I turned it on in every game I ran into that has it so far. I haven't noticed anything bad.
  2. I was sort of in a rush when I posted that post. What I meant was the lifespan of the ATX form factor. The size is really not an issue but the screw placements and such is. For example, say if ATX gets replace by XYZ five years from now and then I want to upgrade. I would be pretty screwed if ATX boards don't exist or a certain parts I want won't work on an ATX. Sure, I could buy a new tower but the tower is one part that you can reuse as many times you want like mice and keyboard, and monitor and speakers to certain extent. It helps keep my costs down when I decide to do something as major as replacing everything. It would be nice to not having to replace full tower. Those are kind of pricey. So yeah, hopefully Dean is right. Even if ATX has a successor, it should take a while before ATX fully dies.
  3. I just was wondering... when do you guys think the ATX mobo form factor will be replace? I'm asking because I was thinking of costs of a gaming PC and how much the tower plays into that cost.

I seriously wonder how many people buy that card in that case.
  5. I knew I would miss this class from oversleeping. :>

Skyline College. Sort of glad I didn't go to City College. No classes there! Also, in the fall I will be transferring to SF State.

Also, I did. My main one failed so yeah.

I just finished up at SF State last semester.

That would have been crazy if we had been going there at the same time and not realized it!

  6. On the thing about getting cheated by a modder. Back during the PS1 era in 8th Ave mini Chinatown in Brooklyn, NY... modding PS1 was a business for one store. You can get your PS1 modded to play burnt disks for something like $50 or $100. I forget the actual price but you can get your PS1 back by the hour or even half hour. It will work since they will test it out for you. Then... you can browse their collection of burnt games for sale for $20. Let's say that dude made a nice profit for his skills and connections. Later in '00 or so, he. Swapped to a legit business for legal reasons. Same goes to other video game stores that sold burnt games. Now, this situation is pretty damn sweet for the buyer and massively sweet for the seller. All the parent had to do for the kid was to front the initial money to get the console and mod and then the kid, like me, could get a game whenever he pleased when he has $20 which was not hard to do for a Chinese kid who get red envelopes on CNY, birthday and Christmas. So I can get games when I wanted in just 10 minutes. Five minute walk to the store beats going to a legit store by using the subway/bus which can take an hour or two one way. Then there was the $50 price tag on the games. Needless to say, I amassed quite a big burnt game collection. HOWEVER, I did get legit copies of the games at times. Come on, a legit video game store was like a candy shop with all the wonderful colors compared to flipping through a binder. Now that I think of it, the SNES was similar. Just swap disks with floppies. Not sure on the costs since that was pretty much before I was a buyer. My cousins though had BOXES of floppies of mainstream games from the US and JP, and obscure games as well. So I think each game was pretty damn cheap. Again, whoever did that made massive profit as well. Now in this day of age with broadband and burners in pretty much everybody houses... everyone can DIY. ... now I want to somehow get my Xbox to play pirated games... JP games. Mainly Metal Wolf Chaos. Thank you internet!
  7. CLOUD~~~!!! KYAAAA~ As for my nomination... the hero from Y's. Crash into monsters and don't give a fuck.
  8. I do weird random shit like using flash lights as spotlights in my room right now to find a fly.
  9. I knew I would be up this late because of homework.

  10. I never had my own PSP... I know I won't be day one-ing this or even one year-ing this but I think I will be getting this. All depends on what happens at E3. Its kind of makes you wonder what will the next gen consoles will be like if Sony can pack such power in a tiny device like that... sure its a 5" screen but still.
  11. So... how is this game? From the looks of things, its TF2-esk.
  12. I'm currently playing solo. I need some TAY crew. Getting my ass handed to me solo. :< Also, I think I got killed through a wall... by wall hack.

Part of me think I should of waited for the 69xx instead of just getting the 6870. Not like I'm complaining about the 6870 but hey, I could always go for something better. It is only about $45 more after MIR. May the best card win in your purchase!
  14. I want to play Metal Wolf Chaos but it was never released in the States. What do I do now!? ;_;

Emulation is not a possibility or even modding an Xbox?

  15. Hell no! If it can scare me in my dreams, then it is real enough! Thus my fear! ;_; PS: I never beat the first game. PSS: I think I will go play and beat Dead Space now. New game goal.
  16. Mainly for the visuals... but the song is a classic as well.
  17. I'm so glad I have a Micro Center nearby so I don't have to deal with Best Buy. Every so often they have damn good deals. That is on top of their $80-$90 bucks cheaper i7s... which is awesome. I love how when you mention that you're building a new computer, the sale folks all light up. The way they talk is like how someone will try to sell you a car or a house. It can get a bit snotty but its fine. Sadly for them, I already know what I am looking for and I have a pretty good idea on the prices of what I am looking for... so stop trying to sell me this and that. If you guys were to have that CPU/mobo combo deal a few weeks earlier, you would of gotten my money... But yeah, pretty everything else I buy online.
  18. You know, do any of you guys keep your old parts just for memories? I'm planning on keeping all my CPUs once their respective computers are done.
  19. Geez, you should of said that earlier. 10 years in electronic terms is almost a fossil.

    Fucking Kotaku

Those wall of text also seem to follow a pretty strict format. You know what I'm talking about...
  21. Yeah, when I heard it from my alarm radio, first thing out my mouth was "Remember, no Russian." And Dean, let us hope it be true since Black Ops was pretty eh in my books. Also, I never really noticed the MP textures in the maps until Black Ops. Holy shit, what am I looking at? PS3 version by the way.
  22. Its all about the mighty money and because you can. Chances are, if you can then you will do something. However, being a nice human beings with feelings, sometimes if I like it enough, I will pay for it. Most of the time if the price is right and other times when the price is far from right. Speaking of this topic... I don't think I have pirated any games recently in the last... six months or so. Now music and other stuff... eh. I should seriously get Nujabes' discography legit.
  23. I personally like the idea of timed demos. You have x amount of time to do whatever you want. Just Cause 2 had that. Only thing that limited you were the map size. That made me buy the full game when I saw it on sale on Steam, all from the memory of it when I tried it on the PS3 demo. Timed demos can work with a bunch of games I think. The devs don't have to do anything special besides cutting the size of the demo download to only include places that a person can get to in the demo time. It leaves a better taste in my mouth than a demo that all of a suddenly ends.
  24. Not to rain on your parade but I stole your computer and changed out the guts. As a side note, I'm happy that chances are, I won't have to buy a new tower again whenever I decide to build a new computer to replace this one, 4-5 years down the line.
