My copy is on it's way but I'm moving out on Wednesday and the Witcher book 'The Last Wish' is already supposed to have arrived. STRESS!

I disagree. If I said "I'm not buying MW2 because it has no dedicated servers on PC" and someone came back and said "So get it on console since it's all the same", I might reply (With no intent to gloat or to insult) "Nah, I don't play FPS on consoles, mouse and keyboard is just too much better than a controller for them". I don't see that as a dick move. I think that's one of the problems - Console gamers seeing any mention of PC's strengths as elitism. While you may not care, there are plenty of console gamers that do, if there were not, there would be no debate. If no one cared about PC gaming then so many console gamers wouldn't be chanting "PC gaming is dead", "PC gamers are elitist pricks" and "Hurhur! Crash! Drivers! Price!" in every PC article that appears on Kotaku. But they do and so they must care on some level. I don't see PC gamers too often gloating for gloating sake. In an article about specs, they may say "My system should eat this for breakfast" but that's more a sigh of relief on their part than it is gloating for gloating's sake. Alternatively, you may see PC gamers talking about how and with what settings they can run a game but again, this isn't always gloating. More often than not, it's just stating facts (This system with these components can run this game with these settings at this framerate). If you read gloating into that then that's your own issue. I also can't say it's common to see PC gamers ribbing on console gamers by mentioning how a game runs on their systems as those kinds of conversations are generally held between PC gamers. Neither do I and I don't know anyone that would identify as a PC gamer that would. Uncharted 2 is a fantastic looking game. That said, I wish it were on PC because as fantastic as it looks, it could look better. That's not a dig at consoles, mind you, just my opinion and a fact. I echo that sentiment. I feel however that it's important to point out that more power doesn't just translate into better graphics. It translates into better AI, bigger levels, better physics, etc, etc, etc. Reducing the advantages of PC gaming down to the graphics is common amongst naysayers but it's not right. the PC, as a games platform, has many advantages to it just as the consoles have their own advantages. Why can't we just accept those advantages regardless of what our favourite platform is and just get along?

Sorry, I don't mean to come across that way. The point I was getting at is that the PC vs Console debate and by extension the console vs console debate always boils to "they have more douchebags, we have less" or "We have more exclusives, they have less", etc, etc and leads onto "therefore we're better". It's so childish. It's very rarely that I see anyone bring legitimate comparisons into the debate without using them as a way to one-up their opposition. For instance, I could say "Mouse and keyboard is better for FPS games than a controller so if you're an FPS fan, it might be worth getting yourself a good PC for gaming" and someone will come back with "Well at least we don't have to spend $5,000 on our machines!" Yeah, the price difference is a legitimate argument to bring up but in the example above, it's brought up with no consideration as to whether the statement about m+kb holds any weight and that's what happens in just about every PC vs Console debate and Console vs Console debates tend to be no different. But that's the thing, many console gamers do talk shit about the PC and frequently. There's also more than just one quip they use against the PC. This is what I'm talking about, both sides take the "they hit first, we only hit back" approach but both sides fire just as many stones at one another. 1.PC's best graphics>Console's best graphics: That's not talking shit, that's stating facts. The fact of the matter is that to someone who plays games maxed out on a PC, console games don't look as good. It's like a PS3 player going back to play a PS2 game and finding they can't stay playing the game because of the graphical difference between the PS2 and PS3. 2. Mouse and Keyboard ARE better for some games. 3. Games ARE being dumbed down because of consoles. You write all that off as talking shit but the way I see it, it's PC gamers stating facts (Mouse and Keyboard are better for some games and PC graphics are better than console graphics) and stating concern for the future of their platform of choice (games being dumbed down because of console focus). Sure, there are those who'll take the above facts and use them to appear better than console gamers but they're not the whole, they're not even the majority. Just because someone mentions some aspect of the PC as a games platform that's better than consoles, it doesn't mean it was brought up to insult, degrade or devalue consoles or console gamers.

Your view tends to be the one that annoys me the most out of all the PC vs Console debates. Sure, there are a lot of douchebags on PC but there are just as much on console yet every time, it's always "MOST PC gamers are douchebags, Console gamers CAN be douchebags" or vice versa. Statistically speaking, there are likely more douchebags playing only consoles than there are douchebags playing only PCs. The fraction of the respective playerbases that are douchebags are likely very similar. PC gaming is great but it has it's flaws. Console gaming is great but it has it's flaws. Gaming is awesome and we all need to learn how to get on with each other. This tit-for-tat, console wars/console VS PC bullshit is only going to work against us. So PC gamers complain that there are no dedicated servers in the latest multiplayer game, why should they be accused of whining for doing so? Why are so many console gamers all too happy to lambaste requests like that from PC gamers and settle for shitty p2p networks? Why can't we work together for the common good of gaming? I don't know, I'm just so fed up of this kind of shit these days.

Tried making it look as close to me as possible.

You're not the only one. To be completely honest, Dwarf Fortress can feck off for all I care, I can see the great potential of the game but it's so stubbornly difficult to pick up that it's insulting and then there's the bunch of elitists in the community that will spit on anyone for criticising that aspect of it. Give me a more intuitive interface and some half-way decent graphics as default and I might be tempted to play but as it stands, I don't have any great intent to returning to climb that gargantuan slope to play a game that's more trouble than it's worth.

I feel the same way about The Witcher. One thing that did bother me was the start of the game though, like many others I found it hard to continue playing at that point but once I got through it, it was all plain sailing.

You could get a 1tb HDD for around $50 on Newegg so I highly doubt that a console manufacturer like Nintendo would be paying $50 per HDD (That would likely be a quarter of the size) from an OEM.
-
That was one of the big reasons that I enjoyed The Witcher so much, they're using it as a one of the main selling points of The Witcher 2. I suppose Bioware's moral system serves a purpose. It allows younger gamers to play around with moral dilemmas.....without the dillemas. As for Sigfried, he was useless and whether it was due to bad AI or not, it worked for his character.

I believe the coupon is for the free game (your choice) they're giving to those who preordered and I think all the preorders are off until futher notice. Not sure though.

"I want a star so people can see my shit. Down with segregation!!! ! "
-
Yeah, I figure they want to get the PC version out there and working in good condition before they start on any console versions. I could see them perhaps going back to finish Rise of the White Wolf for consoles first and perhaps continuing on by adapting the second game to fit in with that version of The Witcher.

I can understand the logic behind charging for mod licenses...at least in some way... but in practice, it would be an awful idea. I imagine the prospect of more money was tantalising to Notch but I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt that the idea wasn't spawned out of pure greed or maybe it was and he was trying to see how far the community was willing to let him go. Regardless, I have a feeling that ideas like this won't be too uncommon with Mojang as they grow but I'm willing to overlook them so long as they remain just ideas. P.S. Could I get whitelisted for the TAY server? Name is the same as here. I've been meaning to ask but I kept putting it off. I want to check out everyone's work. P.P.S. People need to stop with this "would of, could of, should of" thing. It's would Have! G'damnit! *ahem* Sorry, just seeing it more and more lately and it's starting to annoy me.

PSN users' personal details compromised
MasterDex replied to excel_excel's topic in PlayStation Games
Yeah, I'm feeling the same way about all this. I'm still going to do a quick security check just to be on the safe side but I'm honestly not really worried. I will say though that I think Sony really handled this badly. If they had any suspicion that personal information may have been compromised, they should have said so as soon as the suspicion arose. Then again, I don't know why I expected any different. Sony is terrible at PR (that goes for marketing too). -
Sounds promising so far...apart from the lack of graphics options. I wonder if they did this as a bit of a joke, it's a stretch but I mean, why wouldn't they add in proper graphical options? It's not like they're building the game on consoles, that version isn't even set in stone yet. I'm not too worried about the different choices not having an immediate effect, The Witcher was much the same in that regard. There's a link to a comparison of the low and high settings there: Link. Low doesn't look too bad, all things considered. This is a Day 1 buy for me anyway, loved The Witcher and I'm sure I'll love this.

No it does not, stop making things up. It's the same as saying video games are aimed at children. It kind of does though. Say cartoon to any regular joe and they'll probably think "Children's show" before they think "Oh! Like Archer and South Park!".
-
I'm not saying anime should be excluded from the cartoon umbrella. What I'm saying is that there are diferrences between western cartoons and anime/Japanese cartoons/whatever you want to call them and it goes beyond the art techniques and styles and they should be acknowledged rather than treating both types of cartoon as the same thing because they aren't. Anime is the general word for anime in Japan. Anime in the west, however, is the general word for Japanese animation in particular. Re: Metal. While subgenres still fall under the same general genre, there are vast differences between them. Someone who like Death Metal might hate Symphonic Metal or Black Metal and vice versa. The labels exist for a reason and there's no reason not to apply them unless you're speaking in the broadest of terms.
-
In that case then all the subgenres of metal music are ridiculous too. The difference in classification is there for a reason - to distinguish between western cartoons and Japanese cartoons. While some may share similarities, there are far more differences between the two, even if they are both animated.
-
I wouldn't consider it scolding, more pointing out the differences. Yes, cartoons and anime are really the same thing but to the average westerner, cartoon=children's animation, anime=Japanese animation and animated series=mature animation. It's all semantics but there are different connotations that go along with them.

You...hate...me? But I'm so cuddly and-hang on a sec. *cracks neck*. As I was saying...

But what if a person is gay AND fat? I mean is that like a double whammy or something? I guess I'm a bit fat and just want to get not fat Meh, it's more like you've got loose skin from when you were a bit fat so you just need to tone it up. Now I'm fat. Not hugely fat but I've got quite a beer belly and big thighs. I want to start boxing again....or studying a martial art. I need to start cycling again too....and give up the cigerettes...and change my diet...I have a long road ahead of me.

I concur. So I just finished reading volume 27 of the Berserk manga (finally! It only took me like 2 years to get around to it!) and just as I went searching for the rest of the volumes released so far, I come across great news that I completely missed out on at the end of last year. The Berserk anime is coming back and it'll be back this year, beginning with a feature-length theatrical release (which I assume will probably cover the same ground the original anime covered) and continue with a series with the intention of continuing through until the end. I can only hope the show isn't toned down or censored (At least too heavily) as the gore, brutality and graphic imagery is part of the story. ANN News Release Now, back to pilfering the manga.

What about Sin City? Comic.

That was a good explanation. One thing I would say is that I don't like the use of 'British Isles' to refer to the islands of Ireland and Great Britain.. Personally, I feel it's an outdated label that should be done away with and I'm sure many other Irish people feel the same. If I was referring to them, I'd call them 'The Islands of Great Britain and Ireland'. It's nitpicking but I seriously don't like that label.
