Last night in the political debate, GOP candidate Rick Perry was listing the three departments his budget plan would cut, and he forgot the third one and just stood there stammering and finished with an eloquent, "Oops!" Funny, because there are hardly any fiscally conservative candidates out there at all, other than third party candidates. In my eyes it's liberal spenders and liberal spenders lite. I suppose that depends on where you're standing or what issues you're talking about though.

Early couple of missions are far too linear and on-rails, but overall level design is quite nice.

Yeah, I mean, I couldn't tell you the difference between FIFA 2005 and 2012, but I'm sure series fans could. And just because a core game is relatively static doesn't mean the update isn't worth it for those who follow the franchise. For what it's worth, there are two particular missions in the singleplayer that are easily the best and most inventive in the series since Red Square in COD1.

It's absolutely the most asinine thing Ethan. If it's set to anything other than "Native", it basically plays in upscaled 540p.

For argument's sake though, Angry Birds and Cut the Rope are free or a dollar each. The big issue is that many gamers are on tight budgets, and $60 is a lot of money if the game is in fact just a rehash. I don't personally see it as such, but there it is.

Are you still having issues? I turned off Extra textures and set Image Quality to Native, turned off that Ambient Occlusion thing or whatever it was called. I did get one more crash actually now that I think about it, but before I couldn't even start the campaign.

Yeah, it could be a symptom I suppose. And I think it's pretty well acknowledged that the tech and some assets are being re-used, making the game essentially a new single-player campaign, balancing, and new mutliplayer maps and modes. Then again that's probably what most COD fans want.

I've seen those screens floating around, but I'm skeptical. Mine says Modern Warfare 3. But if it's not being overdone and it fits the aesthetic of the level, what's the issue? Valve does this all the time. Just feel as if people are looking for things to pick on. Good to know. Honestly the FOV was the biggest issue after I got the thing to stop crashing. Running smooth now.

That building thing is a total non-issue. You see it for about 10 seconds total. Anyway, campaign is Call of Duty alright, big and loud. The guns feel nice, definitely a COD4 vibe. I am enjoying the campaign, though it's going to be over quicker than the $29.99 Hard Reset was. The game is buggy for the PC: lag was pretty bad in 2 player spec-ops with a buddy of mine, and the FOV is horrendous. Really need a fix for that soon. There is also a setting called "Image Quality" that if enabled makes the game look like it's 540p upscaled to your resolution. Game crashed about 10 times before I could get past the opening cutscene, fiddled with some settings and it stopped fortunately. There are two ways of handling this game. Play it on the original XBox with minor glitches and an incomplete story. Or, play with settings and drivers for days, install the mods to complete the game, and hope it doesn't crash on you. The Obsidian message boards are filled with crap about how technically difficult this game is to play.

Finally beat DKCR after about 20 attempts on the final boss. Still need to unlock the Golden Temple, but pretty awesome game nonetheless.
