  1. Last time I played Shadowrun, at which point it was 3 years old I think, there were still people playing and the game was panned by critics. Even though a game isn't attracting the big numbers, there'll probably be enough people playing that if you enjoy it enough to come back to it, you can.
  2. I don't think you can use difficulty as an argument against art. It is possible to be bad at acting, bad at painting, bad at dancing and so on. Remember before art had its modern meaning it simply meant skill. Although it is possible to create art using incredibly simplistic skill levels (stacking bear crates for example), something does not cease to be art just because it requires a high skill level (for example a photo-realistic painting). Edit: I swear chrome used to flag movie as not a word but it doesn't any more. Maybe I added it to dictionary.
  3. To be honest I think that problem stems form the comics themselves. On the one hand you have an attempt to tackle fairly complex issues of prejudice, and reaction to prejudice, and on the other you have often goofy costumes and powers, people coming back to life left right and centre and pretty much every other comic trope under the sun. It's quite hard to strike a satisfactory balance. Depends which you've seen. Originally, it came from his chest in a more dated sci-fi ray gun-like look but more recent comics and such had changed it to shoot out of his hands, I think. It was never red though. The red is probably just a visual connection to Scott, for the benefit of people for whom cinematic enjoyment is inversely proportional to intellectual stimulation.
  4. Apparently I'm INTJ 22 12 38 22. (And that's rare )
  5. I wasn't so much bothered by alack of 'significance', I just thought as a stand alone story it was pretty rubbish.
  6. There were people at my school who could afford to pay for a private education, yet still were on EMA because it only measured income rather than savings, assets etc. so its not surprising they scrapped it really. Obviously it would be better if they came up with an alternative system, but spending money isn't high on the list of government priorities right now. Also, depending on what course you're doing a lot of unis don't acutally care about UCAS points, they base it soley on grades and personal statements (and sometimes interviews).
  7. My processor is only an Intel Core 2 Duo T6400 @2.00GHz, I'm guessing there's no hope for me?
  8. Apparently my CPU doesn't make the minimum requirements for Brink and my video card only just. Look like I won't be getting it. D:
  9. We'd probably still be Brits but I doubt the Scots would want to be known as British. In fact I'd have thought a lot of Scots object to being called British even while we're part of the same country. But I really wish the government would stop wasting their time with voting systems and all that inconsequential crap and sort out once and for all what we want to call ourselves. I vote for England and Friends.
  10. Didn't think it was a good episode to be honest. There was a hell of a lot of plot holes for one thing, and it definitely felt like the writer had thought 'I know what would be cool, pirates and a siren and the black spot...er now how are we going to explain this'. The whole thing just felt to clumsy, especially when they tacked on the story arc stuff at the end, like 'sorry guys, we know that was a bit crap but bear with us while we get through the filler, we haven't forgotten about the important stuff.'

Nice, Kenshi. I beat him with Margaret Walton Saville from Frankenstein, but since practically all we know about her is her name and the fact she has a brother it seemed like cheating anyway. :P

Hah, nice. I also got him with Detective Driver from Gotham Central.

Some choices are weird or expect continuity from the end of a series/story which you haven't necessarily finished!

Heh, great minds think alike. We both tried classic literature, we both tried Batman characters. I was surprised he didn't recognise Jezebel Jet.

  11. Getting pissed on my own cos I forgot to get a ticket to the ball thingy tonight. Fun times.

  12. There was also The Resurrection of Ra's al Ghul storyline (or part of it anyway) which I don't know much about and most of the three ghosts stuff I had to look up on Wikipedia because the last part of the Batman & Son collected edition makes absolutely no sense on its own. Morrison's Batman work is pretty messy in many ways, but I still find it quite enjoyable, and there are quite a lot of - for want of a better word - 'cool' moments. It's sort of a superficial enjoyment I guess.
  13. RIP, really? I guess it was OK but I could probably think of a dozen Batman collections to read before that. I felt all his stuff before it was pretty terrible too. I wouldn't put it up there with the seminal works like The Long Halloween, The Dark Knight Returns and so on, but I did really enjoy it. Also after having my doubts about some of the more 'unrealistic' elements of Morrison's run (although I didn't read that much of it, just the ones included in Batman & Son) it made me so happy to read the line 'Don't you know, imagination is the 5th dimension'.
  14. I was thinking that, then HH almost went and re-ruined it by mentioning it was 'half-true'.
  15. Oh duh, when you said Dick as Batman I thought you were referring to Battle for the Cowl events, I haven't read a lot of earlier stuff. Where are you getting your information about the different story arcs and chronology btw? It's sometimes hard to piece stuff together from Wikipedia.
  16. FLD you have to read Hush. It was the first proper Batman story I ever read and it remains one of my favourites. And have you read RIP? Also brilliant, all though it might help to read up a bit on the events preceding it since Morrison spent a long time building up to it. As for me, I read the main Battle For The Cowl stuff last (little bit disappointing, felt too short), so I'm looking forwards to starting on the Batman and Robin series. I'm a bit hampered though, because I decided to only buy Batman comics so first I have to wait for the collected editions and then I have to sum up the courage to fork out the cash for them. Edit: It would probably make sense for a mod to move our un-Lantern related posts to the proper comics thread.
  17. It does look like they're throwing in a hell of a lot of plot threads. Wonder how non-comic reader friendly it will be.
  18. That picture confuses me, is that a foreleg? If it is why does it only have one?
  19. I read the All Star Superman comics after Kenshi recommended them in the movie thread, and I have to say I really hate all the Bizzaro crap. I've hardly read any Superman stuff, but between All Star and Superman/Batman it comes across like it's a regular staple of Superman comics despite it being unfunny, pretty much nonsensical and generally so corny it justifies why comics are considered lowbrow by many people. The overall arc was alright, though some bits were much better than others. Truth be told, I was a little bit disappointed, but maybe I'm just not a Superman guy.
  20. Forgot to register for a postal vote whilst I was home for Easter, so no.
  21. Wolverine getting too much face time? Isn't that just the films being faithful to the comics...
  22. An alien that could be standing right behind you, and even if you turned around to make sure nothing was there, you'd never really be sure when you turned back round that you hadn't just forgotten it was there... I reckon that's pretty creepy when you think about it. I'll admit the weeping angels are probably top of my Who creep list, too, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if kids got freaked out by it. Oh and the nest of Silence aliens on the ceiling, that is the stuff of kids nightmares.
  23. Oh Dean, you're just as jealous as the rest of us.
