  1. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I63kqpPpsn4 Back in the glory days, they knew exactly how long to carry a joke. I grew up watching The Simpsons almost almost day back in the 90s growing up. It always showed 2 episodes a night from seasons 4-6, then 4-9 as the years went on. Growing up watching the greatest seasons of that show made me unable to settle for anything less, so when things from season 9 onward started airing around 2000/2001, I kinda just gave up on it. At least it had a good run when it did. Too many episodes to quote.
  2. I only have rumors to work with, but most are agreeing that it uses a Power7 architecture. Still no word on specifics, obviously, but even the lowest range of that architecture seems to be able to match or outperform the PS3's and 360's current clock rate and is able to supply more memory per core than either the PS3 or 360, both of which have to share its memory between cores. Plus, having an L3 cache certainly is nifty. And dat multi-threading...
  3. http://www.nintendow....com/news/26618 http://www.engadget....nintendo-wii-u/ http://www.engadget....ful-than-ps3-a/ Yeah, it has Watson's mind. Prepare to lose at Jeopardy. Still vague overall, but it's something. **Edit() comin' at ya** A bit more research hasn't yielded anything additional besides some very, VERY technical details and comparisons. But instead of me explaining, I'll have this guy do it for me. I managed to find this video while digging up some data. Seems to have come to similar conclusions, but he goes into further detail, as stated, comparing it to the 360's and PS3's current hardware. Be advised that things get technical here.
  4. I've been reading a lot of those claims where the Wii U doesn't performed as well as the PS3 or 360, which really doesn't make sense according to the confirmed(?) hardware in place. Of course, the hardware is always subject to change, but based on a few confirmations, the Wii U will be using a Power7 architecture CPU and a GPU of the Radeon HD R700 architecture, and both of those overpower anything that the 360 or PS3 has in place. However, I can't exactly speak for the ease of coding, obviously. Still, there are too many unknowns to trust the rumors right now, but the claims of it using inferior hardware of current gen consoles seems a bit illogical to me. 16 threads of simultaneous code, yo.
  5. Ha! So, for those of you who grew up here in the U.S. in the 90s and with access to Cartoon Network, you should know what Toonami is. Well, it's temporarily back on Adult Swim showing some old anime. Oh, the nostalgia of it all...

Holy crap, CN is just trolling too much with this...

I'd argue this is down right mean since so many people want to see the return of Toonami.

I saw Cowboy Bebop and prepared for good times right now. THEN BIG-O WAS PLAYING. FUCK YOU, TV GUIDE. YOU HAD TO MAKE ME WATCH THAT BULLSHIT FOR SIX SECONDS.

  6. Not really. The stories are usually able to stand on its own, and the connections between 1 and 2 to 3 and 4 are very vague that you needn't bother. They seem like easter eggs more than anything, honestly. Plus, they play nothing like Persona 3 or 4, and not really in a good way...
  7. http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/165970/Giant_Bomb_team_returning_to_CBS_Interactive_after_site_purchase.php - I know some folks here are followers of the site, so...what do you think...?

On the livestream, they made it clear that they're keeping creative control, so I'm fine with it. In fact, this will give them bigger, better resources, and Alex Navarro will be a full-time staff member for the site again!

Plus, Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman (think that's how it's spelled) will be joining Tested.com. The only site that might be going under is Screened, which would be a real shame, but the rest of them seem to be headed for good times a'plenty.

Well, John Davison is with Gamespot now, and I'd trust his word on games. It's possible they learned from "Gerstmanngate", assuming they were really as shady as accused to begin with.

Totally didn't catch this before I posted the other status. Oops. 0_o

I'm personally sort of curious to hear the full Gerstmanngate story, actually. They said they'd spill it now.

Other than that, I'm optimistic, I guess. If they keep doing the quick looks and bombcast the way they've been going now, I probably won't even really notice. I never really went to Giantbomb for the reviews or writing anyway, mostly just for the podcast and quick looks.

  8. I found sesame seeds on my foot. Seeing as I haven't eaten anything containing sesame seeds in months, the only logical conclusion is that I am, in fact, made of sesame. If only I knew...

They're potato seeds, not sesame. KNOW YOUR VEGGIES.

      TheRevanchist

Did you taste them and confirm they are sesame seeds? I need some proof before I believe they were not some kind of top-of-the-foot fungus.

Sesame and then fungus. Hmm well so long as you don't turn into this --> http://www.hemmy.net/images/bizarre/treeman04.jpg your life's going to be fine.

  11. I gotta say, I am enjoying the hell out of Mario Kart 7. Odd, since I found MK Wii to be pretty disappointing and little has changed between both games. Oh well, I won't question it.

  14. That pretty much sums it up. An average American won't know what or where Yorkshire is. We tend to stick to places we know, so London is going to be the U.K.'s tourism spot since it's common knowledge. It's strange though. If an American travels internationally to visit an amusement park, it might seem insane to us. Then again, I don't see many countries advertising local amusement parks for international tourism. And the damn New York tourists... For the love of god, don't stop in the middle of the damn sidewalk to check the contents of your purse. There are 70 other people trying to squeeze by, we're not going to wait patiently for you.
  15. *sigh* Been feeling pretty stressed out and somewhat depressed recently. It tends to happen only at night, but it's now a concern...I'll just blame school. I should probably refocus on classwork...

Sorry to hear that, wish there was some advice I could give you. Hope you feel better

  16. Strangely, I seem to be functioning better today after getting only 4 hours of sleep as opposed to Friday, when I had a full 6 hours in. Yes, I am a weird one, and yes, while I'm functioning better, I can't say that my physical self is enjoying it all too much. I'll just shut it up with some coffee. And the college network is surprisingly stable! Who'da thunkin'?

    1. Enervation

      Enervation

I'm almost the same here. Only 4 hours of sleep, not to mention my feet are absolutely destroyed from walking to work (I've got tons of blisters on them now). Why do I feel so neutral.

  17. Very well said. Focusing too much on "intelligent debate" is a nice from topic time to time, but making it the only topic can make things a bit exhausting and stressful, and no one wants to listen to a stressed out debate over something discussed by who knows how many people. Stay casual, stress free. It'll be a lot more fun to participate in and listen to. Well, that's what I think at least. What the hell do I know?
  18. Yup, everything's set. Gold is go and my router has an open NAT, so no worries on connection loss. I'm not sure how available I'll be on Friday, since I arrive home from class late in the afternoon, and there's a strong possibility that my brother will be playing something during the rest of the night. But I'll be available all day Saturday and Sunday. I'll send a friend request when I log on next time.
  19. Meh, I got time during the weekend, and my time zone is -5:00. If you need me, I'm in. Haven't touched the game in a while, nor have I played an online xbox game in...years? I'm sure I'll pick up quick enough though. Of course, if you already have a 4th man, then by all means go right on ahead without me, I got plenty of games to occupy myself with. Let me know.
  20. Rough week. Too many classes, too many exams, not enough sleep. It would have been forgivable if that was it, but then my PS2's laser decides to overdo things and burn my copy of Persona 4. Needless to say, there's a lot of rage slowly building and none of the nearby game shops are selling it on the cheap...I can already tell how my weekend will turn out...

  21. I've had the lyrics and melody of "We Want the Funk" in my mind for weeks now. I'm not even a fan of that damn song! It's not going away, make it stop!

  22. That was the most confusing day of my life. It was the 2nd or 3rd day of school, can't remember the specifics. The first week at my new school and the 6th grade and I was 11, everything's confusing. Anyway, during lunch, I was just waiting in line for some my sandwich, until a lunch lady runs over and loudly whispers, "The North Tower just got hit." I had no idea what they were talking about, so I paid it no mind. The rest of the day was so backwards, all the classes were scattered and all the teachers looked frantic. Not only that, dozens of kids were being called to go home. At the end of the day, there was still some panic, but I still paid it no mind. I met up with my brother, who said he was having a similar day. We waited by the bus stop nearby, like we always did, and noticed that not only were the buses not stopping for us, but each one was completely packed to the point where fitting another human was an impossibility. We gave up on waiting, so we walked home. I noticed some smoke off in the distance where Manhattan was, but again, I paid it no mind. We lived too far to be considered walking distance, but not far enough that it was in range of a close enough subway station, which I could only imagine was also packed. Another weird moment was that there was a hospital on the route home.It normally gets tiny traffic, but that too was overflowing. Doctors and nurses were scattered every trying to get patients in and mobilizing ambulances. But then the weirdest thing happened soon afterward: The streets were completely empty when we got closer to home. Never happened before, or since. When I got home, I only saw my sister leaning toward the radio. All the TV channels were scrambled, for obvious reasons, and only the radio was transmitting anything. That's when she explained what happened, and it still made no sense to me. I honestly didn't know what to think. I still don't know what to think, it all seemed too surreal to happen. So, we waited home until my parents arrived, then spent a very awkward, very terrifying night in silence. We had the day off from school the day after. The day after that, we had to return, but my parents weren't able to drop my brother or I, so my sister walked us. The buses were still packed, and there were a lot of crossing guards everywhere, even outside our apartment building. Still, the very worst part of it all was the smell. For the entirety of that day, all we smelled was ash and smoke outside in the streets. A week later, was when we saw images of what happened. I kind of wished the reception would have never cleared. Those images and that damned smell will haunt me forever.
  23. Ahh, just got reminded of a sweet memory after searching through storage. Got an Atari 2600 in its box (old, torn box, but original one mind you) as a graduation and farewell gift from my neighbor from a few years ago. One of those sweet old lady types, she loved our family. I first saw it in her garage once and thought it was awesome. It belonged to her grandson who loved it, but he passed away at a young age. When she found out how much I loved games, she just thought it would make a nice g...

That's a touching story. Write it down on a piece of paper an put it inside the box. That is a story the next owner may share and enjoy.

  24. Was coasting through a few programming assignments like they were nothing earlier today. That was until I reached an annoyingly complicated code instruction that's been kicking my ass for the last day. Weird, it's pretty basic, but the way the instructions are written and how I need to code to manage the input data and what to output. Man, I need a break. Can't be expecting too high of a grade for this one...

      Pirandello

As a CS major myself, I can understand the pain.

Also, do come to expect that getting a high grade on a programming assignment is damn well near impossible unless it's a literal cakewalk.

Just make sure you understand the concepts in time for the final and you'll be fine.

  25. Two in mind for now. Metroid Prime - First played it when I was 12, loved every second. Got the GC version to own when I was 18 and the Wii version (Trilogy) a few years ago. Then there's, Yoshi's Island - Played it as a rental for ONE night when I was 6, never touched it again until I was 14. Remembered Every. Little. Detail of those first few levels and it was exactly the same when I picked it up again. Ah, that melody. I go back to it when I find myself with some free time and when I'm bored with my game library.
