  1. Fair enough, although if it makes you feel any better they haven't really sent me anything so far except notifications about updates to the game.
  2. Blow is a blow-hard and Braid is one of the most pretentious and overrated games I've ever played in my life. I still haven't played The Witness because it just put me off so much.
  3. Multiversus also has crossplay across all platforms, which is what the account is for.
  4. Oh yeah the writing was phenomenal. I still remember my favorite bit of dialogue in the whole game that sticks with me even now.
  5. Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon 2 Got this in the last Steam sale. It's a good bit longer than the first game, and while it's been a while since I played the first one it also felt harder, sometimes to an annoying degree. The later boss battles in the game are pretty brutal and the checkpoints are pretty far back, which is faithful to the days of the NES, sure, but that doesn't stop it from being annoying as shit to have to redo several screens of punishing enemies and platforming every time you lose a life before you can tackle the boss again. You also have to beat the game three times to get the true ending, and I'm never a fan of this kind of padding, but to be fair each playthrough does have some slight differences so that replaying the same levels isn't EXACTLY the same. Despite these complaints I'd still say it's a pretty good game. The playable characters all feel unique and useful in their own ways (although Zangetsu feels underpowered), the levels are well designed with branching paths and shortcuts to explore, the bosses are challenging, and the music is good. A nice throwback for fans of classic Castlevania.
  6. I will never forgive Netflix for canceling The Dark Crystal
  7. Are you telling me that the correct pronunciation was "Yoobisoft" this entire time?
  8. Yakuza 3 is definitely the low point of the series. I still wouldn't say 4 is as good as 0 or Kiwami 2, but it never felt like a total slog for me to get through like 3 did at least. Some think 5 is the best one. I wouldn't go that far but it probably is the best one that isn't 0 or 7. Yakuza 6 is divisive because it's a lot smaller in scope and less ambitious than 5 but I thought it was fine. I could see it being disappointing if you had just come off 5 and were waiting years for 6 to come out since it goes from 5 playable characters back to just Kiryu but it didn't really bother me.
  9. Jesus Christ I can't believe how hot it is lately. It's so damn hot I don't even want to game because the extra heat it produces makes me want to kill myself. Fuck climate change. Fuck Ted Cruz. Fuck Texas. Fuck the Sun. Fuck Kylie Jenner. Fuck everything.

It hasn't actually stopped me from gaming, but it has made me at least consider it every time I turn on my PC.

  10. I got into the Multiversus beta and it's not quite what I expected. I don't mean that in a good or bad way, it's just different. For starters, while it is a platform fighter like Smash Bros and is clearly trying to cash in on its popularity, it feels a lot more casual than any Smash game. There is a dodge button but there is no block and no universal throw that everyone can use. Special moves work on a cooldown so you can't spam them endlessly. There are also no heavy or smash attacks, but you can charge up most basic attacks by holding down the button. If you're someone who has never played Smash, I could see it being relatively easy to pick this up. Nickelodeon All-Stars is trying to be the competitive brawler while this is trying to be more like a party game. While there is a free for all mode, the game heavily emphasizes the 2v2 mode because a lot of your specials have passive effects that can either buff your teammate or debuff your opponent. There are also equippable perks when you level a character up that give them some passive buffs as well, so that means it's not really going to be a totally level playing field unless everyone is the same rank but I'm still figuring out just how much of a difference those perks make in a match. I can't say much about the microtransactions because this is a preseason. There's a battle pass for 4.99 but I doubt it'll stay that price when the full game launches. There are some cosmetics like character skins, profile flair, taunts, and special effects that can only be unlocked with premium currency, but thankfully the characters can all be unlocked using coins that you earn in game. Maybe they'll change it later, but at least right now it only took me a couple hours to do enough daily missions to get the coins I needed to unlock Bugs Bunny, who quickly became my main. Really, the game is free to play so there's no real risk in trying it out if you like the genre. Someone did the math and concluded the current cost to unlock every single cosmetic was around $250, which is a lot, yeah, but compared to the $500,000 to max out ONE character in Diablo Immortal it's way less egregious, so I'm hoping the prices stay somewhat reasonable once the game starts its first season and we don't see any nonsense like $40 skins. Maybe that's wishful thinking but at least right now I haven't seen any individual item that costs more than 20. Still more than I think any digital accessory should cost but it's not so much it makes me recoil with disgust. We'll see how it pans out.
  11. I own all these fancy games but lately I'm addicted to Vampire Survivors, which is a little $2.99 where all you do is move the joystick around to move your character while they auto-fire their weapon to ward off an impossible tidal wave of monsters. That's really all there is to it. The only other thing you do is choose upgrades from the menu when you level up. It's as simple as can be, but I can't stop unlocking new characters, levels, and weapons and I'm also hooked on trying out new builds and weapon combinations. You're automatically killed when you hit the 30 minute mark...usually...but it still counts as completing the level and giving you access to a new one. I just gotta find out where this all leads. I'm determined to find that damn vampire eventually and kill him.
  12. Apparently the assassin bears a weird resemblance to Hideo Kojima so the poor guy is never going to hear the end of it.
  13. Yeah, if you can beat Elden Ring then you should be able to handle Cuphead just fine. All the boss attacks are pretty well telegraphed if you pay attention.
  14. Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course This took me about two hours to beat, but I'm fairly good at the game and didn't really get stuck on any boss for long so your mileage may vary. It's only 8 bucks though and the new bosses are fun to fight. The animation, as expected, looks spectacular to a degree that would give Fleischer Studios itself a run for its money. Don't expect it to reinvent the wheel, though. This is, pure and simple, just more Cuphead. If you like Cuphead, you should be happy. One thing worth noting is that if you struggle with Cuphead and could never finish it, playing as Ms. Chalice makes it easier since she has abilities the others do not. She's like the Funky Kong of the game.
  15. So wait, is this a continuation of the original anime? That's...interesting.
  16. I've never had an issue with CDKeys myself and I use them a lot.
  17. Either I'm bad at Hades or I am just not patient enough and haven't unlocked enough upgrades yet
  18. Did you guys do it with or without the god mode on? Because I've been refusing to use it and I have yet to even get past that dual boss on the third area.
  19. Beavis the Butt-Head Do the Universe Holy crap this is the funniest movie I've seen in a while. Throwing them into 2022 through timey-wimey ball shenanigans results in some of the best modern satire in recent memory. There are certain scenes that I wish I could talk about but it's too funny to spoil. Mike Judge has still got it.
  20. Shredder's Revenge is so damn charming. I don't know where to begin with how great this game is. The six player co-op? The cartoony graphics and animation? The updated gameplay that preserves the old mechanics and moves while also improving them to give you better control and variety? The many, many references not just to the tv show but also previous Turtles games? The 90s style music complete with goofy, cheesy butt rock and hip hop themes you'd expect to find on one of the old movie soundtracks? The boss fights with pretty much any old school Turtles villain you could ask for? Really, the only thing I can say in the negative about the game is that it's short, but it's a beat-em-up. You should know it's short before you even buy it, and even then there are challenges and achievements to go for to give it some extra replay value. I may just have to declare this the best Turtles game ever made. It's right up there with Turtles in Time at least.
  21. I was always hoping we could one day see a more faithful anime adaptation of Trigun. I like the one that exists but I still want my Trigun Brotherhood.
