  1. I finished it the other week. It's good as usual, though this one i felt didn't bring as much new to the table and mainly hammered home some of the previous series issues. The "Forgiveys" was a hell of a thing though. I try n get folks at work to watch it, but even several series in it's still seen by some as "show with the horse and cat people". Like it's only a step up from kiddy type shows. Hmm. Not super sure on this one. The comic book series was an interesting-ish concept that kind of devolved into just over the top sex and violence. We've got Deadpool films to take the piss out of superhero tropes and we've got Preacher as a pretty great Ennis adaptation.
  2. So we know BS 1636 is one of the best plug types in the world given its many safety features. Turns out you can get some really 'fun' times when combining that with less safe plug types.

    Hardware Porn

This is a pretty sexy laptop. There's all that gamer crud, so nice to have a laptop that looks like it's actually for work.
  4. Finished the game this evening. It's pretty underwhelming. The swinging is pretty great, and some of the story is neat but there's so much that's kind of "old fashioned". Which given the game was first shown off 2 years ago I'd imagine they had decent chunk locked down (that first teaser did have a lot of stuff that's in the final game). You've got the combat lifted fairly heavily from the Batman games, which makes sense to do given it's one of the most praised comic book games, and stuff like the counter system makes much more thematic sense with "spidey-sense". Got the Ubisoft towers for whatever damned reason (I literally can't think of why they're needed). Got the backpack collectables. Got the drug-induced battles stuff, Got unnecessary stealth sections that drop any of the games main mechanics (though I guess do have a nice way of putting in some story elements). It felt very heavily as the game story developed that it was more lining up a sequel than focusing much on the game at hand. As for the game at hand Like I've finished the game so obviously I didn't find it painful to play, I just found that for the most part it was rather uninspiring and old-hat. Nearly all boss fights are the same thing of "dodge until triangle comes up, then zip in, do a few punches, then repeat until three mini-cutscenes of Spider-man bitching at them has passed"). I was immediately a bit worried early on when of the first three boss fights two of them were Shocker and I was 25% of the game complete. The side quests are, research stations aside, mind boggling lazy. I joked/bitched about as much on Twitter other day. You start the game with the Fisk & Demon Bases, and the Thug & Demon Crimes. Then you get to the half way point, after defeating those side quests, and you get the same side quests with but with Prisoners and Sable. And not really with new enemies, apart from some Sable guys flying about, all groups of enemies have the same standard shooting guy, shield guy, baton/sword guy, tough guy, sniper guy and occasionally laser whip guy (however that's explained). given they've got these 3/4 groups (thugs/ryker prisoners I'd say are same) maybe would have been more interesting to have more unique combat styles. Means if you're responding to a crime or infiltrating a base it's exactly the same. You've got all these fantastical gadgets and suits to collect (and I'm not pulling out my teeth to get all the unlocks for all of them) and yet there's not really a reason to change tactics because you're against Demons or Thugs. Also the game has some really stupid NPC AI. Like faction in-fighting has been a thing in games for ages so it's not really asking for some huge leaps, but Sable (pre-half-way point) will happily patrol right through a battle I'm having as a shop gets robbed and don't step in at all. They're just totally dumb skinned civilians. Was rather disappointing. It's a licensed/comic book game that's not terrible but plenty over the last few years haven't been so it's not really a bar that needs clearing. The Lego Marvel stuff has been fab, Arkham series is highly praised. I've not played em but I hear Injustice is pretty decent too. I'd hold way back on the GOTY praise. "It's not shit" isn't "It's GOTY". There's far better open-world action games out there. I've remarked as such with friends that if anything it makes me itching to get back into Horizon which apart from a compelling story has enemy types that require switching out to different gear n tactics. And having the almost exact same KO sound effect as Arkham makes the comparisons so much more easier to make between the two. No doubt a second game will be on the way, especially given it's one of the best selling PS4 games to date, and given they nailed most of the swinging and animation stuff and they've got New York all built I'd imagine a quicker turnaround, but I really hope they drop a lot of the heavily dated mechanics & tropes and maybe explore a more creative henchman/thug roster rather than different skins.
  5. Looks pretty 'cool' and 'stylish' but not super sure otherwise. But hey, got more Clone Wars coming so that's fine. Does feel like it's maybe trying to make up for some missing plot points/character development from Force Awakens.
  6. It's one mightily large "drop" (and one that apart from Antman and Wasp has usually been the premiere market). There's a trillion variety of options and many that the comics themselves present to not have to repeat a name and deal with the branding headache it causes. At least when something like Doom n Prey re-use names they're not literally sequels of each other. People seem to be leaning on it being "Endgame" though I'm fairly sure Rooker let slip on the name ages ago (though likely an "older" name now). No doubt they'll announce shortly. (though jesus what a cock-up on scheduling for Marvel to release Captain Marvel trailer n like 24hrs later have focus jumped right back to Avengers 4)
  7. Yeah, for UK it was Avengers Assemble so it'd be highly unlikely they'd go for that name for the fourth Avengers film. It's not "The Avengers" because of these two: Or for the yanks these two:
  8. Sure. Seems like it'll capture the "whimsy" a bit better than grown-up Winnie the Pooh had. (though it does have the "dead mum" thing going on). Getting Dick Van Dyke back (though in a different role) I wonder if they'll have Julie Andrews in (though she's seems to be mainly voice roles the past decade or so).
  9. This his Netflix the other day. Has some of the folks involved from TLA/TLoK which immediately gives it some strong appeal. The animation style throws me a bit, looks kinda like Ni No Kuni a bit. I'm curious if it'll have some of the strong world building and characters of TLA/TloK and maybe might be a worth Eragon adaptation.
  10. This looks kinda neat. Sort of Combine-esque.
  11. Yay! or "Neigh" I guess. In other news just wrapped up the recent series of Preacher. Dang it keeps getting better. It did feel that it stretched out a bit at times to focus on Angelville but damn I don't care cos some of the direction n cinematography was pretty damn fine. It's getting much more confident in itself and its strangeness.
  12. It's sounding really good but I'm not sure if it's £50 and need to get it at launch levels of good (especially when I'm home stretch for Persona 5 n away all this weekend anyway so not like I'd be able to play it)
  13. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PCBTZh41Ris Obviously not perfect at all, but given what we've got with the likes of deepfakes n such too it'll not be too long until end up with videos of people doing things they didn't do. Yay!!
  14. You should check out the animated stuff, they've generally been quite worthwhile watching. The upcoming Joaquin Phoenix Joker film is getting kinda weird. Gained Alec Baldwin as Thomas Wayne which implies in some way following something like the old Batman film that had Joker kill the Waynes. Though at the very least having the...thirty fourth on-screen death of the Waynes. Just in case you didn't know how Batman came about.
  15. I've been playing this lately. Really bummed I had taken this long to get into it. I'd bounced of P3 kinda hard with its auto-generated dungeons n kind of obtuse gameplay. This still has the auto generated dungeons but it's just in the semi-optional Mementos and the actual main dungeons are all purpose designed. As for being obtuse it's almost the opposite. There's still a bit of "you have to read between the lines to figure certain tasks" but otherwise it's pretty hand holdily (though "you're tired go to sleep" is more hand-holdy than I'd like and it bums me that apparently I'm too tired to even watch a film or go shopping. And it's stylish as fuck, but that's not really telling anyone anything new. So yeah quite enjoying it, though there's a bit of an itch at the back of my mind on "waiting for it to open up" though not sure in what way, and feeling at times that I'm missing out on bits of the game (like for example working in a bar took a while to open up for me). Oh the fusion is quite annoying in having to get personas out of storage, then go back to the fusion then fuse, and if there's nothing new it'll fuse with then it's a case of turning them into an item (or now I have it using the network fuse). I could 'cheat' but it's actually quite painful to use fusion calculators, even for some of the specific stuff like for the twins.
  16. How they made some of the pretty in Infinity War.
  17. I'm really really tempted by this. I've a big hard on for translucent electronics too. The 2TB drive and 4K is a nice lovely bonus (though not yet on a 4K TV it's only a matter of time).
  18. At first I thought "butty" would be obvious, but then I remember you guys don't really have butter on your sandwiches.
  19. "Mr Drax, get me Moose & Sqwirrel....and Bond" And for the documentary types:
  20. Figured this might tickle peoples fancy. (and yes they're "space ships" but at he notes there's plenty of times they're shown in atmosphere dog fights n such)
  21. So I guess I've beaten Pokemon Quest. turns out it has an actual end n shit (though with the usual caveat of "you can still go back n do stuff". In this case get all 150/151 pokemon)
  22. Not keen on having a super-small galaxy. Bad enough that it ended with Enterprise showing up near the end of the last series but now the biggy this series is around Spock. Otherwsie I'm all down for some more Disco Very.
  23. Eleven is at it again. This'll probably be one of the better non-MCU shared universes. I liked the joke made last week when that first still came out: "The beacons are lit! Godzilla calls for aid!" "And Rodan will answer!" Oh and here's the film with that wife beater Disney still employ and that Rowling is seemingly powerless to remove.... Oh shit yeah there's the Glass trailer too. I still haven't seen Split but heard it's decent:
