Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse Basically just gonna repeat others that it's fab and well worth a watch this xmas. And even if you don't much care for spider-man mythos (though it helps) the animation style is just amazing. Like oh god its great. The style really embraces the various Spider-men ("Is he in black and white...and how is his coat rustling, there's no wind?"), and doesn't seem weird for it. The weird focus effect they have going on and the strong comic book stylings are great, even if like a 3D movie it takes a couple minutes to get used to. And yeah, that Stan Lee cameo could not have been better placed in the film for the feels ?

I'm not 100% sure this is from purely just trailers since it features "the snap" which I don't think was in trailers. This year actually hasn't been half bad for films. And regards the above I think you're correct. I studied digital special effects but absolutely love the ingenuity of some practical "in-camera" special effects.

@TheFlyingGerbilI've had a help-to-buy ISA set up since January this year, so got a fair nest egg built up so far. I also got some help from grandparents as a semi-distant relative passed last year so I'm at about 15% deposit now but been recommended to go with traditional 10% and use the excess for covering fees, repairs, surprises etc. I had been put in contact with a mortgage adviser through a work client and he's been helpful though had to postpone things a bit cos of like lacking passport and it being xmas n all the bother that comes with that. I'm kinda just letting him pick out mortgage choice cos I find there's way too many choices n minor variances that all seem the same (I now know what it's like when recommended PC parts n such to family members). Hopefully I'll have a new place come February/early March if all goes to plan.

I have spent quite a bit the past month or so. After using my work laptop for personal stuff a bit figured that maybe I do need a laptop, my main 'battlestation' is fine n all but want something a bit more portable. So got this in the sales: Acer Nitro 5 It's not gonna blow any games away given it's a budget gaming laptop, but it's not much more than a regular person laptop for the ability to play a few games on the go. I'd eyed up the Dell G3 or the HP...something or other too. Kinda preferred the less gamery look of the Dell but at £70 more for the same guts I wasn't that preferred I also got this the other day in a weird flash sale thing: Tic Watch E It's a low end smart watch but all the guts of a high end one, mainly being cheap on the feel really. Oh and doesn't work for swimming which tbh isn't a huge issue for me Still runs full Wear OS n shiz. Mainly gotten issue with a fitbit that's a bit spare now And more importantly gotten a sparkly new passport so I can have some valid photo id for getting a mortgage. shame it's likely useless in 3 months The process is so vastly changed these days too, i remember looking at updating my passport when I was 18 and there was loads of forms n stuff. Now I could get a coded photo from photobooth that means I still have the 4 original photos, and could do it all online mainly just telling them my old passport number.

Man that "but it was $35". I've seen FO76 for £14 ? I recently bought Virtual Rickality. A mate had a PSVR party (also set up my PS4 with his account n he gets sooo many games digitally) and it was on sale so got that as an addition. Might get AstroBot for xmas. Not been gaming as much lately though.

Lego Hobbit on Humble Bundle at the moment too.

Podracing was one of the cooler parts of the prequels. Shame there's no podracing VR game.

I did Spider-Man a while ago. Currently with a mate who is more into it than me and trying to platinum it, which I hear is relatively simple but not much care. A recent completion was Hidden Agenda. Played it about three times the past week, it's become a bit of a favourite especially with rotating groups n stuff. Noticed it's now about £5, which is pretty damn great price especially something worth picking up for festive time with family over (assuming they have a phone and I hear Blizzard have it on good authority that they do :P). I was slightly expecting it to be horror based given it's sort of a spiritual follow on from Until Dawn but it's a straight up police thriller. And it's a lot more varied in playthroughs than I'd have expected too (though as best I can tell the "who the killer is" doesn't change..just if you're able to work it out or not and how you do it). So yeah, totally recommend it for a bit of festive gaming with larger groups of grown ups.

8th Annual PXOD Secret Santa! -- Targets Assigned

Bohemian Rhapsody Somehow managed to take a film about Freddie Mercury and Queen and make it kinda dull. It kinda feels like they took a Wikipedia article as the script (and part of the script is just "insert Live Aid here"). The main thing keeping it going is the music is obviously pretty good, and the acting is pretty good too (despite what they have to work with). The Brian May guy was pretty good (though I'm to understand Brian May was directly involved with the film). I'm interested to see how Rocketman fares and if that might have been the better option of "A True Fantasy" to tackle Queen.

I'll be honest not a clue. I know on desktop when posting embedded media you do get the "Remove Preview" thing.

This is pretty fascinating. And I'd imagine a lot of the info in here is "out of date" (though I guess some of the things would work just as well these days as in the past).

Bad Times at the El Royale Still kinda thinking about this, so yeah must be pretty good. It's kinda Pulp Fiction-ey in various people of various nefarious deeds meeting and interacting in interesting ways. Some great performances, brilliant singing, really like a lot of the characters and some really grow onto you (even when they're arseholes). Sounds like it's a bit of a poor box office performer which is a shame. Strongly recommend checking it out if you can.

Less terminator here.

What's with all the people being removed from voting lists. I carry on seeing tweets that pretty much suggest checking yourself weekly to see if you're still registered to vote. It's a bit barmy. Over here about only time you need to re-register to vote is if you move address or change name or what not. Otherwise you're on for life.

I've been watching My Hero Academia, currently at the start of S2. Still not entirely sure what to make of it. I'm guessing S1, being nearly half the episode count of S2, was sort of a "tester" run as it did seem to take a while to get to 'interesting' things. The powers, aside from Izukus/All-Might, are quite creative. It is a shame his power is sort of the usual superman powerset compared to like engine legs and earphone jack ears n what not. A friend is recommending I check out "Overlord". Anyone else heard of it before, any thoughts?

Teen Titans Go! To The Movies Pretty fun movie that in the same way Deadpool takes the piss out of other superhero movies in a adult-friendly kind of way this does it in a kid-friendly kind of way. Well apart from It's funny, silly (childish levels at times but...well it's a kids film), has a decent sound track (including bits from BttF, Aha, some EDM, the original Teen Titans track, etc). If you've got kids, young relatives etc then it's a fine watch for all. It does throw you a bit that Slade (Slaaaddddeee) is Will Arnett n thus Bojack n Batman n all that kinda pops into your head.

You'll probably get a kick out of other videos on his channel. I'll be honest I tend to phase out once he delves into topics beyond my school level electronics but the bangs and sparks are always fun.

Venom This was much better than expected. It has plenty of clunk to it, it weirdly has a lot of things taking mere seconds to resolve in the final third, but it was pretty enjoyable. The trailer cut a lot of the dialogue quite weirdly to how it is in the film and it works much better in the film with the relationship between Eddie and Venom. It's pretty funny at points. My mum spent most of the night quoting "pussy" in a gruff voice. There is a bit at the start where I'm trying to take one of the scientists a tad more seriously because my mind is playing "money please". (why the fuck they named the female scientist "doctor skirt" in 2018 I'll never know) Also they start out with a black, blue and yellow symbiote and the final fight is between the black symbiote and a dark grey one. Which has a kind of neat part of the fight where the symbiotes are fighting/fusing n the hosts inside are fighting too that's all just a bit splodgy mess because the symbiotes are practically the same in the dark. I understand why they didn't have a red symbiote (cos of Carnage n all that) but there's plenty more colours that could have lead to a much clearer fight. So yeah, it pales in comparison to the likes of the MCU fare, but easily surpasses much of the DCCU stuff. This month has a wealth of cracking looking films though, so maybe hold off a bit if looking to save your movie money.
