Just don't ask me to swing the fucking sword accurately.

Unfortunately, them being fucked means us being fucked, TCP.

I read liberal terrorists, Mal. SUCH AN ALT-RIGHT! -
Let us know. I've heard good things about it. Haven't been interested in RE for like a decade, but if the hype is real, might be worth a shot.

Was being sarcastic.

He already had a PC.

Pillars of Eternity. Really enjoyed it. Recalled the days of Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale all the while departing from the expected in both setting and mechanics. Story and characters weren't bad—especially enjoyed the druid. Also love how the party acted toward the cipher. Ended up killing the boss almost instantly, him being knocked down the whole time, too.

TN states it nicely.

But Zelda's crying. You guys should all be offended and boycott Nintendo.

I'd be at least a bit more interested if that Mario title didn't look terrible. Like some GTA San Andreas version of Mario is Missing.

And now let's . . . switch. As with all consoles, I'll wait until after launch. Not a purely Nintendo thing. I didn't mind the presentation. In fact, I enjoyed it. Seemed cheesy, but not in a bad way. Zelda would probably be enough for me at launch—I bought a Wii for it after all, despite it being on GCN at the time, too. But I'll give it a few months. As far as paid online is concerned, I couldn't care less. I don't buy a Nintendo console to play online.

That bug. Hah! Reminds me of the sinking ship. The river traversal, traffic, and the boats all looked like a good time. Only watching, but it seemed pretty smooth. Although, poor guy jumped in the river. That'll never wash out. Gave your video a watch. Clever, and unexpected as a mission objective. May give it a go . . . someday. Backlogs, man. I've never been into Assassin's Creed. Only played the first, and while I got pretty far, I didn't feel compelled to finish it. Haven't bothered since. Half because eh, half because I figure I'd be missing something if I don't start from the beginning. -
I agree with your negatives (and your positives). Could've used some improvement in those areas, especially ScoutX. I think the worst of it was the distance between you and summoned vehicles. Very wonky, that. Sometimes it doesn't mind parking on the road. Sometimes it finds a "nearby" parking lot. Didn't really look into it, but it could be the case that it'd only spawn in legitimate parking spaces? I was fortunate enough to have all the DLC clothing unlocked for free, so I can't really comment on the clothing selection. Not sure which was which. Ended up with mostly psychedelic and, uh, the leather jacket and hat from the hacker film. I really can't understate how much more entertaining the multiplayer made the game for me. Especially that it wasn't some other game mode, and that it was mostly seamless. Often would disrupt a quest, but I was often doing quests anyway. A diversion that was more than welcome, though I did go hack some folks intentionally. doing a small side quest, when suddenly invaded. Then . Linked times both for convenience and avoid potential quest spoilers. For those unaware: invasions involve players that will randomly be prompted that a member of a rival hacking group is nearby, and they can then choose to attempt a hack (or not). Bounties occur when another player is being chase by the police (3 stars or more, I think?), and it'll sometimes give you the option to take part in catching the other player. Also worth noting again is how they handled Josh. Sympathetic, and not in your face. As far as open world games like these go, I still prefer GTAV, but Watch_Dogs 2 was different enough that it didn't matter.

Watched my wife play some hours of The Last Guardian. It seemed irritating. Not just the pet dogcatbirdlasers, but the controls.

Are you sure about the research-gating? Could just be me, but if I wanted something in particular I never had trouble finding it. You're using Hackervision, right? Then looking for the green staticy thing? Also, man, you're missing out. The invasions and bounties are great diversions. -

I've heard it's one of the better ones. Have it sitting unopened at the moment. Let us know what you think. -

Pillars of Eternity With all the games I was fortunate enough to be gifted this year, it's almost harrowing trying to choose which to play first. But a close friend of many years gifted Pillars, so here I am. Not a bad experience thus far, if you're into the old isometric Icewind Dale- and Baldur's Gate-type RPGs. Certainly imitates them very well. Main character is an elven chanter named Sarlaith Proseloudly. It's somewhat disappointing that the chants aren't voiced besides some unintelligible stuff here and there. Probably would get irritating after a while, but I would've liked to at least have it every now and then. The way Obsidian handled backer characters in-game was inventive, even going as far as not just tying them into the main plot, but making them supplement it pretty well. Only if you're looking to read the long text that goes with, though. I did find myself a little confused by the named NPC until I asked the guy who gifted it (he was a backer, so he's in there somewhere). Generally, I expect NPCs with actual names to be important characters. Guild Wars 2 Been raiding with the static weekly, though that's on hiatus for the holidays. Besides that, been doing the Wintersday event. And climbing the PvP ladder this season. Finally made it to Platinum. I probably belong in low Platinum/high Gold given that I've hovered around that point for 99 games, with a 55% win rate. Edit: Oh. Darkest Dungeon Got this to run on my Surface Pro 2 while I was away from the computer. It runs really well, actually, but there are issues with giving commands and using certain items. It's playable, but you're more crippled than you already are. Anyway, it's an atmospheric, unforgiving dungeon crawler. I'd like to see more of these (and roguelikes) that offer more variety and creativity in their encounters. As it stands, Darkest Dungeon is good anyhow. -
Did that Victorian era anti-porn law ever go through?

Game of the Year: While I'm not all that qualified to vote for a GOTY given that I hardly ever play games during their release year, Overwatch seems to have been a resounding success. It's polished, refreshingly fun multiplayer that even draws in players that typically avoid first-person shooters. Disappointment of the Year: Disappointment sort of implies expectation, and I don't usually have high expectations for games. But if there were a game that'd be disappointing, No Man's Sky sure fits the bill. Surprise of the Year: Didn't give any shits about the first game, so I didn't really expect much from the second. Had a free copy, though, and a newfound motivation to at least give it a chance. Turned out to be pretty damn good. Favorite Moment in a Game: Again. Not any one moment in particular, but the multiplayer invasions and bounty hunts were great diversions. Hella entertaining. Most Anticipated in 2017: Don't really anticipate games. But if I did, Hellblade would be up there.

I haven't actually played the game. Just watched a few gameplay videos. Is it really a somewhat-accurate recreation of Akihabara? Also heard the PC version had issues? Think it was here.

A bit of both.

Mr. NOEL! is living up to his name and going balls deep this year. Thanks so much, bud. Really unexpected. -
I hear the first wasn't very good?

Watch_Dogs 2. Pleasantly surprised me. I admit I only started playing it because of a personal investment (and it was free), but I didn't come into it expecting much. Whether the first game was good or not, I wasn't even interested in it. 2 was a blast.
