  1. Ghost of Tsushima Also Platinumed, since it turned out I was only missing like 3 trophies (though two of those were oddly specific ones so wouldn't ever get without a guide, but at least they weren't "go and get all the flowers"). And choice wise I The "guiding wind" thing, and the smoke pillars, and birds and such are really quite neat and would be nice to see in future games (though it's odd that it's not until 2/3 in that it tells you about the pillars of smoke thing). But I'd wager it's like nemesis system where we go "oh that's quite neat" and it never shows up in any other game ever again. Largely it's otherwise largely a "competent" game, not really bringing too much major to the table but very solid. Like if it came from Ubisoft you wouldn't be very surprised. I do have a few minor grievances with it. The mission directives can be quite vague; e.g "kill the khotun", with no direction of where he is (and not like you get very accurate maps when you're in a fort). Also be nice if the hook didn't require you to be jumping/falling to use and could just look at a point and latch on to it. Also the "stances" thing is quite neat, but when you're up against multiple types at once that can get quite annoying trying to swap, and then you're wailing on the wrong type.
  2. My aunt was clearing out some stuff from storage; had my mum drop some of it my way (mainly household things; some spare magnolia paint, shelving, a bathroom mirror etc). But the diamond in the rough was totally these two: Seems they're from 1983 (actually stamped 1982 Coopyright on the bottom) And ebay reckons they're about £45($60) each, but I'm rather liking them on my shelf at the moment. They're just under a foot high, and actually quite nicely detailed. Little switch on the back to put into "Walk" or "Stand" mode, which unlocks a springed button on the hip(?) that makes the legs satisfyingly stomp up and down. I am currently feeling closer to 13 than 30. Them Ewoks are totally fucked.
  3. Apparently a lot of people didn't know. I've seen speculation that Fiege would have known; as producer of the films there's insurance considerations on actors so his medical records would have been known by a few, and they obviously kept it close. 43 is ultimately no age at all, and for a lot of the community it's a loss that will be felt quite deeply.
  4. If 55 inches is enough to satisfy your wife I wouldn't complain much.
  5. I guess I own it so should give a spin. For most of this week I should be "working from home" (all goes well, very much in the air...which means I could do with some fun gaming times to chillax).
  6. Project Power It was okay. Like many Netflix movies it's a neat concept with just slightly below par output despite the cast involved. I think here it maybe had a few too many moving parts (I think you could have maybe taken Gorden-Levitts role out, or hugely minimised it, and focused on Jamie Fox n Robin). Some of the powers are things we don't normally see, most seem quiet negative on the user (which is fair enough) to the point where I'm unsure how you find out what your power is and then get a chance to use it a second time. Like you're not immune to your power like traditional heroes (e.g jonny storm doesn't have 3rd degree burns over his body...except in Ruins), but here we have a frost lady that freezes herself to death. The "5 minutes" rule seems very loose both in how long scenes last and how some powers seem to last for much less than 5 minutes, to the point it's detrimental they show many characters setting timers on their watches. There is a bit that's confusing in that Neat premise, neat actors, neat effects. Decent afternoon film to watch on a rainy day.
  7. I have a vague idea on how this works. And that vague idea is "like a theremin and abusing the fact CRTs are electronically noisy"
  8. https://www.moddb.com/mods/moguri-mod/downloads/moguri-mod-82 This is pretty damn high quality. It is pretty much what you'd want from an official HD update, but largely fan made. And neat use of "AI" to update the backgrounds. Might have been nice to slightly smooth some of the polygons of the world map mind, bits like where the Iifa Tree roots poke out look like squares. I'd imagine ,given not really shown, that the FMVs aren't as heavily updated, but that's to be expected.

    Your Rig

    Peak PC Building action.
  10. Certainly a different angle to take Star Trek in. It's kind of amazing how many Star Trek shows we're getting at the moment.
  11. Blood Dragon is fab, but by far the outlier in terms of general gameplay of the Far Cry games.
  12. Maybe jump in with 4? Villain is quite a bit more interesting (you've probably seen the alt-ending that you can get if you just do as you're told, rather than follow the games indicator arrows). New Dawn goes for cheap quite often, and due to the expandalone nature is a fair chunk smaller than the main games. And the newest, so the most up-to-date in terms of game mechanics. Plus a fair bit of Die Antword music.
  13. Well Far Cry 1 is purely Crytek so practically its own thing. Far Cry 2 has some really good ideas but terrible implementations and is Ubisofts fist Far Cry game (so the usual Ubi caveat applies in pretty much the "good ideas,, bad polish. Next one nails it". See Watch_Dogs and Assassins Creed as well). Far Cry 3 is pretty much the template for the following games, so if you bounced off it there, then you'll bounce off 4, Primal, 5 n n New Dawn. And likely 6 as well. It's mostly standard Ubi open world fare of towers around the map, there's bad guys with bases to take down, and animals to hunt to upgrade your gear, and then some minor additions. Like Far Cry: New Dawn there's supply runs, basically sub-maps you go to for smaller missions. They were kinda neat. I swear drones got added in too. Oh and Blood Dragon, Primal, New Dawn are basically expandalones of the previous game. (though New Dawn was the most obvious in using the same map as it's officially set some years later in the same location). Blood Dragon is an alt-reality, and Primal is the same region thousands of years prior. I really quite like the formula. Just hit me just right. Though a lot of it is stealth-archer. Also being an utter dick that spots a tiger in a cage, shooting open the cage and letting that just fuck everyone up.
  14. The Old Guard The comparisons to Highlander are inevitable (though no decapitations in this). Also with Charlize Theron heading an action flick the comparisons can also be made to Atomic Blonde, which is the far superior film (well worth a watch if you haven't. Half the John Wick duo, some banging tunes and dripping bisexuality). Ultimately fairly by the book action flick with the twist of immortality. Dudley Dursley returns as a snivelling villain, and suits the role quite well. I'd like to see him in more things. There's a minor bit of creativity with the immortality stuff, but a lot of it is close to "playing dead" and I'd say the finale is the only biggy. Andys (Theron) has a distinctive axe, and you see see a shot on one of the guy having a fancy jeweled short sword, but I'd have loved a bit more on them having their own unique weapons. Her original crew are a sword guy and an archer lady, but modern crew are mostly assault rifles and pistols. Maybe having a sort of DnD type group set up might have been kinda neat (I know something recently mentioned them using DnD classes to set up their film/show even when not fantasy based). A fine way to spend an afternoon if looking for something to fill you in. Clearly setting for a sequel but it's Netflix and they're not too common on rolling out sequels.
  15. So the big theory is that's Vaas. So could be a prequel, or maybe he ain't as dead as we made him.
  16. Turns out it's a skill to unlock. Got past that bit now anyway. I'm guessing it's a "they're hard enemies now, but you get a skill to neutralise them so they become fodder and other enemies become the hard enemies"
  17. How'd you hit back though? I'll boot it up later, see how I do and if there's issues I'll do a recording.
  18. Is this game meant to have a parry/counter attack? Cos I'm getting my ass kicked by some dudes that clearly glow before attacking, and if I bring my shield up it then kinda pauses/slow-mos as if I'm meant to do something, but I've tried various combinations and nothing happens and eventually I just die cos they're otherwise quite strong. Also it's getting dull Atreus telling me something is coming through the wall everytime I reload the checkpoint (so I've put in rest mode for now and figure my sleeping brain will work on it)
  19. I'm interested to see where they take this. Got some high production values and clearly not following the book or just leaning purely on vulgarity and shock (yes, it still has that mind but so far no "Love Sausage")

  21. Happy 20th to Final Fantasy IX.

I was almost tempted, especially sticking on its OST all day, but got God of War to play through, then Tshushima next week. I can play FFIX in my dreams.

  22. Quite a neat write-up of Quibi. With some choice parts on how really it should be a sure winner with the capital, people, and talent behind it but also with the small insights and highlights into how it's basically being made by dinosaurs for kids. https://www.vulture.com/2020/07/is-anyone-watching-quibi.html Specifically TV wise I'm doing a rewatch of Archer. I fell off after the shift to "Dreamland" and the what-if format but I figure I've plenty time now and it's fine for background viewing while emails slow down. And when I've more intense viewing time I've been rewatching The Expanse and I forgot how dense the story is. I'd got to end of S3 and there's so much that happens in just 3 seasons. Also it's in 4K HDR on Amazon Prime and I have a new 4K TV so figured I'd stretch its leg somewhat and it is quite pretty. Getting prettier as show goes on too (I'd presume cos originally it wasn't at 4K HDR for the earlier seasons).
  23. Based on a short story. Looks like it could be interesting. Certainly different.
