  1. I agree, that grin is horrifying.
  2. At least when it falls as snow, it's manageable. When it falls as rain in temperatures as cold as this, it hits the road surface and instantly turns to black ice. Not fun to get caught in that at high speed.
  3. Not reading anything at present but feeling the temptation to re-read The Hobbit. I've been interested to start getting into the Discworld series but would have no idea where to start. I usually get at least one book over Xmas so I'll probably end up reading that.
  4. It's better than it has been for a few weeks in that it's merely cold and not freezing with Arctic winds, snows and ice. I suppose us in the South West fared better than the likes of the Midlands or London but it was still a royal pain in the arse. From what I can tell though, this reprieve is going to be brief.
  5. I'd love to know why the world fell out with ATB and turn-based combat. I think Pokemon is the only big franchise that sticks to it. It's a shame really.
  6. Loving this place much more than my last proper community. People post here for a start

It feels much sleeker, too. And less filled with hatred and bile.

Oh I didn't mean TAY. I was barely involved there. I meant the one I was part of years ago

  7. I won't ask if anyone else is keeping an eye on this as the question is redundant; we established this in the last, brief forum-skirmish. So I'll say I am very keen to see how it plays and specifically its combat system. At this stage, I think hoping for ATB is a bit futile but we can live in hope. From what I've seen, it looks very polished. Especially so for a Wii title although I guess that's to be expected given its credentials. I look forward to hearing more about it over the next few months.
  8. I never played SSX so I can't comment on this too much but I would be prepared to give EA the benefit of the doubt as far as a series reboot goes. Hot Pursuit shows they're capable of doing it right.
  9. Whatever did happen to Cool Boarders? I remember playing 2 and 3 to death on the original Playstation and then it suddenly seemed to fall out of favour.
  10. Eh, I quite like a wide spread so at any time I'll visit Kotaku, Dtoid and Eurogamer. Twitter is pretty nifty in so far as being on the pulse with snippets of info you can look into elsewhere. Really not a fan of Giant Bomb, however. I get the impression they're extremely unrefined and don't even know quite what they want to be. It's almost as if when asked what they are, they answered "Gaming site!" and tried to become all that encompasses, ie. journalistic site, reviewers, cheat site, blogging, wiki, etc. It's just too much. And it's design is a bit to 90's for me; yellow and white text on a pure black background? No thanks.
  11. I still have mine kicking around though it isn't currently hooked up, but that's only because I'm too lazy to take the TV off the wall to connect it. I never bothered with the internet connectivity back in the day but I it's library was excellent. Sonic Adventure 1 and 2, ChuChu Rocket, etc. Never did play Shenmue though.
  12. Agreed. Flow and Flower were fantastic games, especially the latter and what really sells the games to me is their beautiful score. It sounds like Journey is going to be no different so I look forward to seeing what it brings to the table.
  13. 1. Bayonetta 2. Vanquish 3. NFS: Hot Pursuit
  14. Figure I'll give Hot Pursuit a good going over today. Don't think I'll end up getting the Plat. which I initially hoped I could go for but I figure I can tackle most of the game. Will probably go back to Vanquish after that and give that the attention it deserves. Currently made it to Chapter 2 and have no idea what the hell is going on.
  15. The way some people look after their things is pretty poor. You can usually tell by the way they describe it. Basically, never buy things from people who refer to their belongings as 'my shit'.
  16. Welcome frog! I like FPS' but I apparently don't have the eyes or awareness for them, even with my glasses on. My brother can be watching me play and shout and scream in exasperation as I repeatedly get killed by a player I haven't seen but he saw instantly. He swears I do it on purpose.
  17. This is why I never buy second hand anymore after the first time. I bought what was supposed to a 'good condition' copy of Smash Bros Melee off ebay and I was appalled. The state of the case and insert alone was bad enough and disc had a huge scratch on it. Sure, it still played but it looked awful and given I hate having stickers on my cases, it was just too much.
  18. I too never played this game but that 8 point description makes me want to, despite no longer owning a PS2 and I'll be damned if I'm buying another one now.
  19. My my, isn't this fun?

I daresay lemony-fresh, but lemons are bitter and sour and we wouldn't want that here would we? =p

  20. Because it will inevitably pop-up sooner or later, might as well get it rolling now. I assume linking to the Youtube equivalent is still permitted.
  21. I thought about this primarily with games in mind but really it can apply to anything. How do you to prefer buying things; new, second hand or just don't care? Personally, it has to be brand new every time unless the scarcity forces me to go second hand. I like to know the item I have is in mint condition and has only been touched by my hands. The obvious exception being larger things, like a car.
  22. Zenonia and Vanquish. I'm playing more of the former predominately because I can play it when I'm at work or on the bog.
  23. I've yet to see it. Will probably pick up the blu ray after Xmas to see if it's as good as the hype makes it out to be. I'll stick by my last suggestion and say Shawshank Redemption.
  24. Really liking this game and is perhaps the best driving game I've played in a long time. The freedrive mode feels a like phoned-in and could've done with some fleshing out, not a fan of the rubberbanding and I've got to a point where the game is starting to kick my ass but I still love it. The online I've had more fun with than I have most other games this year. Hot Pursuit mode is excellent fun, especially as a cop. Looking forward to seeing how well they continue to support it, given Shift 2 is on it's way. I'd like to think it'll get the Burnout Paradise kind of treatment but we'll see...
  25. I'm hugely insulted. How dare you. Moving on...I'm Wayne. 22, looking to purchase my first property, working in a shit job and working towards becoming a freelance writer like everyone else and their dog.
