanted to scream out "Why did they choose to shoot "X" scene this way?!" For a film that tells the story of such a foreign idea to its audience, I just thought that it could have used a little more.... magic. Not like, Harry Potter magic, but movie magic. Where was the awe and mystery? No one has ever run away with the circus. No one was alive back then. Use that as an opportunity to really make the film stand out visually. It was very by the book, which I feel was a disservice to the story. Also, Twilight boy sucks balls. I mean, I know the studio only hired him for his box office appeal, but you have the incredible Reese Witherspoon and Christof Waltz, and then you hire Edward Cullen to play the protagonist? Such a bitch move.
