*shrug* Maybe he didn't like it. Of course, he might not have graduated the third grade, either.

It's just funny... Skyrim is renowned for its size and exploration, so to quit an hour in seems silly.

That is what I thought. Can't play a game that huge for an hour and make a sane judgement.

  1. Not sure if this has been mentioned, and a quick search yielded nothing, and I'm not manually looking at 44 pages: I have never heard anyone in the US refer to mail as post. We have post offices and postmen and postage stamps, but we say, "Mail's here" not "Post's here". "Going to check the mail" not "checking the post". Harry Potter indicates you people say post.
  2. Too much gaming going on right now from Christmas gifts. Whittling away at the following: Skyward Sword The Witcher 2 Monster Hunter Tri Recettear an Item Shop's Tale Bastion All are superb so far. Haven't even bothered to open Skyrim yet.
  3. You should have bought the Humble Bundle; it comes with And Yet it Moves + 11 other games if you pay over $5.35
  4. I'll work out a trade for your CyanWorlds coupon if you're interested. May pick one up when I get paid next month. EDIT: And now have a copy of AI War Fleet Command up for trade. Got rid of it.
  5. Remember that today is the deadline for gifting; if you're unable to fulfill your part for any reason, financial or otherwise, let me know. Also, if you don't receive your gift by tomorrow morning, send me a PM or hit me up on Steam and I'll get it sorted. Also, go ahead and talk about your giftee/gifting here, and please make suggestions for next year's exchange. Merry Christmas and happy holidays to all. --- I want to thank Saturnine for his generosity; he gifted me The Witcher 2 and Bastion, which pretty much blew me away. Thanks ST!
  6. Hard Reset is too much at full price, but at today's price it's perfect.

I see where Johnny's coming from; it's not actually an old school shooter in any sense. But if you drop that standard it's still quite enjoyable.

Lol. I just earned this game from the Steam thing. That price is best.

    4. MasterDex

      MasterDex

It's an old school shooter in the sense that the enemies are varied and patterned, the weapons go beyond machine gun no.4 and the aiming feels right but that's about it. It's a fun game nonetheless

  7. Torn between organizing my Steam wishlist accurately 1-10 and putting the priciest games 1-5 for the contest...

      toxicitizen

My top 5 is mostly priciests and unreleased games. My number one literally shows up as "Unreleased Title".

    2. TheMightyEthan

      TheMightyEthan

My top 5 are the ones I would actually want to win the most, so it's kind of a combination of which ones I want the most and which cost the most.

  8. I'll take HL2 off your hands for some coal or something. Would be a nice gift for a friend. Or hold out til I get something nicer. http://steamcommunity.com/id/p4warrior/inventory#753
  9. Closest thread I found quickly for tech support, so here goes: My old Core 2 Duo system died about 3 months ago. I turn it on and it whirs up and everything, all lights, sounds like drives are on, but no video out. 20 seconds later it shuts off. So I replaced the 600W PSU with a spare 500W I had, figuring the old one may have burnt out. With the 500W, I do get video out, but the system dies about 30-40 seconds in during the Windows startup process. Any ideas? It's an old system so I'm thinking of just building a new one anyway, but if I can salvage it that'd be nice as well.
  10. Thanks WTF, just got it. I just did Temple HQ and it dropped in New Eden randomly.
  11. Anyone get the EYE achievement yet? Can't figure out what to do.
  12. So got about 3 hours into The Witcher 2, loving it so far. Sadly I have to run it at 1280x800 or so with AA to eliminate stuttering, but my new PC build should be finished in a month or so and I'll get to crank it up for a second playthrough. A few thoughts early on: Combat is great but haven't died yet (normal difficulty). I think they did smooth out the difficulty curve some complained about if I remember right. Graphics are gorgeous Improves on TW1 in just about every way I don't like the small QTE sequences for brawls/the dragon part Game has one of the best opening chapters in recent memory.
  13. The Witcher 2 is faaaantastic. Thanks, Saturnine

Play Roche's route first, then go with the Scoia'tael your second playthrough, because I think the Scoia'tael route is superior to Roche's.

    3. Hot Heart

      Hot Heart

I say go with whatever...but I think it's pretty cool to do Roche's and then Iorveth because of what information you learn from each.

      Game of the Year! ;P

  14. Hey Redditors vote in the r/Games contest... I won't tell you to vote for me but if you likey then don't be shy!

  15. The best part about Portal 2's soundtrack is how dynamic it was, with faster and louder beats pumping as you launched toward the solution of the puzzle.
  16. Ah yes the ol' White Elephant game. Things can get pretty hilarious with 40-year-old men fighting over secondhand presents out of someone's garage. Another thing that's popular nowadays is the "ugly Christmas sweater party"; unsure if that's NA only too.
  17. Really, anything off Jamestown. Portal 2 soundtrack too, which is free: http://www.thinkwith...s.com/music.php
  18. Bumped into Dean at Reddit today. Felt like seeing a teacher at the supermarket or something

I frequent almost all of the gaming subreddits: r/gaming, r/Games, r/gamernews, r/truegaming, and the likes. I also follow specific game subreddits like r/skyrim.

Otherwise, when I'm bored, r/all is there for perusal.

r/funny is the best... as long as you don't read the comments. The comments will make your brain bleed.

  19. Yeah, not that anyone's going to freak out if someone finds out about your giftee or whatever but I'll edit the post to encourage discussion over the outcome, suggestions for next year, etc.
  20. We'll just call it the deadline and at that point we'll open up forum discussion as to what you were able to get/give this year.
  21. Yeah, in fact, in the future it may work better as more of a deadline so people don't have to hold off. "Gift before the 24th" or something like that for next year. If you want to this year that's fine too. Chewie asked me specifically on that one because he's going away for the holidays.
  22. Either way for me, love both. Sometimes indies are easier to play with my limited gaming time; but other times a AAA title scratches the itch.
