  1. It's only given two extensions. And I'd say this one is pretty final. Main reason it's "generous" is they either gave a short extension that'd fuck with the upcoming elections, or a mid-length which'd run up against both the elections and the summer break (it's been suggested that the summer break should be shortened this year). This way it means that there won't be repeated back n forth wasting time on extensions Hopefully the time makes it much better on selling idea of either a referendum or a GE. Or both.
  2. I picked up Uncharted 1, 2, 3, 4 in the Amazon spring sale. 1, 2, 3 came yesterday. Gotta wait on neighbour and I'll get Uncharted 4. Figure I'll go through them in the Easter break and I can dedicate full time on them. Just gotta decide on between either going in order or jumping right into 4.
  3. Looks interesting, and I'd imagine many of us have spent many an hour in fictional Chernobyl over the years so likely some interest there. And Sean Harris always a great pick. It's sort of such an open secret on how much of a horrific disaster this was, and still remains to be. I remember my gran hosting some girls from Chernobyl when I was younger, though just thinking of it more as a 'foreign exchange' trip than being aware of the events that caused them to briefly be part of our lives. It's something I have a somewhat morbid fascination of. Recent article if you're interested https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-47227767
  4. This looks like it could be okay. Seems to be pretty devoid of being "super hero" at all. No doubt be a lot of confusion from folks given this is the first of their "totally standalone we've given up on a DCCU" films and folks being "but how does this tie with Jared Leto".
  5. This is pretty cool. RE the above on automation and unemployment. No idea on the US but the UK is officially lowest unemployment ever but the measurements are massaged a lot by basically having zero hour contracts and working just 1hr a week counting as "employment". There's definitely a notable drop in places like fast food and supermarket "front of office" staff with things like the screens for ordering and self-serve checkouts. And I imagine it won't be too long before there's bots in warehousing and then stacking up shelves. But yes it's sort of one of those things where the discussion is likely less on the "robots taking over" and more the larger discussion around the need to derive purpose from labour produced.
  6. Short, but neat, video from Nimoy on the difference between aspect ratios on film and (older) TVs. Timely with the recent debacle around the Buffy HD remaster and having the reverse issue of a show made for 4:3 getting released at 16:9 (sometimes showing cast in shot ? )
  7. Got me some of that sweet sweet government response. From the Department of Exiting the EU to boot. Worth noting that "this government" very recently had a bunch of power yanked off them for a failure to deliver a deal so.... (which I guess gives this department a bit of free time to spend replying). It's just bollocks, the whole "weaken democracy" (by honouring a illegal result) and 17.4million stuff (ignoring the 17.2million stuff) is all just rubbish brexiteer soundbite wank. A considerable, a record breaking level of considerable, MPs voted against the deal put forth by government so...
  8. S-E have really being getting into the FFIX release on Switch/Xbox. I have no complaints.
  9. Ah man, just love John Wick and how self aware it is.
  10. And people say capitalism can't produce video games.
  11. Well it's a wee bit out dated buy someone did write a guide with some tips for getting into the game (and going without the ASCII graphics) a long while back... http://pressxordie.com/2011/08/01/how-to-get-into-dwarf-fortress/
  12. Video seems to give a fairly succint view of the current 'deals' put on the table without going into the nitty gritty of the constant string of stupid choices. As for Troubles 2.0 it's not exactly 100% hunky dory. The other day IRA claimed 5 letterbomb attacks and that's 2019. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-47538402 No fucking idea what the next few weeks will see. Government is pretty much fucked, both in terms of options and just as a concept in general.
  13. Far Cry New Dawn on sale on Ubisoft for not much more than through key sites (in fact maybe less). 50% off in the Spring Sale + 20% off with their Ubi Coins thing (I really do like them. I know folks shit on uPlay but the achievements giving currency to buy DLC with, and get actual tangiable cash discounts too, is quite nice). Set it away downloading last night so hopefully get in a bit of play after work. Should scratch the "shoot shit in a not too stressful environment" itch. Which tbh Slime Rancher has been doing quite well so far.
  14. Captain Marvel It's in a weird spot of comparisons with other MCU films which means it has touches of Thor, touches of Winter Soldier, touches of GoTG (not helped on most fronts by shared cast for some of the priors). Not a huge stand out, a firmly middling MCU title. Brie Larson was fab though, and firmly cemented into the MCU and be interesting to see how she plays out in Endgame and Phase 4. It sort of does a lot of lore expansion (what with being set 20 years prior), but not in a retcon way though at times in kind of Solo sort of way of "did we need to know why that's how it is". The CGI work for the de-aging on Sam Jackson is fab. And Goose the Cat was a great cast member. Probably one of my fave Stan Lee cameos too (also the modified Marvel logo was a nice touch).
  15. Borrowed Monster Hunter World off a friend. Kinda good, certainly pretty looking but not quite my cup of tea. Way too many menus and awkward controls (which I'd figured they'd have dropped from the PSP days, what with twin sticks and a touch pad). A biggy for me would be the lack of lock-on (apart from camera), if there's a way it's not clear. And can make it a total PITA when groups of enemies are about. Also 'fun' to be hunting a low level beasty and a t-rex thing crops up and kills you. Onwards to... I think slim rancher for a bit (since it's free n all). Not quite sure atm, in that 'funk' of finding games to stick to.
  16. Also a thing you can do: https://www.cpokemon.com/seccion/herramientas/tipos/en/
  17. Yeah, from the trailers I'd kinda been expecting a gritty female led heist movie (compared to the more 'comedic' tone of Oceans 8). I never really got why Daniel Kaluuya carried on showing up spying on them too. Like I sorta got it, but not from a 'adding anything to the story' type way. Also still have nightmares of Viloa Davis and Liam Neeson eating each others face off at the opening.
  18. Look at you with your bad opinions. (also was this recently on TV cos my mum also mentioned this weekend she'd seen John Wick n didn't like it).

    Help!

It'll just be a caching thing. Does seem to be fine now.
  20. Widows It's a bit slow and plodding. Was pretty much my main take from it. I did go n make tea half way through (which was very nice, so "last good meal I ate" is an aldi stir fry mix), so that part might have had all the excitement in it but I kinda doubt it. It could easily have been much shorter film, and the actual heist was over in seconds compared to the rest of the film.
  21. Foldable screens have been a bit of a elusive goal for a while now, and already with some minor Chinese phone makers launching earlier this year, now Samsung n Huawai expected next week it'll be interesting to see if it's been a worthwhile goal to chase. It's sure a feat of engineering and all that, especially making sure it doesn't wear away quickly, but I'm not super sure on the full application. The multi-pane thing is something tablets have done for an age so not exactly a Fold exclusive thing. I guess only major time I'd want a big screen is when I'm sharing photos with grandparents but honestly it's easy enough to just open the images on standalone tablet.
  22. I wonder if there's anything historically the English might have done that would have led to a lot of Americans having some form of Irish heritage or influence.
  23. The Live Aid thing isn't just in the home version, it was the excruciating final 20 minutes of the cinema release as well. Sure it's a neat way to show recreating that kind of thing (mostly) digitally but yeah it's a bit silly to do the full run rather than a couple snippets or what not. (which to be fair a lot of people have said likely contributes to a lot of the film since both want to make sure their characters shine in the best light and also maybe want to give a bit of rose tint to Freddie's story and life). And yes it getting any nominations, let alone wins, is total bollocks.
