  1. If they don't change the Canadian URL, I wonder which will have more hits at the end of the month, this one or the new Kotaku?
  2. Most people here used to or still go to Kotaku. Things here are pretty chatty. Every time I click "New posts", I'm greeted to at least one full page, or more if I didn't check the whole day. As for editors from Kotaku coming here, I bet they at least came to visit once, but I doubt they care enough to regularly read what we type here. After all, their site has 2 mil views per month, and we only make up... 200 of those?
  3. What the hell is Aquaria and why do 23 people from my Steam friends list have it? O_O

Samorost 2, Penumbra, and World of Goo are great. Didn't really like Aquaria personally. (Or Lugaru. Gish was okay.) I wish I had the 2nd bundle as it looks a bit better.

Good thing I got both when they gave the first one to those who bought the second.

Yeah I got HIB 2 n they threw in HIB 1 for free :D. Oh when I say I haven't played them, some I already owned, I've played those :P

  4. Not at the moment. The person below me intends to live forever or die trying.
  5. PC gaming is dying because people aren't pirating enough.
  6. I'm one of the rare few who doesn't use adblocks (for a few reasons), so I'll show some of you who do what I noticed today: I noticed that there's an article written between those ads and that one of the pictures might not be an ad (I'm thinking the Batman one is part of the article, but I'm not sure).
  7. I played through Simon's Quest two years ago as part of my Castlevania series review for a magazine. It aged badly compared to any other Castlevania game and is virtually unplayable without a guide, which is a minus as big as the Golden Gate bridge. I think you're letting nostalgia get the better of you.
  8. I remember playing Hearts of Iron as a kid and having really fond memories of it.
  9. She uses a carrot. Later in the game you can craft her ultimate carrot out of rainbow shells, I think, and then she fights with a glittering rainbow carrot.
  10. EDIT: Bah, I type too slow. Ignore stuff that was already answered. The camera is one of the main problems and you should decide what you want to do with it. If you want to include hazards on the ground like traps and pitfalls, don't stick it to over-the-shoulder view. I remember stepping on absolutely every bear trap in Resident Evil 4 because of that. Don't include platforming unless you want to do it properly. Max Payne is a good example of platforming sections in a game with really stiff controls, so try an avoid that. Try and make weapons you'll always lose and avoid "Bigger Giant Crab Boss" syndrome. For example, I have the Super Awesome Particle Rocket gun, which has scarce ammo. I fight the Big Giant Crab monster, but I'm scared to use my S.A.P.R. because maybe, just maybe there's an EVEN BIGGER Giant Crab monster after that. So, try and avoid progressively stronger weapons and try and come up with different weapons. Try playing Painkiller to get what I mean. It's a game where you use all the weapons throughout the whole game.
  11. Just because it's AAA, doesn't mean it's casual, really. Taking Magicka as an example again (sorry, it's just fairly recent), it technically is competing with other hack and slash titles, regardless of their budget.
  12. Capcom has been going in the right direction by offering AAA games at cheaper prices. Wonder if they'll give up on that or continue their trend. It is pretty insane though. I spent 10 euro on Magicka and can't believe the content I got for my money. 12hours until I finished the game (with MP sessions and other modes aside from playing only the main game) is mighty good for that. I even think 1 hour in an Internet/gaming cafe here is 1 euro. I mean, seriously why would I pay 5 times that much? I understand bigger budgets need bigger prices, but does every 50 euro game offer me even 10 hours of enjoyment on my first playthrough?
  13. Oh, I completely forgot about Shivering Isles. Now that was an awesome expansion. I really liked that one.
  14. I think Dukakis has never enjoyed any non-strategy game ever.
  15. Hey... my Kotaku RSS feed is dead. I'm not sure how I should feel about that.

      It's a sign.

Better make sure it's dead. Two in the chest and one in the head.

      Go.

  16. My reading up on the games listed here seems to hint at Bonestorm being a parody of Blood Storm rather than Mortal Kombat. Another thing that points towards that was that they were obviously playing a Mortal Kombat parody (Liu Kang VS... a tank) when the Santa came in carrying Bonestorm. And Blood Storm also had an ad campaign making fun of Mortal Kombat. Fact is, compared to what fighting games have evolved into, MK games have aged very poorly. But I think the fact that everyone remembers MK in that pool of cheap knockoffs speaks enough about the series not being utter crap. (And hooray for Die Simpsons!) This makes me sad.
  17. What did he buy with 1000 pounds? All the games released the past decade?
  18. The RSS feed for Kotaku I have usually shows tags like [Rumor], [Pullquoute], [Video] and so on. I know this is on Kotaku's end because none of my other feeds show those tags. I expected some Skyrim footage because the article I linked had [Video] on it, but no, it was a 10 second Oblivion clip which could have been shown in better quality as an image :/
  19. "The New Elder Scrolls Can Actually Make Humans Look Attractive [VIDEO]" That tag is so fucking cheap.
