  2. Yeah I didn't want to make it sound like it was something being actively done by the church of a whole (hence "a bunch of mormons"). Seems an odd thing to do, and understandably highly controversial. My understanding of baptism is it does tend to require the a-okay of the person(or their parent's since most are done young), so being dead that probably makes it really damn hard.
  3. There we go. I'm green. I wouldn't say you're dependent on a gov't for it's services (Well apart for things like emergency services n roads, but they'd be pretty hard to do on a personal/private level). If you don't wish to use the NHS over here for example, those with funds can go with BUPA. Don't like the gov'ts JSA, get a job. Don't like state school, Go to a private school. There's plenty options available. Don't like any governmental stuff in your life at all? go to Somalia.
  4. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/02/21/mormons-posthumous-baptism-anne-frank_n_1292102.html?ref=tw A bunch of Mormons have post-humously converted Anne Frank. For the 9th time. Any body able to explain why anyone would want to do this?
  5. Welsh rabbit, turtle soup, Mr Brains Pork Faggots, devils on horse back, spotted dick, etc. We don't always choose awesome or properly descriptive names. As for the show: The Supersizers eat [time period], maybe?
  6. They're potentially changeable, but I'm not overly good at the whole web-coding side of things (I'm learning and improving over time: see PXOD new Reviews box thing). It's why the forum looks like this, whereas on the same software the Minecraft forum looks like: http://www.minecraftforum.net/ It is the negative and positive feedback stuff leading to issues. Especially when people would give a post a negative reputation without joining in the discussion, it'd lead to people going on personal witch hunts, normally aiming their anger at those they're in discussion with thinking that they're the ones giving negative rep when many times that's not the case. (now you can all see the names alongside Likes you'll be able to easier see one side of this). So it leads to people getting their hackles needlessly raised and a bunch of negativism. Maybe it's just confirmation bias, but I would say that there's less antagonism flowing about in some of the more contentious threads.
  7. So it's a tad like socialism = communism thing. See we have a Liberal Democrat + Conservative coalition gov't atm. And one thing Cameron, Tory leader, is pushing is family unit n all that. A conservative ideal as you've suggested. But he's also (currently) pro-gay rights as he sees them as strengthening the family unit. “So I don't support gay marriage despite being a Conservative. I support gay marriage because I'm a Conservative.” @Battra: Aren't most political leaning charts a quadrant graph? i.e I should maybe do one of these actually, anyone got any good questionnaire sites? I didn't know about the funding issue with schools though, would explain a bit. Bit of a sucky system. Also surely conservatives are pretty pro-government control too? Can't really tell people what they're allowed or not allowed to do in the name of maintaining old fashioned values without government backing. It's the same for either side surely.
  8. Looks like a Yorkshire Pudding, just with different directions in the making. A yorkshire pudding is much the same recipe as pancake, but it's baked, much like the german pancake you linked, and it's heavily whisked to put air into the mix to make it rise. Normally small round cupcake (muffin) tins are used though. You tend to only use a lasagna dish like above if you're making toad in the hole
  9. In North America they're usually maybe a centimeter? There are certainly thicker though. I know what american pancakes are like, more akin to Scotch Pancakes/Drop scones. Ethan was talking about crepes though, which are thin. Our pancakes are like crepes, but a tad thicker (though still thinner than scotch/american pancakes). See Johnnys picture for example.
  10. I'm competing with a goddamn alien! With a cool scar! What chance do I have?!! :P

  11. Trailer for Borderlands 2 launch wub date. Please, someone tell someone at Gearbox how to do comedy. p.s That's no moon.
  12. It's a section from a TV drama, not an advert Yes scripts use cheap tricks, they're fitting a lot of content into a concise format, not present a full essay. For example here we see the power of three's used to sell the idea that "Fez's are cool": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bvWYw0CnuSI See I don't watch much TV mainly because I prefer games and cos it's a bit of a hassle tbh, but damn it'd drive me insane if I was looking for a message in everything I watched and trying to decide if I'm for this idea, or if it's liberal ideas instead. Actually back to that: What exactly is wrong with being liberal? You seem pretty against the idea, and there's a few in the US that are sickly against the idea, but I'd have thought "land of the free" n all that jazz that many folks would be pretty pro-liberal.
  13. Shitty logic that slides about from point to point? That Santorum mosaic is straight porn btw, and Duke thankfully chose a much smaller and thus less NSFW version of the image. (edit: Turns out it was re-made from the original. Anyway for those wanting bigger of both, check New Vegas) See my grandads a joiner, I'd never really make any claim that's passed on down through to me. I've never quite understood the sort of "Oh well I'm part Irish" kinda thing Americans have, where in fact they're american but their great-great-grandad was an Irish immigrant. I so agree he's stupid to dismiss climate change as a political thing. Which is always a bother, you go for the stuff that's politicly advantageous if you think like that. That's because Obama doesn't have a history of homophobic statements. I actually knew the word "santorum" a couple years before I even knew the man now running for president. At first I heard his name on the news and thought "oh how unfortunate that his surname is the same as 'santorum'. Wonder if he knows". Then I found out about where the word came from. That's kinda how much his legacy in those matters stretch. Just to get everyone up to speed here is the statement that brought Santorums name to infamy: http://www.usatoday....m-excerpt_x.htm http://en.wikipedia....g_homosexuality Then on the other end of the spectrum: http://www.buzzfeed....he-gay-communit (Though one would probably note that while this is certainly clear and above Santorums LGBT viewpoints, it's still theoretically baby-steps to the main aim) The issue folks take with Santorum is that not only is he against same-sex marriage, but also against same-sex sex. Even going as so far as to compare it to paedophilia and bestiality. Which is where he's a bit silly because nearly all these arguments against same-sex stuff end up on that slippery slope. The main difference between same-sex marriage/intimacy, is that two guys can be consenting. They can say "I do". A child or a dog, cannot. So allowing gays to have sex or get married isn't suddenly going to lead on to "man on child, man on dog, or whatever the case may be." It's just stupid. BTW Yante did you read that brainwashing article or watch the clip. You keep mentioning it's trying to put you in an emotional state, but I'm feeling nothing from it, but then it did click; maybe you're feeling anger at it? (Whcih kinda links back to a previous video in another thread). Ever thought you're looking for something that isn't there? I mean, brainwashing? really?
  14. I knew I meant to do something when I shifted over the system (There's a drop down box for which system, then a bunch of toggles for minor tweaks). Right, as of now "Likes =/= Reputation". Likes are sort of for posts only. Now it's technically still counting it all up in the background cos the system does need to keep track of these things, but other than that the user itself isn't getting Reputation points for Liked content, cos yeah that's a bit silly. So no scores for anyone, cos that's not what the Like system is meant to be. However I have still left on the "Liked Posts" (kinda neat that changed of its own since it's a plug-in) tab on your profile so if you want to see who has Liked which posts without having to manually check all your posts, then you can. Just if you want to count it all up together then you'll have to manually work it out.

    Help!

Refresh the page, it's the way your browser is caching stuff, so if you hit back it's showing you the page as it was when you first opened it. Though the auto-save thing doesn't always re-appear mind, but it's a useful feature for when it does.
  16. By my count we have three. Ethan, GOH and Thursday.
  17. You may be making pancakes then. How thick, couple millimetre? Crepes are thin. Also crepes use different flour. Though for the most part crepes is just kinda like saying "I like eating pomme de terre" cos you eat granny smiths. If you scan about euro languages, most have something along lines of a "pancake/palacinka/pannkaka/etc" or "crepe/krepa/etc". There's a chance that to avoid confusion between what you guys have as "pancakes", and what we have as "pancakes", you guys are using the French word instead to avoid confusion.
  18. And yante we're making plenty examples to understand why you believe what you do. Such I myself inquiring upon your foundations in science education with relation to your grasp of the theory of evolution. We're also curious on how you can on one hand claim to be a biblical literalist, yet frequently dismiss and reject many of the dodgier things the bible literally tells you to do. I'm coming from an angle of someone whose religious education never actually left room for "people that might think this is real/fact"(in relation to all religions/mythologies), so I'm coming in on this angle. You are a new experience to me and I do wish to understand where you came from, what is the foundation to your beliefs, philosophies, morality system etc. Just you provide a very scattered image, not helped with the copious about of verbatim copy pasting from bible sites which really don't help in me understanding where you come from on these matters.
  19. Does seem a bit balls. Should be "One ring to rule them all". I guess it's a bit of feedback. You vote into powers those that align with your religion, with this power they allow various exceptions to the laws to your religion. Works out well for all. Except of course those in the "wrong" religion, or with no religion at all. Just seems pretty stupid. We have the same stuff on not having it count as discrimination for churches not to employ certain folks mind (and I'm sure the law extends beyond the church, should the job require either male or females). The contraception thing is pretty cut n dry on if it's hindering or not (not). They're neither forcing the BC upon the Catholics themselves, nor stepping in their way on letting them preach their beliefs to those the contraceptives are supplied to. Which stuff like that extends beyond religion. Such as advising that your client plead guilty, but they can still plead not guilty if they want. Also as long as we're all clarified that the uni naming isn't French then
  20. I know you're talking the one in Indiana. It's the only uni in US with the name "Notre Dame", but that's it "notre" not "noter". Also you're the one that said it's French But yeah it's not-re. not no-tur.
  21. So how would they go about figuring if my beliefs are real? Also if proven to be "real", would that honestly mean I'm now tax free? As for the pronunciation, we're talking the French University of Noter Dame right?
  22. What do Bioware have against London? I think a lot of the difficulty with sort of getting hype for ME3, at least personally, and as I've now identified with the trailer, is the disconnect in scale. In ME1 you fight Saren for pretty much most of it, with Sovereign popping up at the end, but fairly simple to deal with. In ME2 it's the collectors, a big ship, but the collectors themselves just infantry stuff. But with ME3 you're up against fleets of Reapers, space ships. You're but a man with a small squad of people. It's hard to wrap your head around dealing with that in the same way as ME1 and ME2. I guess we can just see how they do it in-game, but trailer/demo wise it's hard to get around it.
  23. The video makes a good point on the seemingly pick 'n' mix approach many Christians take. Pick the prejudices of the bible they like, then leave behind the icky ones like stoning n such that aren't as socially acceptable these days. Which does highlight that eventually most of the bibles prejudices will become obsolete overtime and those that hold strong to their prejudices that align with the bible will over time also become shunned (As is rightly already happening in current society). Everything that goes against your view point isn't instantly "Liberal" you know. Also maybe go beyond that at some point instead of using "It's liberal" as some get out of jail free card. and actually provide meaningful discussion and debate? edit: I guess what Dex is saying. Though I've said similar before. You can't be a biblical literalist, then not take some of the bible literally.
