  1. Which one(s) have you tried reading? I had always wanted to read Dickens novel then when I was 15ish we studied Hard Times in class. Luckily we stopped about 2 chapters in because it was awful and I was convinced I'd never pick up a Dickens ever again. Skip ahead a couple of years and my friend (who had also suffered through Hard Times with me) decided to read Great Expectations, since he was applying for English Lit. like me and wanted to broaden his literary scope in preparation for uni interviews. He told me it was much better than Hard Times and that he was really enjoying it. Sceptically I read the first few pages and confirmed that it was infinitely better than Hard Times. I still haven't read it yet but I plan to one day. And the moral of the story is: don't judge Dickens by just one of his book. I read three of his books, actually: Great Expectations, A Tale of Two Cities, and if I recall the last one I read was David Copperfield. Maybe it's because of the setting or the characters, but I never really did care much for his literature.
  2. When Oblivion first came out, I went over to the Best Buy that was a few blocks from my house. I went inside, and noticed that they were flat out of Oblivion copies for the PC. I asked one of the employees if they had any spare copies, and he went to fetch one. After roughly 20 minutes, he returned to me with a copy of Oblivion... for the Xbox 360. "Oh, do you have any copies for the PC?" He looked kind of contemptuous when I said "PC." Suffice to say, I didn't go back. Nowadays if I want anything I either purchase it online or don't buy it at all.
  3. How do you navigate their site? I've been looking at it and all I can see is a bunch of subscription stuff.
  4. I know it is, but it's been very reliable thus far. It's a shame to let it go.
  5. Ah, I remember reading that one as well. It didn't strike me as pretentious though, what parts of it did you think was pretentious? The only books I've never, ever been able to get into were Charles Dickens' books. Eurgh.
  6. I'd say it's a motherboard issue. Though it's a kind of expensive guess to go on. However if it's something wrong with installing software, it may be worth giving the OS a re-install. Might just be a tad broken. Reformatted and installed my OS about three times now. I'm pretty positive it's the motherboard. The baby's almost 10 years old, I think it's time for her to go.
  7. So gentlemen, two weeks ago my computer stopped functioning normally. I won't take any pictures because there doesn't seem to be any damage, but all of a sudden one day my computer started returning "corrupt memory" whenever I try to install something (as in, the installer returns a "cannot finish, memory corrupted" error). As far as I see, everything SEEMS to run normally, particularly the Steam games, except after a while the graphics start fritzing out. I tried swapping out RAM, the problem still persisted. I'm almost certain it has something to do with my motherboard but I'm not quite sure. Opinions?
  8. One of the best books I've ever read. After 1984, Brave New World seemed like a bastardized cousin in terms of plot, really.
  9. If it's easy to produce fuels using this method, each country would effectively be able to produce its own fuel supply, with the possible exception of un-industrialized/Third World countries. I can only imagine how much the United States would capitalize on this since its military is HEAVILY reliant on fuels.
  10. Did they state the conditions the land must be in? If it can be produced artificially we could just place it in the deserts and produce them there.
  11. Wow, whoever gets this thing running successfully first will probably become the world's next billionaire.
  12. But the thing is, I like eggs. Well, I like throwing them at people. That's how I troll in real life!
  13. In my opinion, it looks like they focused more on the survival aspect of the game rather than the horror this time. It's still an interesting premise, the Necromorphs offer some pretty quirky background to the whole pseudo-zombie thing.
  14. Or maybe when the game detects one side only has X amount of players remaining, it initiates auto-balance for teams.
  15. I remember people talking about an insane head-twisting glitch that happens when you first start Fallout New Vegas. Apparently the doctor who saved you would have his head rotating as he talked to you when you first woke up. I was fortunate enough not to experience it myself. /whistle
  16. I never figured out which editor liked what genre in all my time at Kotaku. Did they spell this out in some #note post or something?
  17. So gentlemen, I've been contemplating purchasing the Killing Floor bundle on Steam. Thoughts?

I'm actually waiting on a special for it. $30 is a lot of money for the whole bundle.

  18. Man, the Skyline is one of my favorite cars of all time lol. Can't say much about FF, though. As for my name, I got it from Oblivion. No joke.
  19. Oh wow, I did not notice this until now. Crecente*. Not Crescente. Lol.
  20. From what I see the ad delay of 15 seconds still works, regardless whether or not you have an ad-blocker. Ugh.
  21. Ironically enough, I never finished the first game, but I definitely enjoyed CoP.
  22. Anyways, speaking seriously... -As a villain I am silent. I do not have a monologue. I just stare at you. -My signature attack would be a wall of daggers thrown straight at you. I have the ability to completely vanish, both visibly and on any detection devices you may have. I have 666 forms, or "lives" in this case since I do not technically change. -My dying quote would be to jump on the hero and detonate my explosive vest. Uber-assassin ftw!
