Sokobond. I have to say, between Hexcells and now this, I'm really loving this trend of thinky little puzzle games coming out on Steam. The chemistry theme can be a little off-putting at first but you really don't need any knowledge of chemistry to play it, it's nowhere near as complex as something like SpaceChem. But that's not to say it's a walk in the park, either. I completed all of the basic levels like a week ago but after the credits a new batch of levels unlocked and those were pretty damn challenging. There really isn't much else to say about it. If you're familiar with Sokoban, this game clearly draws from it a little. But yeah, if you like puzzle games, it's a damn good one.

If you mean out of any games on that list, then definitely Mark of the Ninja. It's the best stealth game since Splinter Cell Chaos Theory. You just can't go wrong with it.

OH GOD, YES!! I kinda feel like the wait for this one was much shorter than it was for HotS. Also, it's standalone. I understand why but meh. It better integrate with the old client for those that are already up to date because I don't want two completely separate installs/programs just to have access to all 3 campaigns.

Resident Evil 6. Just finished Leon's campaign. Good God, this is supposed to be the "traditional, atmospheric" one of the bunch? Similar to RE4?! Hahahaha, okay, Capcom. Clearly you have no idea what the hell you're doing anymore. Or, maybe you just don't understand what it is you used to do. Either way, the only word I can use to describe the game so far is excess. People have been complaining that the series is devolving into action for years but it is fucking absurd to point at this campaign and say: "This is the atmospheric one!". That's not what atmospheric is and any comparison to RE4 is completely unjustified. That being said, fuck me, the game is actually pretty damn fun! It's fucking awful but still fun as hell. It's not broken or anything but I dunno, something about the faster movement feels kinda janky to me. I mean, even though I loved Resident Evil 5, I understand why people had issues with it. So when I say that RE6 makes RE5 look like a goddamn masterpiece by comparison, you know something's very wrong here. But hey, at least the story is the same good old cheesy schlock I know and love and that's good enough for me. Oh and I almost didn't notice at first but it's kinda nice to have the traditional zombies back. Now if only the game was a little creepier... Anyway, I'm not sure which campaign to play next. I was thinking Chris but apparently the recommended order is Leon->Jake->Chris? I mean, I've seen the chronological list of all the chapters but fuck that, I'm not jumping from one campaign to the next every two chapters.
-
Honestly, while I'm sure there's a recommended order, I don't think the difficulty varies enough for it to matter. I'm pretty sure every time I made it there I went about it in a different order. Without knowing your level, I guess I'd recommend the Catacombs under Firelink Shrine. I could be wrong but I think they're the easiest out of all the remaining big areas. As for the ghost ruins, I'll just say this: there is a point about halfway through where if you make it there the ghosts shouldn't be a problem for you anymore. I usually just run straight for it and worry about killing ghosts later. Oh man, just talking about it makes me want to start a new playthrough, I can't fucking wait for the Steamworks update next month! I've been wanting to replay it ever since I finished 100%ing Dark Souls II months ago.

I don't know how much the Halloween discount is actually supposed to be but I guess it stacked with the loyalty discount I get from owning the original version because it was like 2 bucks. Well, 2,80$ since I got the bundle with the soundtrack. Hard to argue with that price and I really wanted to check out the new content. Plus, you know, Guacamelee is fucking amazing so I'll jump on any excuse to replay it. I love that game so much, I'm actually looking forward to redoing all the achievements. Except for the Infernio challenges, though, because holy shit a few of them were so fucking frustrating.

This is most definitely on it. Like, seriously, were you on drugs?

Yeah, normally I'd expect Arc System Works to re-release it down the line and make a PS4 version while they're at it. But, unlike their own IPs like BlazBlue, the original P4A never got any kind update or new version, so I don't really know what to expect with this one. I think it's really Atlus' call in this case.

It's a direct sequel, it takes place a couple days later. The original's story mode is also available as DLC but it's unfortunately unchanged. Seems like a wasted opportunity, I would've gladly bought a "fixed" version of it.

Persona 4 Arena Ultimax. Well, it took me way longer than it should have but I finally completed the last episode of the story mode. I got started on it right away when I got my copy at the beginning of the month but then I got into that mid-semester rush with tons of work to do and studying for midterms and all that. So, I barely had any time to game the last few weeks and whenever I did manage to sneak in a few hours, I focused on ACIII. I was only able to get back to Ultimax a couple days ago. So, overall the game is massive improvement over the original. The new flowchart structure for the story mode is much more suited to this kind of story. Each episode (one for the P4 cast and one for the P3 cast) follows the entire cast and characters have their own story branches that keep splitting off and re-joining. The story itself is kinda meh but initially it was a blast to play through. Then I completed the P4 episode and unlocked the P3 one... That's where things got a little disappointing. The one thing that bugged me the most about the original was how you had to replay through the same story as every single character and all the different versions contradicted each other. I figured that the new story structure was intended to fix that but unfortunately that wasn't the case. The P3 story contradicts the P4 one in a few big ways and then that other character's episode ends up adding yet another different version of some events. Sigh... you had just the one thing to fix, damnit! There's the true ending that kind of overrides everything but the fact that there even is one makes me wonder why they didn't make an effort to have both episodes complement each other a little better. Oh well, at least the actual gameplay is still fucking fantastic. I haven't spent a lot of time in Golden Arena but what little I've played seemed fun enough to keep me playing for a while. I'm usually pretty stingy when it comes to fighting games but overall I feel like this one was definitely worth the 60 bucks.

Ha, thread moved. Suck it, Cowboy!

Bought using my GMG credit. I was keeping that credit for Final Fantasy XIII-2 but whatever, fuck that shitty game. Valkyria Chronicles is a much better use of it!

Hot Heart said it best: Anyway, pre-orders are up on Steam! http://store.steampowered.com/app/294860/?snr=1_7_7_comingsoon_150_2

Coming November 11th, includes all the DLC, £14.99/€19.99/$19.99. http://segabits.com/blog/2014/10/30/segas-valkyria-chronicles-officially-announced-for-pc-here-are-the-details/ Seems very reasonable. Never got around to buying any of the DLC so it'll be nice to finally play it.
-
Uh, holy shit?! I wonder if it'll be an actual important part of the story or just an half-baked afterthought like the Desmond missions usually were. Sure looks sweet as hell, though.

You say that as if big, ambitious handheld games are common. I know Sony initially tried to sell the Vita as a AAA experience on the go but were there really any AAA-like handheld games before? Golden Abyss was pretty damn ambitious, yeah, but the only other I can think of that even comes close to it would be Gravity Rush. Maybe Killzone Mercenaries? I dunno, I haven't played it. Shit, I'd argue there's no such thing as a AAA handheld game, period. They tend to be either much smaller (SRPGs, visual novels, etc.) or they re-use assets and maps a lot (Monster Hunter clones and such).
-
Ugh, not this fucking argument again. Oh man, I fucking wish. Advance Wars is amazing. Freedom Wars is a dumb Monster Hunter clone or whatever. Advance Wars is for babies, Freedom Wars is way better. Your instant dismissal of anything Nintendo-related is getting a little sad, man. Get over it already. Also, you are wrong. But seriously, let me know how you like Freedom Wars. It looks interesting but none of these Monster Hunter-like games have ever clicked for me. Couldn't get into Soul Sacrifice and I uninstalled the Toukiden demo after like 5 mins.

Oh man, I somehow never expected Avengers 3 to be a two-parter. That's fucking awesome. I kinda feel like they announced this way too early, though. I think I might be legit more pumped about Civil War than I am for Age of Ultron now. Probably because I know next to nothing about Ultron or any age that might pertain to him. Whereas, I know how insane shit is likely to get in Civil War.

Yeah, up until that tank mission I didn't even know you could save mid-mission. That mission forced me to both find out and abuse the shit out of it. It's a pain but it's really worth putting up with because it's fairly early on and the rest of the game is so damn good. Besides, after a few attempts you'll know exactly where to position your guys to both avoid the tank's fire and get a good firing angle on it. It's frustrating but it's really not that bad, just requires a little bit of persistence. Now, announce a release date already, SEGA, so that I can decide whether I'll wait for this or just play VC2 on my Vita already.
-
Yeah, and it'll come out around the same time as the Final Fantasy Type-0 Vita version, right?
-
Yeah, I love the enthusiasm on GAF but holy shit do a lot of them lack the basic common sense that should come with it. As for SEGA's expectations, that's a good question. I think they should be fairly realistic. They've been in the PC market for a while now and have a lot of titles on Steam. I mean, if even Square Enix and their batshit insane, out-of-touch-with-reality sales expectations can be satisfied enough to do a late port of FFXIII, then surely SEGA can be pleased too.
-
Yeah, this is admittedly a very weird choice for a port. Especially considering that Vanquish uses the same engine as Metal Gear Rising, which is already on PC, while this is running on some weird PS3-centric engine. But I think there's definitely an audience for VC on PC. It is a turn-based strategy game, after all. And, more importantly, this makes me very optimistic that Vanquish is also coming.
-
Holy shit, coming to PC!! https://twitter.com/SEGA/status/526884918677471232 Someone move this to multiplat, I guess. You nerds better fucking buy it this time. This game is seriously so good. If it flops a second time, heads will roll.
