  1. The Graveyard. I actually really like the games Tale of Tales have made, and intend to play whatever they might release in the future. But I know pretentious when I see it. The only difference between 'playing' The Graveyard and watching an entire playthrough on YouTube is that on YouTube you don't have to hold the up arrow on your keyboard to move the old bag forward. Its artistic message is thinly veiled and rather hollow. And it's like 5 minutes long so I don't have anything else to say about it. Also; fuck these:
  2. BLOOD. It's a build engine game that rips on horror movies. Really funny and it has a lot of insane weapons. Probably my second favourite Build engine game after Duke Nukem 3D. Blood 2 sucks though. Avoid.
  3. Not nearly enough BLOOD in this thread. Hahahahahahahahahaha- voodoo doll ^^
  4. This is a must-see. Don't spoil it for yourself though. It starts out looking a lot like a side project for a couple of amateur filmmakers, but when the big twist hits and they realize what they have on their hands the movie suddenly starts looking a lot more professional. It's pretty cool. Also, I've only seen 2 of the movies nominated for best picture this year and the main character got their arm cut off in both of them. Interesting trend.
  5. But now I've gone and thrown it all away. Mamaaaaaaaaa~ oohOOOHooh
  6. Tuesday sounds about right if others are down. Gameplay sucks if you play it right but it's one of the more fun games to exploit and do stupid tricks in.
  7. I've always had a thing against servers. I like the multiplayer experience to be consistent and accessible. It's too hard to find vanilla games with servers, they're always running some kind of mod or sound pack, or not rotating maps. When you do find a server you like, you're often forced to play with a lot of the same people who frequent that server and you don't see as much variety in the strategies they use. Plus, shit tends to get clique-y on servers like that, and all of a sudden the 'no swearing' rule only applies to you, or everyone follows suit when some n00b accuses you of cheating, that kind of thing.
  8. Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy?
  9. Can you get it without GPS? I'm a bit paranoid about that shit.
  10. HAY GUYS LETS DO SCIENCE! You've already purchased it with your tax dollars, get it here... http://store.steampowered.com/app/39000/?snr=1_6_4__13
  11. PC multiplayer has always been a bit of a shitshow imo. I can't stand server lists, promods, endless games, inconsistent stats, and worst of all that goddamn Unreal announcer voice. I'll never play a multiplatform game online on PC unless I have a damn good reason to (like TF2; with all its pretty updates).
  12. Tried out the demo last night. Was holding out for the PC version but after seeing footage I couldn't resist giving it a shot. I think I'm just gonna get it on both now. Mostly wanted it for graphics/mods/making videos of 10000 explosive barrels falling out of the sky so for a while PC was the way to go; but I didn't think I would loooooooooove the multiplayer this much. I'm kind of glad they went all CoD with it; didn't much like the Crysis Wars game just because I can't stand long distance combat; makes it feel too much like a game of i Spy rather than an actual test of ability. The LMG seems overpowered though. Anyone else feel that?
  13. Oh useful! This site tells you if MineCraft is working; http://mc.nexua.org/

  14. Me neither, but I'm pretty sure 3D Realms did most of the work on this one and I can dig that. Sure they haven't made a game since 1997, but frankly I'm too excited to see another game by them to worry too much about whether or not they can hold their own against modern developers. I was always more of a 3D Realms kid than an id kid. Build engine games were so awesome.
  15. My favourite part of the trailer was everything. Also; brief shrink ray footage @ 1:35 in the first vid. FUCK YES SHRINK RAY.
  16. Have you thought about maybe changing the meta-game? http://www.ubercharged.net/2008/09/24/the-tf2-drinking-game/
  17. The Club and Blur are almost exactly the same game; except one is a racing game where you shoot and the other one is a shooting game where you race.

I use Logitech G-Series for everything; usually asking for the latest models every Christmas. Recently my G9 has been acting up and I've gone back to the G5. I gotta say, if you don't upgrade from the G5 to the G9 you're not missing much. I find the G9 much more comfortable after a bit of use, and it has 5 DPI settings instead of 3. Unless you absolutely need those DPI settings I would just grab whichever one looked more comfortable to you. The ergonomics are probably the biggest difference between the two; the G5 is more of a long mouse while the G9 is a wider one with changeable grips, though those are a hassle to change and you'll probably just stick with the rugged one anyways. On the other hand if you're still using the G15 I would update ASAP, but that's another thread.
  19. Speaking of great games, commercial failures; Bizarre Creations is shutting down. Apparently poor sales of Blur are to blame. I guess I can't say much since I didn't buy it either, but I heard it was good. Sucks that poor sales of a new IP are enough to take down legacies like Geometry Wars or PGR. Most importantly, we'll never get that sequel to The Club that was totally going to come out eventually at least in my mind. The Club is like the ultimate great game/commercial failure imo.
  20. I don't think I ever really had a genre preference. I actually make a bit of an attempt to follow up each game with a very different one. There was a point in my early university years where I was hardcore into shmups, wouldn't play anything else, but that maybe lasted a year at most. The only genre I tend to specifically avoid is MMOs, mostly because I read the horror stories surrounding them and think "Yup, that sounds like me!" (though I did get into the APB beta; but sadly it really is as bad as everyone says). I actually shrugged off RTS games in the period between WarCraft 3 and StarCraft 2 since I wasn't all that impressed with WC3 or anything else that was being released around the same time. I picked up SC2 though and my StarCraft-obsessed friend said that I was a bit of a natural and should keep up with it so I did, and as a result I've been playing RTS games more than anything lately. I still think the genre itself is somewhat lacking in great titles though; I've been trying to play a bit of catch up with the CnC series(es) and Supreme Commander and such, but thus far Company of Heroes is really the only other RTS that blows me away. I really love first person shooters but I'm totally burnt out at this point too. The saturation is a bit ridiculous, and it's getting to the point where developers are favouring solid gameplay over new ideas. While I can see how that creates a better competitive environment for longer lasting multiplayer, when every single game does it it gets to a point where there isn't enough variety between the titles and all you're doing is splitting up communities. I'm seriously thinking that that Gameloft CoD rip off on PSN might actually be as worthwhile as picking up any of the other Modern Warclones on the market right now.
  21. Should I switch to Protoss?

OH DON'T GET ME STARTED ON THOSE DAMN ZERG...

Ideally I'd like to be able to efficiently play random, but I have way too many problems playing Zerg that I don't see myself getting used to. Queen mechanics, droning, detection and AA, all things I was never capable of while playing Zerg.

    3. Pirandello

      Pirandello

Play Space Marines. They're OP, even against Terran!

Wait, I'm thinking about that crossover game that never happened. Nevermind.

    4. Enervation

      Enervation

Back in mah day, we called the Zerg "aliens", and we called the Proh-tuss "aliens."

  22. Nah, I'm one of the few on this board that still likes Kotaku; but listing out their actual preferences was kind of dull. I don't think I said anything negative; except about Tim, who realistically should stop playing. He needs less to write about.
  23. Luke - Fighters (period.) Ashcraft - Anything made before 1998 or in Japan Totilo - games for BROS Fehey - Erotic/furry games (and MMOs, not that they really fall into a separate category) McWhertor - Has an awesome beard, can play whatever he wants Owen - Sports and whatever the current trend is in Balance Board fitness Tim - Should stop playing Crecente - iPhone games and other shit no one cares about
  24. Yeah, it's free, but I donated a bit to unlock the extra player slots.
