  1. That is the show! Pretty entertaining, plus the historical aspect is always cool. I did hear some names of things that weren't too appetizing. But, maybe those were some appetizing names at some point (spotted dick sounds like a disease, though).
  2. Toad in the hole? The name is a downer compared to the look of it. I watched a show this weekend about 2 people who eat the cuisine of a time period/place, giving their commentary and health conditions along the way. The time frame they did was the time and food of Shakespeare. The food was horrific and super unhealthy. Almost no fruits were consumed. They didn't drink water in the city at that time. So, they had beer with about every meal (including breakfast). It was interesting from a standpoint of health and what was common to the local people at the time. It also reflected on history and how the favorites of the queen were popular with everyone, as well as some of the eating mandates from the queen. Good show, if I could remember the name of it.
  3. http://allrecipes.com/recipe/german-pancake/ My wife made this the other week. It's friggin' good! Not really a pancake, as it's not cooked on a pan, but it shares the name. The pancake is more custard-like in consistency. Also, that syrup recipe is a must for this.
  4. My son is starting T-ball. I am thinking about buying him a Seibu Lions glove like I had when I was a kid.

At least Lucas didn't kill Episode 1 with too much 3D. I thought the 3D was subtle and used wisely, as were a lot of the upgrades for ANH. I'm looking forward to seeing ANH in theaters in 3D, if that happens in a few years.

Many directors (Abel Gance for example) were notorious for editing their films time and time again. It's a wonder J'Accuse exists mostly complete and it's a wonder that we have as much of Napoleon as we do now. I understand as an artist wishing to redo something but Lucas I think is just getting more hate directed towards himself than if he just did a straight re-release of the original print.

  5. The wife had 2 hernias fixed and her appendix removed. She is sleeping on the couch, so no late night gaming marathons. :(

  6. Sure, hospital beds suck. Those roll away beds next to the hospital beds are way fucking worse!

with all the money they take from me, you'd think they would at least not make you feel uncomfortable as fuck

  7. I've got at least 100 hours. Discovered 170+ locations (I read there are 330 locations in total). Most of the undiscovered locations are near Markarth, Markarth being the New Jersey of Skyrim. Running out of things to plunder!
  8. So, revisiting some choices to make within the game. I have 129 missions completed, but only 28 quests completed. I have purposely avoided going through the main quest lines, making sure I do not enter the Skyhaven Temple. But, after doing some more tasks, and having these invitations to join various groups, I will have to join someone eventually. The question is which way do I go? Companions are kind of an easy choice. I hate the Thalmor, so I kill them any time I have a chance. Thoughts? I'm not set in stone as to what I want to do.
  9. 1.04 update downloaded to PS3. I sure hope this pans out!

I don't think I'm touching Skyrim again for a couple of months. I did the same with Oblivion. By the time I touch it again, they better have fixed the most obvious bugs in the game.

I've lived in all three areas... so not a damn was given, much, on who won this. Same for Super Bowl.

  12. So, I finally got around to visiting Dawnstar. That was probably the coolest thing I've done in the last 10 hours of gameplay, even though I could not weild any weapon.
  13. http://gameplaytoday.com/home/news-archive/6797-skyrim-clocks-in-at-10-million Looks like a good milestone. Now, if they can just release that damn 1.4 update. I'm starting to get that PS3 lag happening. It's not had any adverse effect yet, but it might soon.
  14. Got the wife the Kindle Fire for her B-day. She did not complain, so I think I did good. You never really know...

if I got my wife a Kindle (or Nook or iPad or any e-reader) she'd complain. She HATES ebooks. So that's one gadget I will never have to buy. :D

A buddy of mine was small in stature, blonde, and blue eyes. He worked for Tokyo Disneyland being Peter Pan back in our high school days. I remember because he always had money, much more so than anyone else I hung out with.

I hardly had any money :( I was paid minimum wage at $6.75 and worked a total of 9 hours a week. Enough to fill up my gas tank for the car I drove (pictured as my avatar!). Terrible job, they sew you pockets shut when you get you uniform, no joke

  18. Sometimes I think he must have some crossover stuff he must do with Fleshbot.
  19. Possibly, Dean. The open threads have just disappeared. Totilo seems to be making changes that are refocusing the brand on the consumer (maybe I've been in the business world too long). They are minimizing the community postings and, what it seems like, directing traffic to be able to move more towards gaming as the topic. But, there must be a business decision behind this. Losing viewership? Planning to be sold/merged? Maybe it is Totilo's POV as what a gaming website should be, without getting rid of Bash and making further staffing changes that might affect morale too harshly. EDIT: There was a TAY today on Kotaku. I must have missed it this morning.
  20. http://kotaku.com/5875503/introducing-kotaku-core-for-readers-who-only-want-to-know-about-video-games Totilo's first month in charge is proving to be very interesting.
  21. I think the intro is good, but, yes, it did drag on with the character creation. The exciting part is when they are about to behead your character. That's the part which got me. Then, I'm not really able to defend myself, so which way do I go? And, holy crap, can I trust this guy? Now, I have to sneak by this bear? In lots of ways, it works in Skyrim.
  22. Carrying on the next day of that same 24 hour deal, F.E.A.R. 3 is $6.14 at www.greenmangaming.com 18 hours left on this one.
  23. New Games Live On Club Nintendo: Dr. Mario Online (Wii), Dr. Mario Express (3DS), Kirby's Dreamland (3DS), Zelda Majora's Mask (Wii). I'd post in game deals, but the price is 100 to 150 club points

      TCP

Gah! I bought Majora's Mask for actual money a few months ago. Oh well, I'll pick up Kirby's Dreamland.

What I am hoping for is that they release the gold nun-chuck and Classic Controller Pro from the Japanese Club Nintendo. Those would look so good with my Zelda Wii Remote.

  24. I recall in grade school singing songs about King George, whichever George it was we kicked to the curb, losing. It was part of our country's history, yes, but telling us to be rebels from grade school doesn't exactly have a great impact on how we SHOULD behave as adults. Anyway, was that King George regarded as a good king or another Richard The Third? I am curious, as I don't necessarily have a different viewpoint. Questioning the POV in grade school would seriously not be kosher.
