  2. Rage is $20 at Best Buy but you can buy their @Gamer magazine in the store for $5 and use the $15 off coupon for rage to get it for $10. So the question is: Is Rage even worth $10?
  3. How did I miss that 4 years ago? That's gold. Edit: Also, isn't it pretty well documented how faulty human memory is? Lots of cases of eye witness testimony being wrong in trial law and the whole "remember where you were when you heard JFK was shot" instances of people remembering things totally wrong. You don't have to be lying to have a bad memory.
  4. I do wonder how the passive 3D affects it. Do the scanlines on passive bug you? I've tried those passive LG screens at the electronics stores and the scanlines bug the crap out of me.
  5. Yeah, it seems to me that if the jaggies are really bad your eyes are trying to match them up and failing and they kind of freak out about it. My friend has a 3D TV and we were checking out stuff like that. Halo and Assassin's Creed Revelations looked much better in 3D and strangely, on average, the Xbox 360 looks better in 3D. I'm not really sure why that is. He has a Panasonic plasma 3D TV that's active 3D. I really want to jump into the 3D thing but I'm probably going to do it on the PC side because then I can control the graphic settings.

  7. You've got 3D? My friend had this in 3D and what really bugs me about it is the total lack of antialiasing. Aliasing bothers your eyes in 2D and when you have two eyes looking at two separately aliased images simultaneously it's awful. Hopefully if they continue the push on 3D they'll learn to use some heavy AA.
  8. I started reading the first Witcher book again. Every time I do I forget why I stopped.

  9. Yeah, I know people who have them, (low income day workers are cheap in Texas I guess). A lot of wealthier families have them to do the major cleaning like vacuuming, dusting bathrooms, laundry etc.

  11. I would hate being a stay at home dad. My wife stays at home with our kid, soon to be kids. She's always wanted to do that so she stopped going to college and worked to put me through college, I worked too though. I do agree that it's funny that some women go back to work and by going back to work they barely make enough to cover the child care and house keepers that they have to hire instead. I find that strange. Some women make a lot of money though and sometimes I think society is almost to the point where it's very difficult to live on one income. I make decent money but we still have two old cars and a very modest home. It's tough not to be jealous of other people who make more money because they have dual incomes but I am happy that my wife is home investing in our daughter and I think that pays its own dividends.
  12. I had a government teacher who's required text was the New York Times and she'd spend entire class periods going on about what an amazing and wonderful publication it was and how we were all Luddites if we didn't read it. I had a history professor who blamed everything on sexism or racism and the more you wrote about sexism or racism in your essays the higher your grade would be. Assigned reading in that class were such fair and balanced books as "Fast Food Nation". Oh and this is a public university in Texas. Ugh, Yeah, I know a ton of people who got 4 year degrees in english or psychology or something else and never did anything with them and now they are either elementary school teachers or pursuing music or something. That's fine if that's your goal but if you want to make money and get ahead I know other people who just went to work with their tools as an electrician and make tons of money and don't have any school debt to speak of. I'd say sometimes we put too much value on a college degree.
  13. oh, it got rejected from XBLA. http://forum.teamxbox.com/showthread.php?t=573870
  14. Well, again, it depends on the game but I can see people wanting to play MGS for the in depth story but not have to be all sneaky and avoid getting killed all the time.
  15. The problem with diesel is that it's a byproduct. You can't use a whole barrel of oil to make diesel. You can use a large % for unleaded fuels, some of it gets used for other things and another % gets used for diesel fuel but you can't just switch the whole barrel of crude oil over and say that everyone should use diesel cars.
  16. I thought that was on XBLA arcade now.
  17. There have been numerous times where I've abandoned games because of difficulty spikes. Dragon Age is the most recent one I can think of. I actually tried to get around it with cheat codes before I gave up.
  18. Well, with wind your upkeep is keeping your machines maintained and since they're spread out over a large area and not easily accessible it's kind of a pain. There was even a dirty jobs where they went out with wind turbine cleaners. It was pretty interesting. I'm not really sure how much you can dual purpose the land, I think you have to keep it clear of a lot of things but farming sounds like something you could do. The other problem with wind generation is the location is usually far away from your population and it takes a considerable length of distribution lines to link all of the turbines together and then to transport it back to your population and there's maintenance associated with that. Also you have losses over the length of that distribution but I don't think it's considerable. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder though and not everyone thinks wind turbines are pretty. Anywho, on my rant, conventional energy is considerably cheaper, and with the price of natural gas plummeting it's getting even cheaper.
  19. I think you're reading the operating costs wrong. The variable costs which are for things like fuel are 0 since you don't use fuel for renewable energy sources. The actual regular operating costs for things like solar are higher due to cleaning and other issues. Wind seems to be on par with operating costs. I'm fairly certain though if you're talking square mile ratio you're going to get exponentially more energy out of a coal mine than a wind field. Also, hydroelectric is great if you can get the land to make a lake and get the permits to change the environment. Also I believe the initial investment is quite steep.
  20. yeah, the UMD passport shouldn't even matter, they just need to get on dropping PSP games in the PSN down to $10.
  21. I got the impression it wasn't very popular.
  22. Yeah, I don't think there are preorders up for Last Story yet but I'll probably get that one too. I'm a sucker for Sakaguchi's games and I even enjoyed Lost Odyssey.
  23. It's very hard to tell if it's worth it. I thought the Fable 2 content would be worth it but after I got it I was disappointed. Seems like most DLC leaves me feeling underwhelmed personally.
