  1. I don't know about a PC version. Logistically, it would be very hard to keep the same environment carefully crafted by From Software. There are so many elements; the particular way it saves, the random, peculiar way it matches you up with other opponents/companions; these things would be difficult to maintain on PC. I'm also convinced that PC gamers would try to mod the title. And if there's one game that should never be modified by fans, it's Dark Souls.
  2. http://kotaku.com/5812460/the-struggles-of-a-gay-xcom-scientist Totally forgot XCOM is going for a gay character. Let's see how well it goes...
  3. Wow, Benedict Cumberbatch is going to be the villain in Star Trek 2. Dude is already having quite the 2012

... seriously? Well at least they're not type-casting villains. He's a great actor, I'll have to see how he does as a villain in a sci fi film

  4. Those are some excellent points. You're probably right; it might be better to wait for proper representation than some cliche, offensive stereotype.
  5. Johnny shared this with me yesterday. Such an amazing video and song.
  6. See, while I share your concerns about portraying the LGBT characters well, I also recognize we need to try to make the leap at some point, or else it will never get better. You can't just say "Oh, we shouldn't build this house because no one's built it before"; be the first to build it, lay the proper groundwork down, and even if you do a shitty job, the others that come after you (or even yourself) could improve and build on your original attempt. But nothing's going to get done if we all just stand there, waiting for someone else to take the plunge.
  7. The Adventures of Tintin. Such a fantastic movie! I loved everything about it. It practically redeems Spielberg for Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
  8. Portal 2 is one of the most pirated games? Gross. That game is too good to be pirated.
  9. Every DX11 game has forced me into 1280x780. Do you know how I can fix this?

My best guess is that if you go into your display settings, your PC might think it's outputting to a "generic monitor" and limiting you? You may be able to get a .INF file from the manufacturer that has the right settings for that. At that res (or 1280x720?) maybe it also thinks your monitor is an HDTV? I could see it if it only let you pick 480p, 720p, or 1080p...

  11. I'm probably the worst grandson in the world for being like this, but not being able to access my computer to check Steam sales, constantly tweet or work on my video/writing work is KILLING me.

Spend time with your grandparents. When they are gone you will wish you spent more time with them. Plenty of time for tech and the internet.

Duke, spend time with the internet. When SOPA passes you'll wish you spent more time with it. Plenty of time for relatives after that. :D

I did that all last week with my phone. It sucked.

  12. Mr. GOH is a patron saint, and PunkBuster is Scrooge, Mr. Grinch, and that fire imp from that stop-motion Christmas special all rolled into one.

Yeah, Punkbuster can be a right pain in the ass but I'd still choose it over VAC any day of the week.

Any anti-cheating system will be a pain. The point in Punkbuster's favor is that it seems to be far more effective at actually stopping cheaters than other similar solutions.

  13. Girl with the Dragon Tattoo was unbelievably awesome.

Sister has read the whole trilogy and is excited to go see it. I just began reading the book two days ago. Thanks airport bookstores!

      MasterDex

Just started reading the first book. Hasn't really kicked in yet.

  14. The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. Exceeded every one of my expectations. Fincher made it his own, and the result was absolutely brilliant. The acting, cinematography, and score... the score was mind-blowing. I hope someone rips that intro bit to YouTube soon. I kind of want to watch it over and over again.

  15. Man, you guys weren't kidding when you said FRAPS eats up a lot of space. A one minute test clip I recorded tore through two gigs.

Doesn't FRAPS record uncompressed, too? Compress it when you're done.

    3. toxicitizen

      toxicitizen

Heh. Reminds me of that time I forgot FRAPS was running and didn't know quick load was the same key as video capture. Spent half an hour wondering why my framerate was so shit. Then I quit the game and realized I'd recorded over 60 GBs of footage lol

I once completely filled up my hard drive. Well, not completely, but it's the only time I've ever gotten a "low disk space" warning on my primary.

Let me know how ya like the i7. I was considering getting it but most sources say the i5 2600k is all you need for gaming.

  18. In just a few days, my new PC will be up and running. And then I will either smoke you all or join your fight for victory.
  19. I like to think that his true masterpiece was "Street Fighter: The Movie".
  20. After you said that, I went to check on my Skyrim save folder. Turns out I had 303 MB worth of save files, so I deleted almost all of them. Only ones left now are the single most-recent and three autosave files.
