  1. Hmm, this brings a whole new meaning to 'knick knack paddywhack, give a dog a bone'
  2. Damn, that new episode of Sherlock really was rather good.

  3. *shit aboot them Hacking might take a little getting used to, but a lot of it is still up to chance no matter how high your hacking skill. That was probably where I most abused quicksave/load.
  4. First-person was kept to please fans of the original game. I'm pretty crappy at stealth, and it does make it tough for an all-out shooter, but I had the advantage of Quicksave/load on PC. Although, once I had the cloak I could sneak through most areas never using more than one energy bar at a time (just takes a lot of time and patience though). Only on two occasions did I need two consecutively, and I have a screenshot from right near the end of the game that shows I only ever had two energy bars. I was pretty pleased with that.
  5. So, games beaten in 2011: Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, LittleBigPlanet 2, L.A. Noire, inFAMOUS 2, The Witcher 2, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, EDF: Insect Armageddon, Gears of War 3, Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, Bastion, Uncharted 3, Arkham City, Sonic Generations. Feels like I'm missing something, though I'm probably not.
  6. It is 'bag of yokes', but sounds like 'yorks' because of the Irish accent.
  7. Had heard about it. Had to see it for myself. It's alright.
  8. It's the meme the internet deserves, but not the one it needs right now.
  9. The Frighteners I'd caught this many years ago on TV and remembered thinking it was really good. Watching it now, I can see it has a lot of problems in some respects but it is a highly-entertaining and goofy film. And it's got a little bit of Peter Jackson's old ridiculous violence thrown in. The best part is one character's head being blown clean off but their ghost has already appeared so the head is still technically 'there', albeit with a physical, bloody, gushing neck below it.
  10. The only bit in Uncharted 2 that I felt lagged, was the monastery section.
  11. Even as a percentage, I've got to wonder what they'd pay you.
  12. Yeah. Little wings pop out of it when you glide.
  13. Bought Capsized because it was £1.50 and I know P4 said it was really good. EDIT: and Puzzle Agent because it was 99p ...and Trine because it was 69p
  14. Hey, I'm 'in' a Kotaku article. Cool, I guess. http://kotaku.com/5872163/the-best-game-music-of-2011-readers-choice

What's a Kotaku? Seriously though, I can't open it. The last time I went to Kotaku on this computer, the redirect URL thing still worked for the old site format. I just get the logo, a few lines and a lot of white. Doesn't work any more, I guess.

  15. Bought The Binding of Isaac because it was 99p. And I bought Saints Row: The Third because I've seen it making loads of people's top ten lists and such, and it was £10 on PC (although, kinda wish I'd caught the buzz when that £15 inc. season pass thing was going).
  16. Hmm, Trumpton was more my mum's generation so I don't know too much about it. I know people speak rather highly of anything Oliver Postgate did. That's considered real gold standard British kids' TV if you're looking for it.
  17. I'm one of 'those people' who prefers older Muse stuff.
  18. Also, did America ever have TV shows based off professions, like the above? Because we had... ...and, more recently, I believe Bob the Builder made it over to the US.
  19. OK, so, now, I can comment on Justin McElroy's 'review' of Nier: What an idiot XD

Is that the one where he was fishing at the wrong beach and couldn't actually do a review? I got to the part, don't know how he made that mistake. I don't understand why you wouldn't talk to other people in the industry who are also reviewing the game? Or call the publisher's PR people, I've heard other reviewers in the past say that's a possibility if you're stuck and doing a pre-release review.

For Stenshi: http://www.joystiq.com/2010/05/03/nier-review-fail/ And, yeah, why was he not paying attention to the red X that has been pointing him everywhere for every main objective? He had been fishing for over an hour and never even considered he was in the wrong place? Such a fool.

  20. Hmm, it's been a while since I've seen it but I can't say the first half of In Bruges bothered me. I mean, it conveyed the tone and mood anyway and Brendan Gleeson is always fantastic. It does get a little ridiculous and you can kinda guess how silly the ending is going to be but it's still very entertaining.
  21. Cold Souls This is a tough one. I want to say it's 'good' but it left me, well...cold. It has a neat idea and some good performances but it feels a little underdeveloped. I found David Straitharn's character a little ill-defined and there didn't seem to be much to it. Sometimes, that can work, but it didn't feel that way for me here. Still, it is funny and moving enough, so I'd recommend checking it out.

The more you get into the world the better. All those symbols and runes are actually a language created by the developers and in fact mean something. It's a game with surprising depth in the story world.
