Yeah Xbox Fanboys are gonna use that DRM news as ammo but the reality is quite different. Microsoft has their own DRM in place in their console with the no trading and online connectivity issue. Sony has no forced online. That means that third party developers, unless the game is strictly multiplayer, can't FORCE you to have some form of internet-DRM to play the singleplayer. Imagine the shitstorm if you pop in a game in a console where offline is an option and it tells you "To play this game you need to log in and input your key". That works with multiplayer games. EA already dropped online passes so I think they're betting their chickens on the Xbox One bringing in enough new game revenue to account for 'losses' the PS4 will bring. But if the PS4 does end up selling more or about the same they can't just drop support. Ubisoft shouldn't have an issue as they haven't dropped their online pass system, and Activision never truly got past it and might just keep up the season pass system which makes them bucketloads.
What I'm saying I guess is the same as Cowboy. This is no different than what is currently in store with PS3 and 360. EA/Ubisoft/Activision know the console isn't forced to use online so they can't force full-game DRM. Indie developers are getting a boost in the PS4. And w/ Sony allowing first party titles to be used as people want, if these publishers decided to not allow trading of used games when other publishers and Sony allow it they'd get SO much negative attention. Sony handed them a loaded revolver and everybody else on the table passed on trying to shoot themselves. The publisher can choose to take the risk and fuck over consumers and get their brains blown or not participate as well and make slightly less money. I can't think of a single publisher that would willingly fuck themselves over so basically I can assure it's no DRM and being able to trade games for the most part.
