GeoHot asks for donations to fight Sony’s PS3 hacking lawsuit

Like Chrno said; it mostly affects bunkers and pylons. There used to be a way that you could throw down 2 bunkers at the bottom of a ramp to contain someone. In games where zerg players would fast expand, it was extremely difficult to counter after the bunkers went up. I'm afraid I can't find a replay of this at the moment, but I'm sure there are a ton out there. There are a few rushes and cheeses for each race. 6-pools, zealots, cannons, and banshees are the ones you'll probably have to watch out for most. I've seen a build for a Battlecruiser rush before but it leaves you defenseless for quite a while.

Was just looking over the last few pages and found it kind of interesting that (unless I'm missing something) nobody seems to have bought any games in February that actually came out in February. Guess it hasn't really been particularly spectacular month though. Or maybe that cheap games thread is rubbing off on people.

The number of people who disliked this video were in some way violated in a manner similar to the content that the video presents. Thumbs up if you agree.

That cover just makes me wanna play Hatris.

So wait; the EU version isn't about a detective?

Been playing this SC custom map a bit. It's essentially DotA without the bullshit; no experience, no creeps, no upgrades, just a straight up 3v3 with a bunch of abilities. Also; did I just see a Nazi triceratops with a mounted turret? Day one purchase.

Yay, Terran player! 15-17 is fine for an orbital; depending on the build. I think it's typically closer to 16/17 but that's hardly gonna lose you games. I used to do a similar marine/thor/medivac composition in most of my builds; marines are ridiculous in massive numbers with full upgrades but I eventually found it more and more common that people would know how to hard counter it. If you don't know what you're scouting for, I wouldn't bother doing it on two player maps. Maybe on four player maps, just so you know where the guy is, but that scv is going to give you something like 125 minerals in the time it would have taken to circle around the enemy base and come back. There's a Swedish Terran named Sjow whose been doing amazing in tournaments lately who doesn't even use the early scv scout in a lot of match ups. I lurk the TL forums quite a bit and while he was getting popular there was quite a bit of discussion on whether or not it was worth scouting. Honestly though, I prefer to know what my opponent is doing; I'm still not confident enough with my builds to know for sure that I can make them work against any cheese. I started scouting after losing to a couple 2 gate zealot rushes. I'd check the replays and notice that in any game where the Protoss went 2 gate before core I would typically lose. After that, I started scouting for it and was able to time a bunker into my build and wall up if I saw it. It probably saved me from a few losses. Your problems with having too many minerals and not expanding fast enough go hand in hand. Your build seems to have the timing for an expansion, you're just not executing it. But there's usually a reason you're floating a lot more minerals than gas. You could also throw down more barracks/reactors if you like marines; they're a good all-purpose unit that are fun to mass, but expanding is almost always better.

Frankly, playing against a very easy AI is better training that practice matches. Practice matches play on a ridiculously slow speed and the rocks make air units dominant and fast expansions non-existent on those 'novice' maps. Also; I've been using this to track my progression in multiplayer and it's pretty sweet; also has an auto-save feature for replays; http://sites.google.com/site/sc2gears/ It mostly only checks for and reads replay files so you can't be banned for using it since it doesn't interfere with the actual game. Been playing a lot lately and right now TvT is my favourite match-up. I've won all my games since I started doing this build a little while ago... http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=189624 Highly recommend that; it's not as hard as the post suggests. Also; did you guys hear about/are you super excited for the North American Star League? http://www.nasl.tv/ It's got a bigger prize pool than GSL! Hope it gets enough attention to maybe give a little more fame to esports outside of Korea.

I think everyone knows this is coming to consoles, Blizzard just won't come out and say it for whatever reason. I'm guessing it's because they tend to cancel projects that they aren't 100% satisfied with (like SC: Ghost or WarCraft Adventures; which both look like they would have been great), and they're probably not comfortable with their ability to develop for consoles. I'm sure it'll turn out fine though. I'm just dying to get into the beta for this one. My friends and I had so many D2 lans last summer. Is there a date for the beta yet?

I actually kind of had a feeling that I wouldn't be eligible for this reason, so I went over all their contest rules I could find before I entered. Didn't see anything about that until their next contest where they seemed to make a point of it. On top of that, Brian could have responded to any of the 3 emails and 2 pm's I sent him. Rather than me writing him each week a simple "We don't ship prizes to Canada" would have sufficed. I probably could have even gotten somebody I knew in the US to pick them up for me if I had any warning. But it was just weeks of waiting and wondering and no responses.

It was so long ago that I'll never be able to find it, but this one time some guy was going on about how cool it would be to see Link and Mario on another console; and I was all...

But wasn't it cool when you did that kick through the helicopter at the end...

The Ballad of Gay Tony Hawk. Also; "Truthseeker: Battle Against the Lies" is the most repulsive title for anything, ever.

I stopped going after the redesign; mostly due to a combination of that and the security fiasco (and cause they still never sent me my prize t-shirts). I still have the RSS feed going to my keyboard screen, and I'm noticing a lot more sensationalist titles that have little to do with the actual article. They're kind of turning into a tabloid now. I don't even mind that their old practice was just to link to other peoples news; it was nice to have a site that took no shame in being the aggregator and doing a pretty good job of it. The more they develop that 'srs-journalist' attitude the easier it is to take the piss out of them for being incompetent. Remember the whole scribblenauts racism bullshit? Congrats on being the first team to scour ten thousand words to inevitably find a subtly racist implication accidentally associated to one of them.

WAT? The game I played was all about freerunning parkour. If I stopped for that long I generally restarted the level because I was unsatisfied with my performance. Though I think you're mostly right that people misunderstood the game; but I think most people took it for a more classic style FPS with freerunning than for the racing game that was at its core. I always heard people complain that the game was only 6 hours, which I find totally invalid because if you played it for 20-30 hours you would be able to finish it in 2; and that's more the point of the game rather than just "get from start to finish". The other complaint I heard was that the shooting sucked; but after the tutorial there really isn't much need to use guns at all. I feel like those are two of the kinds of complaints normally thrown at FPS games that ME got a bad rep for; and I find it's entirely undeserved.

At the very least I'm sure it has the kind of cult following that will give it a delayed release; like Beyond Good and Evil is getting now (I can only imagine how sweet it might look on the next round of consoles). I hope we don't have to wait that long though. It's not like it needs to be completely rewritten or anything; the graphics still hold up today and I think most people would be satisfied with a few tweaks to the gameplay. I can't say I have a lot of faith that BF3 will fare any better than ME2 would have. EA is trying too damn hard to take CoD off it's throne and I really think they'd be better off just going in a new direction. I mean, Battlefield is a great series and a sequel is long overdue, but we could have said the same thing about Medal of Honour just a few months ago and that didn't live up to expectations either. Feels like they're just trying to brute force their way into first place. I think a Battlefield release would have felt much more refreshing if there weren't 50 other similar games competing against it; they should have held off on that one instead.

It's pretty good. The AI really makes me feel like I'm good at poker.

Did you really just quote my whole post to nitpick one poor word choice? I don't care if they do it or not it'd just be really cool.

I have a feeling Modern Combat games are largely the reason I haven't been gaming much at all these past few months. I wish I could go back to 2008 when everything that came out was interesting. Mirror's Edge, Fallout 3, GTA4, Left 4 Dead; Probably played more games than ever that year and they were all so different from each other that I never got bored. It's hard to get excited about new releases these days since the only ones anybody talks about is CoD, Battlefield, Crysis, MoH, Brink, Ghost Recon. I see people arguing about how BF is so much more team-oriented than CoD and other such nonsense but they're still pretty much the same. If it has a soldier and a gun, I'm bored now. Actually I still kind of dig Crysis but I can't take more than 1 of such games at a time these days. Anyway, Mirrors Edge 2 for the love of god. Or at the very least they owe us a DLC episode. I wouldn't mind simply getting some new levels; it's not like any other game does what Mirror's Edge does so there isn't too much that I'm looking for them to really improve on.

In single player, console versions auto-target when you aim down sights. Doesn't matter if the target is halfway on the other side of your screen. They made that wicked easy in single player; LT,RT,LT,RT,LT,RT,LT,RT, WIN.
