  1. I guess I shouldn't fully trust what's said online I did try looking for a date to verify.
  2. But that's ME2, ME3 might use Origin rather than Bioware's system. I know that's ME2, was giving example Either way would be retarded. It's either making Origin a forced thing with ME3 and not running anything through it. Or having ME and ME2 (as well as DA:O n DA2) have their DLC through Biowares site, then with ME3 making it require DLC purchasing through Origin.
  3. http://social.bioware.com/page/me2-dlc As I said, it all ran through Bioware and they have a points based system.
  4. http://gamingbolt.com/origin-is-required-for-all-pc-editions-of-mass-effect-3 Origin needed for all versions of Mass Effect 3, retail, digital, collectors, etc. (Is it worth pointing out my last 2 copies of ME are retail n therefore came with nothing) Thing is Origin still provides jack shit reason to make it a compulsory service to tie in. At least Steam has Steamworks, server browser, cloud saves, achievements etc. Origin has none of those, it's a downloader and store front. But I'm using a disc based game so what am I needing to download or buy? Bleurgh. (Not that Biowares store stuff was much better mind, at least Origin doesn't have a shitty MS points style system that Bioware adopted for DLC on PC)
  5. 1911 article on what 2011 will be like.
  6. No one else grabbed the demo? I didn't play all the way through, but the changes I saw I liked. The battle system is much the same, paradigm shifts n such so if you disliked the battle system of XIII stay away. The improvements are an addition of towns, with people you can actually talk to. There's also side missions too, bit more in depth (though not hugely so) than the ce'ith stones in Gran Pulse. You also capture and use fiends in battle, unsure if it's just to bulk up parties when there's only 2 (you control Noel n Sera) or if you can have a full party of 4. They're kinda handy to use, like I had a Medic(creatures are tied to particular roles) Cait Sith, while your main dudes deal the damage. You can level them up much the same way as weapons in the first. They've revamped the Crystarium, I don't completely understand it to explain it, but it's one branch and each node in the branch you choose which role to level up. Rather than the first game you had like 8 branches for the characters for each different role. Oh n QTEs, but they seem limited to boss fights only. The whole time thing and anomalies n paradoxes seems pretty cool, worth going for the story I think. If you weren't absolutely and utterly put off by XIII I'd say at the very least rent this. If you hated the battle system, it's the same so you won't like it at all. Everyone else can probably just skip I guess.
  7. Also beaten Arkham City. Only ~26% done though
  8. Just a tip concerning Ethans tweet on watching credits: At the cinema if the lights stay dim as the credits roll, stick around. If not then leave.

You guys didn't know about this? Back during the site's beginnings, tons of people were linking to it on Kotaku, and that was before the majority of us left there. It's great, only problem is that the "commercials" never change, thus lots deja vu.

  10. So first what I was going to post: To be fair to Totilo before writing for Kotaku he did used to work for MTV so you can see how he'd struggle with the concept of sticking to a sites focus. Funny you should say that. I'll point out "they're a business" is a terrible terrible excuse to bring up at any occasion. PXOD isn't a business (it'd open so many more doors if we were), but we too rely on clicks in order to offer a free service(a considerably free service), yet we're not spoiling games plots months in advance, posting about the death of Kim Jong Il, a dude dying near an arcade, factual errors about concords, and other parts of "gamer culture". If you're reaching the point where you're scarping the barrel in order to shit out articles then maybe either scale back how much you post (kotaku push out about 60 posts a day last I went) or pick other gaming topics. There's so much Kotaku miss in favour of posting about the latest person killed within ear shot of a Gamestop. If that's something you enjoy and want to read about then fill your boots. For most of us we jsut go to games sites for games stuff. We go elsewhere for other stuff (like proper science articles).
  11. Bah shit. It's cos I'd been on Rossignols too, but not a great example since he last posted a year ago (though what he has posted is rather in-depth)
  12. I'd imagine there's a rather large spectrum of things people are interested in, many of us here aren't just interested or entertained by games. That's why other websites exist. It was always the rather lame reasoning that got brought up back when I used to go to the site. If the writers want to post about other things I'm sure they have personal blogs. I know Fahey n Crecente do at the very least. Jim Rossignol is rather active on his personal non-RPS blog (even if he covers topics somewhat related to gaming). The gawker network is comprised of over half a dozen site with the express purpose of having one for games, gadgets, sports, cars, sci-fi/fantasy, porn, feminism, etc. Pretty much anything can be posted under the umberella of "this people will find interesting". But their umberalla is that of a gaming site. If they want to post random shit then drop the facade n just become "random site of whatever entertains me at the moment with a bit of a Japanese porn on the side". Go-bots isn't exactly video game entertainment btw.
  13. It's a bit silly a games site, well a site that's meant to be a game site, has to make a point of making a mode for just the gaming news Bit late in coming, but does seem that this is possibly a thing Totilos wanted a while but Crecente maybe not wanted out?
  14. http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2012/01/12/splendid-cd-projekt-to-stop-legal-threats/ There you go Johnny, you can buy Witcher 2 now, CD Projekt are stopping with the letters.
  15. Kerbal Space Program It goes up in price in a few days and it's not on it's final build for the demo. I've not played it since they added The Mun. I may make a video of sorts.
  16. So after todays minor misadventures it has been declared that when the zombie apocalypse comes I'm not going on food runs.

  17. http://www.wired.com...-a-human-right/ - The UN brought it up last year. http://news.cnet.com...10374831-2.html - Finland has made basic internet access a right (we're kinda working towards similar, in fact I'm sure this year was the deadline) http://www.guardian....t?newsfeed=true - and this is a recent (As in 1 hour ago) article that popped up in my search for those two examples. It's similar to MasterDex's above, but a bit more to it. I agree with Thursday (and Cerf). It's a useful tool, but it is not something that is needed to live a free and healthy life. It's a method of getting to other rights such as education, freedom of expressions and speech. Being able to watch Netflix is not the same as not being chained up to make addidas t-shirts. I think that in countries that are able to supply the infrastructure then something like what Finland has should be put in place on a country level so that everyone has free access to at least a basic form of internet. But I don't think the UN should be stepping in to make rights on it just yet. Maybe a right to an open and free internet (where available). Which would stop countries filtering internet and companies stripping access n such forth, without making the access itself a right. (and tbh what good is a right to internet access if it's only to some gimped connection that only goes to www.everythingisgreatinchina.cn?) @Kovach: The state ran papers, the state ran TV, the state ran stores. Internet is global, and therefore most of the time out of the hands of the state. Though once again, as Cerf says, it's not a right in itself but an enabler.
  18. http://www.addicting...es/50states.jsp Now to find one for UK Counties! (It's a shame the comment that came with this game came with the "Most states are as big as European countries." fallacy of why everyone else in the world should learn US states.)
  19. http://www.gamesradar.com/diablo-iii-definitely-coming-consoles-says-blizzard-rep/ Seee!!! This is why I don't bother moving threads until a full proper confirmation comes from Blizzard.
  20. We still take the piss out the fact our current PM suggested we "hug a hoodie". If he suggested evolution didn't exist, apart from having to take it up with the national mint, he'd be fucking laughed out of parliament, as in the force of the laughter would propel him out the window and into the Thames. (with all the other eels)
  21. It swings both ways, I've seen work on an LGBT version of the SOPA app for those companies that invest in anti-gay right campaigns, or discriminatory towards LGBT workers. Technology and its application is an extremely powerful political tool, as Obama showed in 2008 and arab spring showed last year. btw if anyone is interested Reddit is going dark on 18th to protest SOPA, other sites are likely to follow suit (other sites being Google, Facebook, etc)
  22. Never knew you cared.
  23. I assume this will be of interest to some of you.
  24. Yeah sorry. I knew it had a border n where it is n such. I guess It never crossed my mind that that's how my query could be interpreted
