Mainly cos it's a PC that was made by a guy that works at Valve. He made it 6 months ago, and I've a feeling the folks at Valve are the kind to make their own PCs, so I've a feeling it's pretty coincidental. If not...mobile Nvidia. Tasty.

Final Fantasy XIII-2. It solved much of the complaints of XIII, though it maybe introduces a few of its own. The game is very lore heavy, and it seems they want to built up this universe some more, though with Versus and Agito did imply this I guess. It does however have a bit of a sucky story. The ending of the boss is a bit sucky especially. Also Lightening drops in about 90% near the end and fills you in on what's going on n such. So yeah, the spoiler could have done with a bit more of a spit polish. The time line stuff helped with the pacing I guess. It meant you could go "okay, I'm bored with this area for now, let's go hit the chocobo races up" or "let's go monster hunting" etc. So that was my main complaint of XIII gone. The Crytstarium got a revamp that I wasn't 100% keen on, hard to explain why without explaining how the Crystarium works. The battle system was much the same, which I enjoyed the battle system so that's fine it's the same. The ending is..something. Oh and ends with a "To be continued".

So my reaction at the end of reading that article was: I don't necessarily doubt that Valve might be coming up with such a ...device*. Just that throughout the entire article they never once mentioned that the "Steambox" is a...... . Intel Processor - check 8GB of RAM - check Nvidia GPU - check Runs Steam - check Runs Origin and others - check USB controllers - check** Outputs to TV - check Open platform with no license fees - check. Plays PC games - check. Then again the way many talk of PC gaming they probably don't realise that PCs come with HDMI ports (or that HDTVs tend to come with DVI/VGA), and that you can use a 360 pad (and many others with some tinkering) perfectly fine on a PC. *I do highly doubt it though. It's not an outright impossibility, but it is stupid. It'd make much more sense to have something like "Steam certified PC". Bit like the Windows Logo Program and the (planned and failed) GFW certification. Put a sticker on the side of the Dell and have it pre-installed with Steam n TF2 or something. As Verge quoted from the PAR article, there's much better companies suited to hardware design. Oh I completely disagree. At least on the subconscious level. It's my experience that the most influential person to you is yourself and your feelings and emotions and all kinds of inputs affect your rationality and thought process affecting what things you do or don't accept. I believe deep down that most people choose their religion based on what they want to do and then make their beliefs work around that. Isn't that normally the stance reserved for us cynics?

So since one of the guys in Steam Chat was all "Yay, get to kill the British!" it's probably worth pointing out that the dual Game Informer covers imply you get to be on either side of the war. (The game cover is even at such an angle that it'd hide any of the robe tweaks for one side or another). I've a feeling factions will be a new part of AC3 (Unless Revelations was similar beyond the "Templars vs Assassins" element. I've yet to play). It does make sense. The Subject 16 stuff makes a point of Templars generally just being folks in power, not with any particular nationality.

actually Dean 4k=/= 4000. It's an approximation. There are several resolutions that can be approximated to 4K and they vary by several million pixels. 1080p is what we were doing when 4:2:2 resolution was good enough which is what we've switched away from. 4K is quite similar to celluloid and that's where the switch started to get heavy i.e. when Red Ones could give a similar feel as to films shot on film. Not to mention it got rid of several post production processes including h...

There's the whole cinematic feel must be maintained at 24fps thing as opposed to the realistic feel of >60fps. James Cameron was thinking of doing 120fps. Well if it's of any interest I haven't had to wait at all and cos curiosity killed the cat I may know the ending. May I strongly suggest you don't click the following spoiler, but at least we can go back to it later n see if I was right. I AM FUCKING WARNING YOU. edit: I guess I should point out I was looking through the files for some definitive "I've got the game, but it's not the demo" kinda proof. I've got Bink player(was for some older stuff, borderlands I think) so made sense to use one of the videos. I purposefully avoided the ones titled "end" and like a few seconds into the clip I was like "oh...oh...oh god this is the ending" edit2: Double bagged the spoiler. Added the "bad" ending. Also looking at the file names it did have the word "end" in it, but I guess the rest of it made it seem less harmful. edit3: Added "video recreation of ME3 ending" (Since I daren't risk straight up uploading the actual files)

Is that an indication that I'm off topic? Not that you're off topic, just that your choice of language is hugely inappropriate. Kinda worse in that you've not even noticed. Whether or not we feel the addition of same sex relationships in Mass Effect 3 is a good or bad thing is in fact entirely on-topic, both for this thread or this one. Just maybe the word of choice could be "same sex" or "gay". "Fag" is strictly reserved for if Shepard becomes a cigarette while passing through England.

You're not on one of those laptops with a dual GPU are you? Also as long as your games still run the same you don't need to pay attention to those numbers. It was part of a failed/abandoned scheme of Microsofts back in the early GFW/Vista days.

Yeah I'll be honest, all but the Husk and the "Havester" look "Reaper-like" to me in what we've seen of Reaper designs. Especially the Ravager. Look a bit more like what'd happen if you took Chaos Space Marine and an overenthusiastic PC modder with zero taste. What would we say are the other races too?

Yeah I'm unsure if I covered this before: If the developer is able to identify "that one terrible part" of the game, why are folks suggesting that they add in the ability to skip over that instead of....fixing it. "So in our QA testing we found there's a part of the game that's really awkward to do. Takes at least 15 tries, and for most of our QA guys it's by fluke they complete it. How about we just leave it awkward and spend the dev time on making a 'skip point'!". Does this not strike anyone else as silly?

Introducing such exctiing features as custom avatars, cloud saving, and the ability to hide outdated beta/alpha games from your library. (And a couple minor UI tweaks) edit: The minor UI tweaks are so that the rows in the library are a bit thicker. I guess this is to make it seem a bit more full? I am still really effing confused on why expired beta/trials stay in your library, the "hide" is but a work around to something that seems like a fundamental flaw in how Origin is made. It's not a program breaking issue, at the moment, but just the fact they're unable to have things expire and leave your library would imply there's something missing in how it should be dealing with downloads.
