  1. I never really went to Kotaku for gaming news that mattered. If you did, even in their "glory days", you were doing it wrong. But once that new design hit... I just couldn't do it. I could not suffer the... the... abomination of design. That and Owen. Not because I didn't like him, because — oh, wait. I didn't. No, I did. No... friggin'. He was very hard to read. Even after being banned twice, I still came back. There was some fun to be had in the comments and speak-up. Then well, you know. Again. Website. Design. Horrid.
  2. Aren't Neptune and Blanc such hot little nymphets?
  3. I don't even want to go to FNM because of that fucker.
  4. http://preview.tinyurl.com/6adq9dd Witcher 2 for £20.60/€23.56/$33.71. Coupon code "Sizzle". Via RPS. Edit: Forgot I had some screenshots. I can't find the high resolution screens, though. My computer can be a labyrinth, at times. http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.395107109396.173828.510079396&l=cc40607a3f
  5. That's hardly the case, considering assets are generally made first in high poly, looking all nice and flashy, then rendered in low poly afterward to be able to run effectively in an engine. Actually, it'd give them less(by a tiny amount) work to do. For an example, I'll use one that's incredibly popular on PC: Minecraft. You have games like Fortress Craft, but you simply cannot replicate the scale. And Minecraft isn't exactly a warren of graphical achievement. Another example? Civilization V. Probably even IV. Again, not taking into account visual integrity. Then you have the fragmented environments of games like Crysis 2 and Thief 3. And I don't even want to think about the multi-platform games that could have been better. I don't want you to think I'm displeased with the state of consoles. I've gleaned much satisfaction from the PS3 role-playing library. It's just that they place boundaries on development, and those boundaries need to be pushed up less technology becomes stagnant.
  6. Greater processing capability enables advances in game-oriented AI, shorter loading times, less pop-in, and as you mentioned, scale — with lends to much more than world size. Sure, this may mean nothing to you, but that doesn't mean it isn't a functional justification for advancement. How many games couldn't have existed on consoles in their capacity if we'd kept to the previous generation? How many games still can't exist on consoles because we're in the current generation? (Aside from graphics, which are admittedly peripheral from my perspective. Though I do sometimes find myself bleching at particularly unsightly textures or low-poly models with high-poly lighting... simply because it has to be.) Microsoft could gain plenty by simply giving its users and devs more freedom. Though I'd hardly recommend picking up a launch... anything.
  7. More power enables far, far more than better graphics. Though it would be nice to be relieved of these horrible textures most games are plagued by.
  8. Well, that's a disappointment. All three companies need to release something new.
  9. If it's true, game development will be slightly less hindered by poor hardware, Dean!
  10. Nice. Though I always had a proclivity for Ciri, myself.
  11. I never intended on purchasing Portal 2 at the full price. I picked it up at $29.99, though.
  12. Just called the store I have my game pre-ordered at. They aren't doing a midnight release for Brink or The Witcher 2. /morosetenshi I was planning on pulling an all nighter. I think my save files may have been corrupted. I hope not, since the second game pulls from your choices in the first.
  13. Well, it's a mix of the role-playing affair and VN. So it's similar to the sort of experience you'd get from the Ar tonelico series. I like role-playing games and I like VNs, but a marriage of the two always works best for me.
  14. Yep. Every game isn't for everyone — I've no qualms with that(though I am far from without qualms... far from it). Can't expect to turn people to The Witcher the same way I can't be turned to Halo. Everything in the game just sort of fit together for me. Perhaps I overlooked some issues, but I came out of the experience without any real need to voice any problems. That's rare for me, and I appreciate it.
  15. I did. The dude was friggin' useless. He just walked up to it and died every time. Were you playing on the hardest difficulty setting? Speaking of him: ...wait. Is there no spoiler tag? I GUESS I'LL SPOIL EVERYTHING! HO HO HO! Maybe that's one of the draws of the game? None of the fake moral grays from similar western role-playing titles. Hasn't been broski'd like Bioware titles, either. I feel for their writers. Really.
  16. It was the other way around for me. >.>
  17. I meant Act I and the swamp as two separate entities. Generally, I just ran through the swamp in the swift-sworded stance. I actually found it endearing because of the many places to explore. The next Act was better, I think. Those verdant(but not really) fields were nice. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q8mvMS-kqhw See: fun times. Though if someone doesn't enjoy the game, they probably shouldn't be playing it.
  18. Huh. I wonder what's up with Act I and the swamp. Neither really troubled me. Aside from that cursed pit hound. Had to resort to knocking her down for insta-kill.
  19. God, I am going to be so friggin' angry-face when I move to Canada and have to wait two weeks for NISA to ship special editions. The puzzle-spire on this one has left me dubious. On one hand, I like lascivious lasses. They're nice. On the other, the tower just pissed me off. On one hand, Atlus stories tend to capture you quite well. On the other hand, I like lascivious lasses. They're nice. *sulks off to switch pre-order to deluxe edition*
  20. After installing an adventure: "You just hit New Game, and it gives you the option to play the new stuff." That's what the side-adventures are when you hit "New Game".
  21. Are you running 1.5? Have you tried installing the hotfix?
  22. It's a port, and it suffers because of it. Technical bugs can be a pain. For $9.99, I'd say it's worth it. The element that troubles most players is that you can't build your own deck(you can unlock 20+ cards per deck). It helps maintain a level playing field, though. Really, there isn't much else to say about it. It's MtG streamlined.
  23. Yeah, XBLA is pretty complicated. I'd go with Steam.
