  1. Archer is great. The latest episode of the second season was funny as fook.
  2. Don't you mean Square Enix?
  3. I think they've just settled on robbing us blind, lol.
  4. That's the part I'm worried about. Their ports were nothing outstanding, and certainly nothing to be praised about. To me, it can easily go down either path. The last few Tomb Raider ports were alright. They weren't spectacular but there wasn't anything critically wrong with them. I think Kayne and Lynch 2's problems wen't beyond any porting issues. I'm with you though, I can see it easily going down either path but damnit! I gotta keep the dream alive! :'(
  5. Are you serious?! Shogun 2 is fantastic! One of the worst RTS games you've ever played? What ranks as the best then, in your opinion? Also, what do you mean by "people are actually playing Shogun now?"? The game was just released last week!
  6. You shouldn't need more than a 500w PSU for that build just from a quick glance. The most important factor to keep in mind is quality. Many cheap PSUs might have the wattage you're looking for but the quality of the cables or overall build quality may mean that the power required isn't going to the rails. With this in mind, get yourself a PSU that has a solid warranty from a respected brand that reviewed well. It may cost more than 80 quid but you can rest assured that it shouldn't fail you through any fault of its own and if it does, that you can get a replacement. Don't stop reading just yet though. With many first-time builds and even subsequent builds once you're used to the process, you'll find that you may have simply left a cable unplugged or at the least and most commonly, not plugged in right. Before you go out and buy a new PSU, check that all cables are seated correctly. This may not be your problem but static electricity is a major killer of electronic equipment so be sure to have yourself earthed before touching any components and do so preferebly with no long sleeves or wooly tops. It's things like that that are making me think my next build will be an AMD build. I like to leave a path open to upgrade without having to replace the motherboard and Intel isn't making that easy. I don't think that's a fair appraisal and I'm going to have to say I respectfully disagree with your sentiments. Nvidia has had their own share of problems with drivers (remember the ones that overheated and even killed some cards last year?) and ATIs driver support has been improving over the last year or so. Also, never able to use multiple displays?
  7. At this point, it doesn't seem like we have too much to worry about. The game itself seems to be designed from a neutral base (mechanics and gameplay-wise) and since the PC porting team have experience porting games to PC, we shouldn't have too much to worry about in that department (apart from perhaps lower texture resolutions than we deserve, mouse acceleration and a fe bugs and glitches here and there). ....At least, I hope so. Let's just say I'm cautiously optimistic for now.
  8. Wow! That is just crazy money! This makes me think of their stance of "1 pirated copy=1 lost sale". It's all beginning to spiral out of control. Yes, piracy needs to be curbed. Yes, the industry deserves some compensation from businesses like Limewire for their blatent disregard for copyright law. However, under no circumstances, should the ball be kept in the industries court and controlled to the degree that they want to control it. The one question I always keep asking myself when I see shit like this is: Why the hell hasn't anyone started reevaluating copyright law. In the digital age, it's outmoded. Industries can't exhibit the same control over their IPs that they could before. It just isn't possible. If copyright law isn't revisted and intelligently modified to be relevant and enforcable in the the digital age then things are just going to get worse and worse for everyone involved.
  9. Perfectly appropriate quote, FLD! I'd wager you would have though more if it, Dean, had it not been built up by so many people. It was like when I went and saw Inception after hearing everyone rave at it. I was like "Yeah, it's good but it's not fantastic." I just couldn't get the big draw and felt a bit let down that it didn't meet my bloated expectations. The Big Lebowski is a classic for sure. If you're a weed man, I'd suggest watching it stoned - best way to watch it in my opinion.
  10. Yeah, I know that. When I was talking about the market and EA, it was to do with the game as a whole. Ok... how can I put this... I know for a fact that EA are not directly responsible for the content of the game. Any design choices, art choices anything that wasn't the box, the marketing or the delivery of the product were made by Crytek. EA advised and supported Crytek where requested but the multi player, the single player, the menus, were all developed by Crytek. The game as a whole would have been developed the way it was with or without EA's involvement, the market can take their share of the "blame" (if that's the right word) though. I stand firmly corrected.
  11. I enjoy a bit of DOWII from time to time though I haven't played multiplayer much at all. I'd be up for a game sometime but after I get Retribution.
  12. Yeah, I know that. When I was talking about the market and EA, it was to do with the game as a whole.
  13. Just for the record, the games EA publishes on behalf of external developers, they often have little or no creative control over. They don't set or enforce release dates, they don't directly control content and while they offer support where requested they most certainly are not responsible for the actual multiplayer code of a title. Many times EA will be responsible only for packaging, marketing and shipping a title and sometimes EA will literally only be responsible for putting the finished product in crates and transporting it where it needs to be. Yeah, you're right and I'm probably wrong but I have a feeling EA played more than a facilitatory role in the development of Crysis 2.
  14. Day 8: This is a hard one....which Nobuo Uematsu soundtrack do I pick?! I loved FFV's soundtrack but FFIV and FFIX were fantastic....I'd probably have to go with FFIX....probably. I DON'T KNOW! THIS IS TOO HARD!
  15. So I got my first cornfielding. From Luke too! Go me! http://kotaku.com/#!cornfield/forum

  16. Go to the TAY steam group page (also our clan page; join up with our clan in the game newcomers!). You can see how many hours we've all played. Ranking up involves doing the avatar multiplayer mode. Just do automatches and take territory to gain experience and rank up. I meant how do I rank up as in how do I compare, lol. I think I'm rank 2 in avatar multiplayer...or I'm halfway there. I've only won 1/3 battles...or was it 1/4. It's not been a great start anyway.
  17. Day 7: Drake and Elena I don't know why but it seemed like the VAs had good chemistry together and it showed through in the game. I liked their interactions and their facial expressions towards each other, they felt very genuine.
  18. I was going to post this in the shoutbox but it's a bit long winded for that so I'll post it here. You haven't played many MP demos on PC though' date=' to be fair. Let's not start raging too prematurely. We can all see that the consoles were the prime focus for Crysis 2 but we can blame that on the market and EA (and yes, even the pirates) as much as we can blame Crytek. MP demos and MP games generally never release in a good state. Developers always underestimate the network load (why spend more when you might only need less?) and this can cause all kinds of timeout problems and so on and yeah, the network code likely played a role too but again, that's the case for many newly released MP games. In fact, I don't actually recall the last time I got a MP game on Day 1 that worked well. It's a shame this is the way things are gone and it's a shame that DX10/DX11 aren't there from day 1 but it's not there for Shogun 2 either and that game had some MP issues (and seems to still) right out the door. Have we all forgotten how Bad Company 2, even TF2, released? My point is that we shouldn't start getting mad just yet because then we're just turning ourselves into those horrible tantrum throwers you see signing up on official game forums just to say they hate the game and start crying when a patch is a day overdue because a problem was found in testing. The days of perfect AAA budget games is long gone (If it ever even existed) and while I'm sure there'll be plenty of reasons to make us rage about Crysis 2, I think we should at least wait until it's a month out the door before slamming Crytek [i']too[/i] hard.
  19. I'm only seeing my own friends list with that link so I'm probably missing a few people from your list but I've played just over 28 hours since getting it. How do I rank up to everyone else?
  20. I use media monkey. For the longest time, I used WMP but then it started questioning my music rights and a bunch of my music disappeared from the library. The reason I liked WMP in the first place was because of its good library management and tagging and that's why I settled on Media Monkey.
  21. In primary school, cursive was dug into us to the point where it was the way I wrote naturally. Of course, once I started secondary school, it was all about making it legible. The amount of times I had to redo essays because the teacher couldn't read a word I wrote! A 30 minute piece of work became a two hour exercise in paitence as I forced myself to write clearly. Anyway, here's a modern example of my writing: Lol, I just noticed that even my cursive has degraded into a frankenstien version of its former glory. The shame!
  22. Are you using an ATI card by any chance? I've read some reports that people with 11.x ATI drivers were having problems with starting the game but rolling back to 10.x drivers seemed to be the solution. That said, I'vegot an ATI card myself and I'm using the 11.2 drivers and it's working fine. I felt it was worth mentioning all the same.
  23. The mod improves the Realm Divide event making it so your strongest allies remain your allies while everyone else turns on you, makes it much more manageable. I thought I joined the TAY clan...maybe I didn't, I think there were some problems with the multiplayer servers when I went to check it out. I'm done for the night now but I'll check it out tomorrow.
  24. So I just became Shogun playing as the Hattori clan. I'm not sure how much I like everyone (even campaign-long allies) suddenly turn on you. It keeps a challenge there but it's messed up that you're expected to defend your lands from every single clan after you become Shogun with no chance of any alliances ever again because the other clan's opinions of you are all like -400. Edit: After a bit of forum searching, I found this mod @ TWCenter that keeps the game from devolving into a You vs Everyone Else gauntlet when the Realm Divide event occurs.
  25. I'd definitely be interested in doing so and I'm currently trying to coax Excel into buying it (he seems to have a fear of strategy games). Didn't play it much yesterday but I doubt I'll put it down at all today.
