  1. Let's be fair though, we do have our elitists on the PC as well. When we're so awesome, it's hard not to get a big head! And look at the sexy hardware we use: It's hard not to be a little bit smug.
  2. HA! That's brilliant! I'd love to believe that poster was dead serious writing that.
  3. I thought about it when I was writing my comment but decided to exclude it because the voice acting really wasn't that great. Some of it was but it was vey inconsistent. Jason. JASON! Jason. JASON! Jason. JASON! JASON! Jason.
  4. Crack in Time is way better then Tools of Destruction. Just way better. Plus Ratchet's face actually has different emotions in cutscenes! Is Tools of Destruction the one you lent me before? I didn't like that at all. it was just way too basic for my liking, no challenge in it.
  5. Yeah, Dice are great developers but they always let a good handful of bugs and issues through the door and usually cause some more issues when they fix others. I still love them though and I'll be happy dealing with some issues as long as the game itself isn't some console port.
  6. Nobody's mentioned Uncharted 2 yet?! I thought the voice acting in that was fantastic. Batman: Arkham Asylum had fantastic voice acting too - Mark Hamill and Kevin Conroy?! Yes please! I'd mention Darksiders too just because Mark Hamill does a great job in it. I've always liked the voice acting in the MGS series too. Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions on PSP had some great voice acting too. All the voices suited the characters really well.
  7. Yeah, once you start building and upgrading PCs, the line blurs. I'd consider a new PC one built from the ground up with at least a new CPU, GPU, RAM and mobo. I wouldn't count new HDDs, PSUs and DVD drives as neccessary to say you have a new PC. Hell, my last "new" PC had 5 year old DVD drives and HDDs. Now only one of the HDDs remains.
  8. Watched 'Until the Light Takes Us' last night. It's a great documentary. It tells the story of the early years of Black Metal. Unlike most other genres of music, Black Metal didn't come silently into the fray. It arrived with an entrance fitting with it's style of music. Even if you don't like Black Metal (or Metal in general), this is a compelling documentary.
  9. I always considered a lush to be someone who gets drunk quick and starts flirting with everyone as in "She's a total lush, get her out for a few drinks and she'll be all over you." or "Be careful, I hear she's a bit of a lush. Ya might want to keep a tight leash on her when you're out."
  10. I'm fine with that. To be honest, I know what they're talking about. Portal 1 was a great game but there were times that even with the superiority of the mouse that you'd be fiddling about with getting the portals right even though you knew the solution. Ahhh, I see. My bad. I'm glad I got the wrong end of the stick, I shudder to think of the argument someone could come up with for why a gamepad is better than a mouse and keyboard for FPS.
  11. You're planning on adding that RAM to the 2gb you have already, yes? If so, make sure that they're the exact same RAM as you have already, down to the brand. I've never heard of Netzteil so I'm not sure about the PSU and the price seems a bit on the cheap side. It could be just fine but I'd make sure there's a decent warranty there just in case it doesn't live a long life. Everything else looks ok from where I'm sitting.
  12. You're probably right but I'd still rather have someone that has the precision (if it's needed) than someone who's trying to aim with an analog stick *pictures someone with their tongue out gently nudging the analog stick to get it in the right position*. Oh no, you didn't! You best be trolling, boy!
  13. Yeah, as MaliciousH said, you really don't want to wing it. A good quality 600-650w should do you just fine though. 530w would probably do your system as is but it's going to be sketchy if you decide on crossfiring it up. 600w is the safe bet.
  14. I started playing Portal again last night. Unfortunately, it didn't give me my completed save file when I reinstalled so I have to play through all of the game again to get to the Advanced levels I wanted to play through but never had. As for Portal 2, the idea of getting stuck in a co-op game with a person using a gamepad is scary. I'll definitely be only doing co-op with people I know have the game on PC (and don't use a gamepad for FPS games).
  15. And ya still buy barely any! Thinking back, I had to laugh. The first bit of music I had was a record as well - The Rocky soundtrack! After a start like that, I won't embarrass myself by naming the other music I listened to in my childhood.
  16. Day 11: Finally! An easy one! PC all the way. I do enjoy my PSP and PS3 from time to time though.
  17. Since the engine Blacks Ops runs on has been around for a long time and started life as a PC engine, it's pretty well optimised at this point. I don't know how the game itself is budgeted or how bugs effect the performance as I haven't played it however. You system could be improved if you don't want to throw down too much cash. Your CPU could be upgraded to a Core 2 Quad. You could also replace your graphics card with some low-mid range. A 5770 or whatever the current equivalent (~$150) is would be a good choice, in my opinion. Your motherboard also supports crossfire if you were interested in doubling up down the line. I'd also upgrade the RAM to 4gb of RAM (at least) and Windows 7 if you haven't already. If you want to hold onto your money, I'd say go for the upgrade. Your system isn't horribly outdated.
  18. Day 10: Feck! Not making it easy on us, are ya! Emmmmm, best gameplay....I couldn't name even my top ten. Best gameplay by genre I could probably come up with after a few days of thinking but I couldn't pick one off the top of my head. I'll say GT5 for the hell of it. I've yet to come across a racing game that feels as good to play.
  19. That's good to hear. Is this your first gaming PC? If it was, welcome to the glorious master PC race!
  20. Looks alright to me. Personally, I'd go for 2x4gb of DDR3. It'll mean you can still expand to 16gb down the road if you wanted to without switching out any sticks. The 300 isn't too roomy of a case either and while I know many people want to have small, compact PC's, you're really better off going with something with more room for two reasons: Easier to work with and keep tidy and better airflow/less chance temps will get too hot. Sticking with Antec, I'd go for the 600 or 900 instead. The 600 isn't much more expensive than the 300 but it's better suited for gaming.
  21. Any rugby fans here?

I still can't believe professional rugby players were caught out for being ahead of the kicker at a restart.

Yeah, what was up with England in that match. Ireland played their best game of the seasons but did England choke under the pressure of trying to win a grand slam. Nevertheless, it was a great game...at least if you're Irish. ;P

I'm gonna chalk this one down as a win for the British Isles. :P

  22. One cause of this could be the field of view of the game. I've heard a good many people complain that they get motion sickness or headaches when the FOV is too small. For many, it'd be their prime reason given for wanting a customisable FOV in a PC FPS. I can't say I have the same problem but small FOVs in FPS don't sit well with me either. I don't get motion sickness or headaches but it just feels off, as if I was wearing blinders.
  23. Day 9: Lost Oddessey, early in the game, not too long after meeting the two kids. I won't say anymore than that.
  24. Stainless Steel, I believe, is the mod you're thinking of. Great mod. I can completely understand why for some people, it just isn't their thing. Personally, I love them but I'm not going to begrudge anyone who doesn't. I'm contemplating getting into Total War modding with Shogun 2. I feel I've been playing the games long enough to be able to create a fun and balanced mod. That said, I hate Badmin and Malicious, just because they've played for longer.
