  1. Interesting. This really isn't an acquisition. This seems like the rights to all OnLive properties were sold and the employees were let go. Then, the new company hired a bunch of the people back. Sounds like a way to reduce the workforce and probably give some pay cuts out, essentially, as you "hire" with less pay. At least, that is how I interpret this. So, any idea who the mystery company is?
  2. I have hear they laid off everyone and started "rehiring" people. But, rumors. What do we know really?
  3. It was confirmed that some major shake ups went down at OnLive. Support might not be there for a bit while the new owners get situated. Could be a good thing in the long run, but suck in the now.
  4. In case OnLive really isn't shutting down, this might be good for someone. http://slickdeals.net/f/5062208-Onlive-s-Second-Indie-Weekend-Giveaway
  5. Sorry, but this is the country of the microbrew, and it shall not be stereotyped based on our shitty macro-brews. I think you mean craft breweries, not microbrews? Please explain.
  6. I enjoyed the ceremony, despite NBC. Most of the ceremony was a plus, with two exceptions: Jessie J doing her best to destroy Queen and the outfits the US wore. What's up with the beret? When did we turn French? Oh, well. It was still a blast. Always look on the bright side of life!
  7. I think Rio might even upstage Beijing. Don't forget, those guys know how to party.
  8. I was listening to Ryan speak this morning. I kept thinking to myself: He has way too many opinions for a VP. In addition, his opinions weren't necessarily what the working class want to hear.
  9. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2gZr6w82zAA Swap meets are pretty well known for that.
  10. F.E.A.R 3 for PC download at Green Man Gaming is $3.84. Apply coupon code PCGMR-GREEN-SUMMR and get another $0.76 off. Total is $3.08.
  11. This would be cool if I weren't flat footed and hadn't worked over my knees back in college.
  12. Sorry to hear that, Mister Jack. My sympathies for what your father is going through.
  13. My best bud's stepdad was exposed to Agent Orange (was sprayed while in the jungles). His body was riddled with cancer for years before he died, but he didn't place the blame on the US government. He placed blame on Dow, one of the chemical companies who made the product under direction from the US government. That is why I find it amusing that Dow is one of the companies that has been contracted to do the cleanup. "A lawsuit brought by a group of Vietnamese nationals against US manufacturers was dismissed in 2007." This lawsuit was against 30+ companies that were involved with Agent Orange in some way, Dow being the biggest contributor. Now, Dow has on their website: http://www.dow.com/sustainability/debates/agentorange/ Please notice the part where it says, "The very substantial body of human evidence on Agent Orange establishes that veterans’ illnesses are not caused by Agent Orange." Yes, Agent Orange did nothing, people. Nothing to see here. Let's move on. If it really did nothing, then why be involved in cleaning up the mess? /end rant
  14. This man has incredibly big balls, like fucking grapefruits, to even stay up walking. http://abcnews.go.com/Sports/wireStory/us-runner-finishes-olympic-relay-leg-broken-leg-16969426 "Faith, focus, finish. Faith, focus, finish." Damn.
  15. For those feeling nostalgic, Atari brands brings us Centipede: Origins. It's free on iPhone/iPad today at the iTunes store. Granted, you are only saving $0.99. But, that can still buy you something. Sure, something really, really small and useless. But, something.

He must have ran out of Mountain Dew and Doritos on the first day. Poor kid. Bad parent. Bring more Dew and Doritos next time.

I got dehydrated/heat stroke once... scary as hell. I thought I'd lost my mind or something. Kept getting vague ideas I was trying to do something (wake up!) but couldn't focus or respond to speech. Since then I've been really cautious.

  16. If you play games on your iPhone and like turn based combat, then this is the game for you. http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/100-rogues/id354011870?mt=8&ign-mpt=uo%3D4 100 Rogues is normally $2.99. It's free today. The game is has a smidge of humor and the level maps, though simple, are randomly generated. One life per play. You die, you start over, which makes it a good challenge. There is some paid content within, if you like, but the game is still loads of fun without it.
  17. Sounds like a good plan, though. The host nation should have some competitors for the fans to see. Seeing a home team play is always fun. When most of the college bowl games are played in places where the crowd doesn't care makes those games pretty lame to watch.
  18. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2184558/Kate-Middleton-U-S-Olympic-gymnasts-stunned-Duchess-Cambridge-pays-visit-o2-Arena.html I don't know how she is viewed by people in the UK, but I saw this last night and thought this was great. She is quite friendly with everyone. This is hardly her first visit with random people at the Olympics. Very cool.
  19. I am reading Star Wars: Knight Errant right now. So far, not bad. As with most of John Jackson Miller's writings, he gets the details of the EU minutia right.
  20. Income is income. They will have some more from the endorsements, as well. To offset some of the expenses, they have the expenses they put into gymnastics, which can be used if the taxpayer itemizes their return. If they only make the earnings from the medals, which is what, $15k? Then, they will most likely use the 1040EZ and will most likely pay a smaller percentage than most people earning more would have to pay. Really, someone is just trying to make something out of nothing. Too bad a newspaper has to exploit Olympians to get readership. But, that is how the system works.
  21. I was at a bachelor party with a pretty good group of friends, and one person I hadn't met. It was amazing to me that about all of the guys in the room were driving drunk and got into an accident. The only ones that didn't were me and the stranger (who turned out was a great guy with whom we all bonded that night and died a year or two later from a heart condition). Only one of those guys who wrecked a car while driving drunk had a conviction.
  22. You're being vengeful. Definitely. It's tough to see loved ones suffer, but money isn't punishing anyone. It's just going to make things a mess with courts and lawyers, and no one wins. My decent story: My bro-in-law and wife (dating at the time) were at a stop light at an off ramp up in Fremont when some guy not paying attention to the big red light hit us from behing. I was looking straight ahead and so was my b-i-l, which I shall call Nicky. My wife was looking left at traffic oncoming, so her neck was in pain after this. We went to the emergency room and the place was just about empty. So, they took her back in like 20 minutes. Meanwhile, Nicky and I were moving the waiting room furniture around, for which the staff came and gave us the lecture shit. We laughed, but put everything back and told them they should hire an interior decorater. They allowed us to go back with her, as I think the reception people were annoyed. When we got there, she was lying flat in a neck brace, and her brother was laughing his ass off. "Shut the fuck up, Nick, before I kill you." Nicky then proceeds to get the hospital gloves and blow them up, just in time for the nurse to see. She wasn't amused, but he still tried to make a hit on her. She left, and then he went back to making fun of his sister. Needless to say, that was the shortest time I ever spent at a hospital ER room. It was about an hour, at the most. Lesson: Be annoying and get to leave the hospital early.
