  1. They're making Dark Knight Returns as well? I'd imagine they're going to change the art style quite a bit for that. Makes me think, as much as I like the Sin City film, a black and white Sin City cartoon would be amazing.
  2. I dug Tricky out the other day, and although I remembered it being good it was even better than I was expecting. Not sure how I feel about the more realistic vibe, hopefully with squirrel suits etc it will still be over the top. Will there still be uber tricks? I've only ever played tricky so I don't even know what they were like in SSX 3.
  3. I'm not saying that conclusions haven't been jumped to, at or up and down on in some spectacularly emotional repartee but it's not fair to shit all over 'this whole thread'. The majority of 'this whole thread' has been healthy speculation and balanced discussion of what we like, what we want, and what we are worried about from the news we've heard so far about the next Elder Scrolls game. Those are lovely high horses you're galloping through on, but mounts haven't even been confirmed for Skyrim so howzat for jumping to conclusions, huh? (Sorry for taking such an offensive tone, but I got caught up in the rhetoric. ) Edit: In case my parenthesis wasn't clear enough, the tone of this post was hyperbolic, and while the point still stands it's not meant to be particularly insulting.
  4. As time goes on, Notch's amateur status is becoming more and more obvious, it's good that he's still willing to concede to in the face of overwhelmingly negative feedback from the Minecraft community though (then again the customers don't always necessarily know what's best for them). It's only going to get more and more difficult to balance good business sense and fan service and I wonder how long Notch and Mojang will sustain their 'indie darling' status.
  5. Similar idea but movie orientated.
  6. Wow, the least watched? But the last series was by far the best, and this one looks set to be just as good. Really enjoyed yesterday's episode, even though it was a bit heavy handed in setting up the series arc and dropping mysteries and cliffhangers left right and centre. Of course it's so long since I've watched a TV show on a weekly basis as it's released that waiting for the next episode is pretty much unbearable, cliffhangers or not.
  7. Forget railcard. Get forced to by brand new £60 ticket on train. Find railcard in bag. Balls.

Completely worth it in the end, though.

How far were you going that the ticket cost 60 pounds?

A two hour journey + return. The original ticket cost £30.

  8. I knew that turret had to be hiding a secret. The solution seems so simple now.
  9. TF2. I don't replay single player games a whole lot so the real time sinks for me are all multiplayer.
  10. Had to turn off when they started talking about the coop, but it was really interesting up until then. I really wish they'd included the moon easter egg, complete with the fake song. The way they talked about the elevators, and specifically clarified that the different design wasn't indicative of a large time period between Portal and Portal 2 sounds a bit like they are planning to expand more on the story/history of Aperture, which could mean more Portal 2 content, Portal 3 or Ep 3/Half Life 3. That's just me reading into it though, they seemed a little less specific on that than other stuff.
  11. I'm definitely looking forward to more Duncan Jones in the future, he's showed his arty, small scale credentials with Moon but also proved he can handle a larger budget.
  12. Ok tedious was a bad choice of words. More like frustrating, it's fun to speculate...to a point. Then again I'm the one who keeps clicking on this thread in the first place. And speculating.
  13. I doubt Nintendo would promote their product to the public by announcing they're gonna release a bucketful (shovelful?) of ports. Unless that's supposed to be a pitch to developers...but then why show a pic of the console? Pfff E3 better be soon or the rumour mill is going to get extremely tedious. Edit: Looked at the link, it's supposed to be from a developer's conference.
  14. Next time I need some music, be prepared for me to completely abuse that generous offer.
  15. I quite liked how it ended positively, and it felt like it gave you something to think about after the movie without trying to be overly clever or complicated. I suppose in another film I'd probably be more negative about it, but I find it hard to criticise Source Code simply because, despite the fact it's just a popcorn flick, it's head and shoulders above most of the shit the film industry churns out for mass consumption. Is it stupid to expect films like Inception and Source Code to be the par for Hollywood blockbusters? Well I guess it is when they can make so much money out of absolute rubbish, but I reserve the right to be indignant about it.
  16. Hmm if it had an outward facing camera it could do similar augmented reality stuff to the 3DS I suppose but in 2D. Still we're wandering into design the gameplay around the controller territory instead of finding inventive uses of a controller to compliment gameplay. Like you said, I hear the sounds of shovels. Controller has a camera, controller has a touch screen, maybe the controller is just a 3DS?
  17. I would love an FPS where you couldn't see everybody's screen at once. Use the main TV for a scoreboard or map or replays or something. It would be cool, although I doubt the screen would be big enough for it to be that feasible. Gives me an idea though, using the 3D shutter type glasses they use in 3D TVs, you could alternate frames between each players view and the glasses block out the other player's screen instead of blocking out alternating perspectives in each eye. PATENT PENDING. Speaking of which, has there been any mention of 3D for the Cafe/Stream/Urination or whatever they're calling it?
  18. The touch screen I'm more sceptical about, but the screen I reckon could work. That's not to say it isn't somewhat unnecessary though, especially considering how much more expensive it will make the controllers. The only real benefit it would have is in a local split screen game where you wanted to give each player some information without showing the other players, like maybe a quiz game where you choose your answer from the controller screen so other people can't cheat. But that's an incredibly specific situation.
  19. Somewhat of an irrelevant question since how many of us have a screen on our controllers? Besides, you notice how everything else that the Dreamcast pioneered has been copied to great success? Shoulder triggers instead of buttons, online play, the trend suggests screens in controllers will hit off in a big way. I bet you Sega were in the process of designing motion controllers for the Dreamcast and just never got round to it before they went bust.
  20. I bought a Gamecube with Wind Waker, Luigi's Mansion, Warioware, Smash Bros., that jet ski game and Worms Armageddon/3D/whichever it was and 2 controllers for £10 from a friend. Then there's TF2. £6.99, 309 hours logged so far. Steam gave me Portal for free. Oh and finally there was Bioshock and the Legend of Zelda Collector's Edition (the one with every all the main Zelda games uo until Majora's Mask) which I borrowed from friends...indefinitely. Classic not-quite-theft-but-still-really-amounts-to-theft friendship abuse.
  21. Well I'd highly recommend the Millennium trilogy (to both of you) [Edit: meaning Gerbil and HotHeart]. I can't decide what to read myself either, I've got a lot of short stories but I'm tempted to save them for when I'm back at uni when I don't as much time to read, I could read the final Millennium book but I don't really feel like tacking a 700+ pager right now, which I guess rules out Gravity's Rainbow as well. It's stupid how many unread books I have and I can't choose one to read.
  22. Yes, but I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing as long as they continue to support Portal 2 as much as they have their other games. Plus all the references might suggest Valve is moving in an Episode 3 (or at least Half Life) direction, which is surely good news right?
  23. Oh well in that case just search my name.
