PC Amalur demo only available through Origin. Gave it a run because I didn't have any problems with it (I only ever used it for BF3 beta), and it seems fine... so far. It's already been a little dodgy in the connection stage.

I'd imagine the combat scheme on PC (should they so pull through with it) might work something similar to Witcher 2. As mentioned earlier, just make it so that the PVP servers won't recognize modded copies. That way, everyone wins... unless you wanted to cheat online, of course.

So I'm playing STALKER SoC Complete, and I've just cleared a camp of Mercs in Rostok. So I'm on my merry way back to the Bar, just a few meters from the exit when--OH GOD SO MANY DOGS AND BLOODSUCKERS WHERE DID YOU GUYS COME FROM.

Fuck. You have no idea how much I want to play it but I have other games to beat. What makes it hard? I'm reading Roadside Picnic. I've seen the movie. This series is amazing.

It's hard being that you can be prepared as much as you want, it's always the unexpected that's going to give you hell.
And the unexpected has a habit of occurring quite often in STALKER.
You can run around with the most powerful artifacts, weapons, and armor in the game and still get torn apart because you weren't ready or able to adapt quick enough.

Case in point: Monolith one-shotted me with their gauss rifle snipers with relatively no effort on their part. Nasty stuff.

Playing as Imperial Guard in Retribution is satisfying. They're weak, but when used properly with advance and reinforce tactics, then they're practically unstoppable. Having much more fun than I did as Space Marines.

I'd trade but it would seem that Steam Inventory is having some problems and it won't even open. And in the case it does (which was once), trying to trade makes it glitch out. Not cool. On the other hand, I did get the Frozen Synapse achievement and got another coal. Woo.

This new Steam Christmas thing with the giveaways is like the most insane gambling game there is. Every single game on Steam? Madness... Also, coupons, too, and it only adds to the gambling part. I got 33% Off Any Valve Title. Boo. Wanted coal.

Steam has a strange glitch. Occasionally when I try to launch a game, it'll say "Loading [game name]..." and then the window disappear and reappear repeatedly, and the game doesn't even launch, just keep going on an endless loop of "launching" the game until I exit Steam and restart it. Have no idea what's causing it.

Not sure if this is related, but I've had a couple of "Game is unavailable right now. Please try again later" glitches. All this week. This plus the spotty chat connection all week makes me think something's definitely up with Steam lately.

It's not the game itself; the game never launches. It just keeps repeating "Launching game..." on and off. First it happened to Borderlands, and then Skyrim.

It might be DX related. I've found a few games that would do that until I found there was a DX dll that was missing. Once I put the right dll in the game folder, it'd start. Might not be the same problem but it's worth looking into.

The Tiberium Alliances trailer makes me weep for what was once such a highly-regarded RTS series. It's essentially a half-dead cash cow now.

Yeah, now let's move this thread into the PC games section where it belongs. The Bioware name is nice for the attention, but I'm glad that it's not actually Bioware making it, just Victory Games. Still happy it's getting a sequel, though.

Strangely enough, my first marriage is the only one that's worked correctly for me. It was Ysolda, and she now happily resides in Proudspire Manor where I occasionally pop in from time to time when not going on ADVENTURE! My second character's (thief dude) wife was Muiri, but something horribly bugged out and I can't seem to find her anywhere, not even in Markarth. On another note, though, I think it's pretty damn awesome that my Skyrim can run on high/ultra without a hitch despite my computer barely passing minimum requirements.

The backwards dragon is the only problem I have. It prevents them from landing on the ground because they get all jittery while flying in the air. They sometimes like to swoop in low for a fire breath strafing run, but they just won't land. And I like being able to kill dragons.

Is there any fix for the backwars-flying ass-dragon? I'm pretty much off of Skyrim until they fix that. I like being able to kill dragons. And not having them fly around as if they were hopped up on crack and caffeine.

Reading some news about Halo 4. Still wish MS would release the PC versions of the rest of the series. It'd go a long way to show that they're still serious about PC gaming (which, honestly, they're not, so I'm not holding my breath).

I agree the setting is pretty generic, but the gameplay/design has its own unique feel.

The whole regenerating health/shield and two weapons at a time. I guess relatively unique at the time.

I've also heard that the Workshop even auto-installs those mods for you. Anyways, I've encountered the butt-backwards flying dragon problem, so I'll just be waiting until they patch the patch next week. Quite timely, too, since my finals are also next week. Being able to see Skyrim again after my study spree and finals are a good motivation.

Man, Windows 7 is expensive. Really expensive. Even for just the upgrade disc, it's still pretty damn expensive.

The new patch is 100% fucking retarded. I can't launch Skyrim anymore because it won't let me run the game in compatibility mode. But I NEED to run it in compatibility mode otherwise the game gives 2-7 second-long freezes every 15 seconds with a very common occurrence of catastrophic system lock-up (a problem which also resulted from Bethesda's horrible optimization). Thanks, Bethesda. Thanks for nothing.

As a current student of the UC system, I agree, screw the UC system. Also, fuck EVERYTHING about having engineering majors pick their classes LAST. Every single other damn major gets priority in enrollment schedules. It's gotta be the most ass-backwards shit I've ever seen.

Was going to buy BF3: Limited Edition for Christmas, but then realized that I didn't have the OS required to run it. Bummer. Might buy MW3 if it drops in price, but fat chance of that happening.

I was on XP until a year ago. It's a good OS. I didn't realize games other than MS's were dropping support for it.

I'm considering upgrading to Win7 soon, along with a RAM upgrade. Can the 32-bit Win7 run with 8 GBs of RAM? I will try to get 8 if it allows it, but 4 works fine, too.
