  1. No, I'm arguing that.. Money is what supports a developer, any moron knows that. But piracy can serve as a positive metric. If people are pirating a game it implies there's at least an interest. I can't see Barbies Pony Adventures topping the most pirated lists.

http://pressxordie.c...-tonelico-qoga/ http://pressxordie.c...-the-witcher-2/ First two are up.
  3. http://www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/dw/news/bulletin_111211_01/Missing_Eisodes_ecovered Two of the lost episodes have been uncovered. For those not in the know, basically as a near 50 year old show a lot of its first 2 doctors worth of shows pre-date the BBCs policy of keeping hold of the film. So they're trying to get back any copies people may have had (thankfully for the BBC several foreign nations didn't just toss the film away or write over it when done. I'm to understand Australia has helped quite a bit). Some are just audio-tapes, which have been remade as animations. With the 50th anniversary coming up it's quite nice to get a couple more episodes back.
  4. Heard on the wire ND announced a new game, looked it up, found it was another zombie game, immediately lost interest.
  5. The principle you're looking for is "Rule of Thirds". It very much favours the centre square: No matter which way you slice it
  6. When the rumours were circulating that the new Bioware game would be C&C I was actually somewhat curious to see "a new direction" as the teaser stated. Somewhat bummed to find out it's just "the same direction" instead and is still an RTS and is pretty much purely got the Bioware name slapped on in the past few months for brand recognition. Given that EA pretty much killed off C&C with Tiberian Twilight I guess they needed a bit more umph in order to re-revive the series (just over a year later too...)
  7. If you pirate the game it at the very least shows interest (and piracy rates tend to scale with metacritc ratings). So this enforces that at the very least there is a much wider market and interest in this kind of game than purely those who purchased it. Now should a game get just enough sales to be financially viable, but not enough to straight away warrant a sequel piracy numbers indicate an untapped market. This does mean that in their next version they'll attempt to grab those who pirated too. Most developers take the route of being DRM heavy, CD Projekt take the route of being DRM-free (And bunch of extras on top). So the net positive effect is that 1. sequel gets made, people rejoice. 2. depending on developer it comes with more incentives too for the legit buyer.
  8. Just updating the post Oh and the new studio is "Bioware Victory/Victory Games". They were named as Victory Games ages ago (Well earlier this year) so no idea why it recently became a Bioware studio, doesn't make much sense except for brand recognition, despite Bioware having RPG brand recognition and C&C being an RTS franchise, but I have no idea what the fuck EA is up to these days so I'm not going to attempt to rationalise their thinking.
  9. We discussed it last night. He uses adblock too.

Yeah I mainly care for the trailers. But it's something I can put in a window on mute for the times when it's not trailers.

Well, it's 8pm on US East coast. I think it's currently 5 hours behind UK. As for where, Spike site doesn't seem to be streaming it (it'd be US-only anyways...). I usually read Joystiq's live comments since they hate the show as much as I do. They also upload the trailers in a timely-ish manner.

So not too late, I may jsut check our Joystiq for as n when. tbh I wouldn't be surprised if most big blogs have the videos n shit already.

    Press X or Die

There was actually a brief moment where it never ended up on the list. Given the limited amount of writers and the large amount of games quite a few got cut in the end.

  15. About 10 minutes. It did suck after all. If I'd put more time in it I'd maybe have something better.
  16. 10p. Took a while until I could pick it up though.
  17. Minor PSA to PXOD writers: I did kinda say "the 10th" ;)

  18. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g04jyyuXXSg So with the recent announce of "The Eternity Clock" started with my Doctor Who tunes again. Good writing tunes. I may bash together a instrumental list of my classical, Doctor Who, Skrum n Oblivion. That is a terrible album sleeve.

  20. Well seeing as how there are ways to get the games without supporting the developers, it's not really a huge pain to avoid supporting this shit =) They provided a solid game, a reasonable price, excellent extras, DRM free, good patches, all the DLC no matter where you bought it from, good kb/m and 360 pad support, great visuals, etc etc. Apart from a demo they ticked pretty much every single box. And then you go and use the fact they're suing pirates (and potentially a few bystanders too) as an excuse to pirate the game so as to "avoid supporting this shit"?
  21. On one hand they did provide a pro-consumer experience. On the other hand the "let's randomly send out letters n hope we catch the right people" form of law enforcement is rather shitty. However as I bought the game and have enjoyed the "pro consumer experience" I'm still up with GoG n CD projekt. If you're gonna stop buying games from publishers because they do the whole "see what sticks" stuff you're going to have an extremely thin selection of things to buy.

  23. So it's a Killing Floor free weekend on Steam. I'm gonna suggest some time on Saturday. Probably...10PM GMT good for folks?(there's a timezone thing pinned in Event Planning if you're unsure when that is) I'll stick it up on the PXOD steam group so it'll be localized to your timezone. If more folks want to join from europe I can move the time forward, nothing wrong with yanks joining in as n when later on. http://store.steampowered.com/app/1250/
  24. People up for some Killing Floor this weekend? It's a free weekend so don't need..Dosh!
