  1. Yeah, I never really got why they didn't bother implementing Move on the PS3 version. I'm pretty sure the port was based off the Wii version and they even patched Move support into RE5 at some point.
  2. ... because I'm waiting for reviews before deciding whether to buy it or not?
  3. Fuck! Turns out review embargo is midnight PST, so 3 more hours to wait. That's fucking retarded, the game just unlocked on Steam. I was hoping to be able to download and play for an hour or two before bed...
  4. Resident Evil 4. It's as great as it's ever been (suck it, Ethan!). The port is generally good as well (it was kind of impossible for it to not be a massive improvement over the previous PC version) but it does have a few major issues. The new HD textures look really nice and shooting for 60 fps was a nice effort on Capcom's part but unless you can run it 100% stable 100% of the time, you're better off playing at 30. Reason for that is, the game was apparently coded strangely and relies on its own framerate to tell time. This has for side-effect that whenever the framerate takes a hit, the game essentially goes into slow-motion. Running the game at 60 and suddenly get a drop to 40? You're running at 40/60 of the normal speed. Their AA has also caused performance issues with some people, which ends up causing said slowdown. It was annoying at first but once I gave up on 60fps and turned AA off entirely it ran smoothly.
  5. Yeah, that GMG deal is pretty sweet. I'm still waiting for reviews because at this point they're only a couple hours away anyway but barring abysmal scores I'll most likely be going for it as well. Mostly because, let's face it, even if the game is short for an RPG (which seems to be the case according to those that got their copies early), it's still the closest we'll get to a new movie for the foreseeable future. I'm willing to pay the day one premium for that experience.
  6. Haven't watched any anime in years and kinda been meaning to get back into it lately. Started watching Attack on Titan last night. Holy fuck, I chose well. That shit is good!

Yeah. It's the most mainstream anime I've seen in ages. No joke it rekindled the interest in anime of many people, even people who haven't watched since DBZ. If you've seen other draggy shonen like Bleach, DBZ and Naruto you'll do just fine.

yeah. blu ray is coming soon and that MIGHT have dubbed option not sure

  7. Doesn't like RE4. Doesn't play Metal Gear. You're doing gaming wrong, Ethan. Also we can't be friends anymore.
  8. I couldn't get into it personally. What I played was good but at some point I got stuck and lost interest. Plus, it seems some of the bosses are balanced for coop so, like Strangelove said, it's a fucking grind when you go at it solo.
  9. Yeah, whoever told you to do that was either fucking with you or is a moron. Don't listen to them again. Better yet: cut them out of your life entirely. They're clearly a terrible influence on you.
  10. Pretty sure I still have my PS3 copy lying around somewhere but for me Disgaea belongs on a handheld. My first experience with the series was the PSP port of the original and it was perfect. My PSP might as well have been a dedicated Disgaea machine. This one should keep me busy until the Vita port of D4 gets localized next summer. I never got around to getting that one on PS3 so I'm really looking forward to it. The pouch was only 10 bucks and I've been thinking of taking my Vita with me to school since I'll soon have a 4 hours hole every single week. Even if I don't end up carrying it with me a lot, at least it'll keep my Vita from gathering dust whenever it goes unused for extended periods of time.
  11. Then again, when you present a very contrarian opinion and fail to elaborate on it beyond "LOL SO BAD GAIZ, AMIRITE?!" it's kind of hard to take seriously. I just figured it was a weak trolling attempt and didn't bother replying any further.
  12. Because it's a great game? Yeah, it's the point where the series took the turn that brought it where it is today (mainly because of how badly the GCN remake bombed) but RE4 still maintained a good balance, I think. I remember quite a few sections being scary or really stressful back when I first played it. And saying they turned it into an escort quest makes me question whether you even finished it. Ashley isn't with you for large chunks of the game and when she is, I'd argue it's one of the few games that does escort mission right.
  13. Resident Evil: Revelations. So, this one was kind of a mixed bag. It starts out pretty great. The first few episodes really feel reminiscent of the good old Resident Evil you know and love, the old school ones. Some light exploration and puzzles, not too much shooting and an actually creepy environment. The Queen Zenobia is probably the best setting the series has had since the original mansion and Raccoon City. Early on, I also really appreciated how the game made an obvious effort to tell a proper story. Problem is, before long a few major issues show up. The enemy variety just isn't there so combat gets really repetitive. There's maybe half a dozen different enemies you'll be fighting for most of the game. It gets old. Then the story starts making you jump from character to character to character and at some point you're just left wondering why you should even give a shit about these guys. I'm kind of a Resident Evil fanboy so it was cool to jump to Chris the first time. But did I really need to play as those other two assholes as well? There's also a bunch of flashback levels that ultimately fail to justify their existence. They just feel like padding. The biggest problem, though, is that this was clearly designed for a handheld system. I'm sure it was one hell of a 3DS game but the jump to HD isn't flattering to most of the game's assets. They obviously reworked the characters a bit because they look decent (although their movement animations are really floaty), but the environmental stuff looks kind of awful. This might seem like a shallow thing to complain about but it ends up making the whole thing feel kind of underwhelming on a big screen. Overall, I'd say it was worth the ~10$ I paid for it. Even though it never really managed to suck me in, I still enjoyed my time with it for the most part. And now that it's over, I'm all set for RE4's unlock on Steam tonight! Somehow, I'm actually more excited about a port of a 10 years old game than I am about most upcoming new releases. Except maybe Dark Souls II.
  14. You can login to imgur? I just upload my shit and copy the links. I don't even know if I ever made an account. Anyway, grabbed a few Vita games from the current sale. Liked the demo but didn't want to pay 15 bucks for it. I really would've preferred physical copies for these as I'm still not sold on being digital only for Vita but shit, it's really hard to argue against 6,75$... And now my 32GB memory card is pretty much full. Gonna have to delete a few things and be more selective about what I keep on it from now on. Oh and also this. Only one of the Ezio trilogy I was missing on Steam and the Gold edition finally hit a low enough price to make me not think twice about hitting that purchase button. I was disappointed with it when it first came out but considering I haven't played any new AC since then (and don't plan on playing III or IV any time soon), I probably won't be as harsh on it when I get around to replaying it.
  15. Fellow Vita owners, how's the Vita version of Rayman Origins? It's pretty cheap on PSN right now but I heard it suffers from some slowdown. How bad is it?

Way higher than I'd be willing to pay after playing Origins. It was fun while it lasted, but I didn't like how many of the "extra" electoons you had to get to even progress later in the game. Quit without beating it.

    3. Strangelove

      Strangelove

I honestly didnt get the big idea about Origins. Its a good platformer, but I thought it was kind of basic. Just no bells and whistles. Nothing really separates it from the rest. I assume the clean colorful graphics had a lot to do with why people liked it so much.

  16. Deus Ex: The Fall coming to Steam. Took long enough but for 10 bucks yeah, I'll bite. Any of you guys played the mobile version? Is it any good?
  17. Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc. Finished the last chapter last night but then there was an Epilogue. Since it was already 4h30 AM, I just turned it off in case the game felt like going for an extra hour or something. You never know with these visual novels... Anyway, the ending was a bit disappointing but overall I really loved the game. I was planning on writing up a more in-depth mini review like I usually do but I barely slept last night because of a bitch of a stomach ache and I still feel like shit right now so that's not happening.
  18. I know it wasn't received all that well but after playing Blacklist back in the fall I was kind of itching for more Tom Clancy and figured this was the best candidate. It was just a matter of waiting for a sale. At 5 bucks, even if I don't like it I won't be too bothered. 2,49$ each. Complete impulse purchase. I remember trying a demo a long time ago and thinking it was alright. I've wanted to get them for a while, just never pulled the trigger until now. Oh and got my pre-order down for this. I'm not done with the first one yet but I fucking love it so I know I'll want this one too. It's not coming out until Fall (Amazon says September) but it was 39,99$ and Canadian retailers have been bumping their prices a bit lately to make up for a weak dollar or some shit, so I figured with Amazon's lower price guarantee I might as well lock that price down while I still could. It's nice to know so early that the sequel is getting localized. Especially after the recent Zero Escape news.
  19. From Levine's message on the official IG website: Sounds like they're going out of their way to help everyone land on their feet.
  20. I'll have to give the demo a shot. I had never even heard of the game (or the original) until yesterday but it looks pretty cool. As for me, there's the new HIB. Mostly got it for Monaco but I also didn't own Giana Sisters. I wasn't really interested in it but whatever. Also, this was on sale for 5 bucks on PSN last week. Grabbed it at the last minute before the store updated. I've wanted to play it for what seems like forever at this point and when I tried playing the PC version I remember having some annoying issues with it. Figured 5 bucks was an acceptable price to circumvent all that. It also made me realize I've kinda been building myself a bit of a PS3 backlog the past couple months. I should probably take note of all I've bought so I can make sure to play everything once I have more free time. Okami being at the top of the list.
  21. Yeah, the more I think about this the more I'm convinced it wasn't Levine's call at all. It might well be true that he wanted to go back to basics and all that jazz. But shutting down the entire studio over it? There's no way in hell he would ever have the power to do that. He might have been the creative force behind Irrational but the studio still belonged to 2K Games and there's no way any sane company would shut down that kind of team unless they had strong financial reasons to do so. A lot of people are suggesting that Infinite failed to meet their expectations and considering the long and troubled development that most likely inflated the budget significantly, I'm inclined to believe that's actually right on the money. With development budgets essentially guaranteed to keep increasing with the new generation, I think there was simply no way IG could keep existing in its current form. Not with their heavy focus on high production values, narrative-driven single-player games.
  22. Defending it in what way? I mean, I'm sure there's more to it that happened behind the scenes and it's more complicated than just him shutting down the entire studio because he felt like a change. 2K/Take-Two must've had something to do with that decision. I mean, if it was just Levine wanting to leave, there's no way they'd let him dissolve such a strong team for no reason. And the fact that Levine is staying under the 2K umbrella kinda fits with that, I think. If he did shut IG down because he just wasn't feeling it anymore, though. That's kind of undefendable.
  23. Man, the more I buy indie games individually, the less interesting HIBs become. Current one has a seriously good line-up but the only two games I don't already own are the two least interesting... At least I don't have to feel bad about only paying 4$, I guess.

Isn't this the second game you mentioned recently whose art style has a physical effect on you? That sounds like it could be a medical condition!

Also, Guacamelee isn't hard so long as you don't play on hard. If you like metroidvanias, then you need to give it a try. NEED TO!

Haha, this one doesn't make me physically uncomfortable like Braid does, I just find it unpleasant to look at.

I haven't bought an Indie bundle in quite some time.

  24. A few too many games, to be honest. I've been playing Resident Evil: Revelations on and off for the past couple weeks. I like it but I'm more than halfway through and it still hasn't really grabbed me. It's very good but it kinda suffers from originally being a handheld game. I was planning on finishing it over the week-end but that didn't happen. I initially started it in anticipation of the new RE4 PC port, though, so I'll definitely make sure to finish it before that comes out. I also decided to try Steamworld Dig after buying it and I ended up playing for 2 hours straight. Very addictive little game. It's like all my favorite parts of Terraria but put into a more guided experience and without all the autistic crap. It's not very long, though, so I think the next time I fire it up I'll be finishing it. But right now Danganronpa is what's been getting all my attention. I'm only on the second chapter's trial but so far I'm really loving it. The Phoenix Wright meets Persona comparison was kind of spot on. It's much easier and more fast-paced than PW and the first trial was painfully obvious once I had gathered all the evidence but the second one just threw a curve ball at me and right now I have no idea where it's going. Fun times!
  25. Saw videos of it when it came out on PC and it looked like something I'd enjoy. I was initially hoping for a Vita version but, of course, now that one's actually been announced, I grab it on sale from the Humble Store. I don't get it either...
