  1. I could get Beyond Earth for like 15 bucks thanks to all that Playfire Rewards GMG credit I accumulated and it's really tempting to just go for it. But I'm not willing to risk it until they reveal the system requirements. I'm probably fine since it doesn't look much more demanding than Civ V but I've been burned before. Fool me once and all that.
  2. Yes! Burn the witch! BURRRNNN HERRRRR!!
  3. I've been following this drama since it started and I think the timing of this shitstorm (Depression Quest just came out on Steam) and the fact that, AFAIK, no one has managed to prove any of those allegations says a lot here. The guy that wrote the blog post that started everything seemed more interested in character assassination than in exposing any alleged unethical behavior. All I'm really getting from this is that maybe, possibly Zoe Quinn is a shitty person? Okay. Why should I even care? It's none of my damn business, I don't know her. There's a reason no press outlet has picked up this "story" and that's because it isn't one. The only thing all this has really accomplished is once again showing how fucking vile and disgusting gaming communities can be. It takes a truly fucked up mind to think any of this justifies harassing someone like what's been going on the past few days.
  4. A bit of both, I think. But the thing with Rogue Legacy is that all you really need to do is try not to die until you have enough gold to level up. The persistent character progression means it's almost impossible to truly get stuck.
  5. I'm the same way with Incognita/Invisible Inc. I bought alpha access as soon as it came out because I fucking love Klei but almost a year later and I barely touched it beyond the first couple weeks. I had kinda forgotten about it, to be honest. It finally came out on Steam Early Access today. I should probably fire it up and see how it's coming along. It seemed to have a lot of potential a year ago but there was very little content in the original build. But a fear I have with buying early access is that I don't wanna get too into it and risk getting sick of the game before the full version comes out...
  6. Yeah, obviously I'd rather get MGSV on PC but at this point I'm kind of overdue for a complete system upgrade. I seriously doubt it'll be anywhere near playable on my current rig. It just makes more sense to get a PS4 first. It's cheaper and I'll be able to play most of the multiplat games I'm really interested in + the exclusives.
  7. Man, this is quickly becoming one of my most anticipated games. If there was any doubt left that it's a Souls game in all but name, then this removes all of it. Up until now I had assumed that The Phantom Pain would be the game that makes me pull the trigger on a PS4 purchase but at this point it's most likely going to be whichever comes out first between MGSV and this.
  8. Honestly, it comes naturally from just playing. You don't need to be very good to play, I don't feel particularly good after 20+ hours on the PC version, but I made it to the final boss. I just kinda stopped playing before beating him. It's very similar to the Souls games in the sense that you should learn from every death and it's usually your own fault that you died. Impatience is your worst enemy. It also plays surprisingly well on Vita!
  9. Yeah, ideally it'll come out just in time so I can play it over christmas break. That would be awesome. If you mean Lorence, apparently he is beatable. O_o Got my ass handed to me big time, though. And the evil bastards at XSEED made a Steam achievement for winning that fight. And yeah, the OST of FC is a bit bland. Not terrible by any means but it never really stands out. But based on what little I've heard of the next two games, it does improve significantly! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R391GAyN_kM
  10. Well, in the case of Assassin's Creed an argument could be made that having a really large team is what allows them to crank them out yearly. But even then I feel like it's the usual Ubisoft excess. Trials Fusion had something like 200 people working on it. Think about that for a second. Trials Evolution was a small game made by a small team. Did Fusion really need that kind of a team? And even then they still somehow managed to release half a game and sell us the other half as DLC. I'm not sure if the first DLC pack is even out yet.
  11. My favorite part is the "by my estimation". It really came off as if he viewed himself as some kind of expert analyst. Did he actually elaborate on what he based those estimations on? I'm assuming he didn't but I really don't feel like going back to read that nonsense to check. And lol at that late 2015 time table. I mean, there's an actual point to be made about the current state of the AAA industry and how sustainable it is in the long run. But the guy went way off the deep end on that one.
  12. Yeah, I think his novella-sized delirious OP in the DOOOOOOOMED! thread touched on that at some point.
  13. Oh you meant TC in that second quote? I wasn't sure who you were talking about there. And you should know better, Cowboy. Blame Wally. Always blame Wally. It's what I do, even in real life.
  14. http://store.steampowered.com/app/311340/ http://store.steampowered.com/app/287700/ From the wording on the Konami stream, it sounds like Ground Zeroes is coming "soon" and Phantom Pain later. They still haven't announced a release date anyway so I guess it's possible it might be day and date with consoles. Also, I think Fox Engine was built with multiplatform development in mind. So I would hope that means a solid PC version.
  15. Do you have some kind of creepy obsession with me or something? What is going on here?! ... or is this just the thread where you hide to talk shit behind me back?! *subscribes to thread*
  16. Ground Zeroes and Phantom Pain officially coming to PC/Steam! Yay! Probably won't be able to run it without a complete upgrade but great news nonetheless!
  17. So, it's been a while, but it sounds like you're barely a few hours in. And you're already thinking of stopping? Wat. It's a JRPG, you need a bit of patience, man. Those can take a little while to get going. Just pretend that Tidus is mentally ill and everyone else is humoring him. Also, as someone who enjoyed FFXIII for what it was, FFX is so much better it's not even funny. I mean, X's story isn't an incoherent mess of nonsense, for one. And it has an actual combat system that doesn't prefer playing with itself.
  18. Yeah, it was refreshing as hell how during their conference Sony were very explicit "these are first-party exclusives" and "this is coming first on" etc. I fucking love how this exclusive bullshit backfired on Microsoft big time here. This kind of purposefully confusing messaging can go fuck itself and needs to stop right here. If you're going to be a blight on the industry with your shitty exclusivity deals, at least be open about it. It's only going to hurt you in the long run when people realize how full of shit you are.
  19. Nah, FFX is great. At least half the main characters are good, story is really interesting, battle system is solid and the world is beautiful. I'm starting to think Cowboy simply has no tastes. Or maybe he just doesn't like Final Fantasy. Which other FFs have you played, Cowboy? And have you enjoyed them at all?
  20. Interesting. Which ones would you say are the best then? All I know is most people seem to hate Graces. edit: Oh yeah, forgot about Vesperia. I hear that one is really good. Sucks that they never localized the PS3 port.
  21. Yeah, the way people say Symphonia is one of the best in the series is really putting me off of trying more of them. :/ I was discussing it with someone online and they mentioned the point where most people say it gets good. And that's about where I was, so it's possible I quit just as it was on the verge of picking up. But I don't really feel like wasting any more time on it just on the off chance it might finally get better. I have other, better shit to play. I already have Xillia so I'll probably try it at some point. And if I enjoy it maybe I'll go back to Symphonia. But I don't think that's gonna happen any time soon.
  22. Nocturne is fucking great. The last couple days were trying on my patience and sanity because of two dungeons and their absurdly high encounter rates but it's back to being awesome now. Fuck Tales of Symphonia, though. I hope you'll enjoy it more than I did. I just gave up after 20 hours because it was too boring. edit: wait, Nocturne is on sale? Fuck! I bought it less than a week ago... Oh, it's only 2 bucks less. Meh, whatever. I might grab the Digital Devil Saga games, though.
  23. Man, Quantum Break looks pretty sick. I'd prefer Alan Wake 2 but still, here's hoping for a PC version.

They never explicitly said it was TPS, but that was always kinda obvious right? Being Remedy 'n' all.

Yeah, not sure what you expected Ethan. Max Payne and Alan Wake were both TPSs. This was clearly going to be one as well.

And, I mean, I'm with you, I'm sick of them (plain shooters in general, really). But I love Remedy's games, they usually feel very different from your run of the mill bland shooters.

@Kenshi: I don't think they gave a release date, no. Wikipedia only says Q2 2015.

  24. I don't think so. I read about that a little while ago and apparently Sony and Square have had business like this for years, it went both ways. It wasn't just a dick move on Sony's part. http://www.vg247.com/2014/05/13/sony-stock-sale-is-square-enix-returning-a-favour-says-producer/ Besides, it wouldn't account for the lack of a PC version.
  25. I'm not sure if I'm more pissed at Square for being fucking morons or at Microsoft for making the industry worse for gamers. This kind of shitty business practice from MS is a big part of why I'll never own an Xbox. And Square are fucking idiots, I mean, this is a company that sold like 5 million copies of the original and still somehow complained that "it did not meet our sales goals". Actually, scratch that, this kind of borderline brain-dead stupidity is par for the course for Square Enix. Microsoft are basically taking advantage of the retarded kid on the playground, here: "Gimme your lunch money and I'll totally be your best friend!" Probably timed but still very annoying.
