The Fantastic Four are apparently in the mid-credits sequence. At least according to a dream I had.

I'm mostly excited to run the OS and a few select games off the SSD. Once I get this in my hot little hands, I'll have to figure out if I can install Steam games on multiple hard drives on a single machine.

Got myself a Sager NP8268-S laptop with these specs: Intel Core i7-4710MQ (2.5 GHz - 3.5 Ghz, 6MB cache) GTX 970m 6.0 GB 8GB RAM 15.6 1080p screen 128GB Micron M600 mSATA SSD 1TB 7200 rpm HDD Windows 8.1 backlit keyboard No obnoxious gaming laptop branding Witcher 3 code included with the GTX 970m Unlike my previous laptops, this one has user-upgradeable drives. In particular, I may upgrade the SSD at some point.

Canavero has been around for a while. I remember a few years back when he announced is plans to do a head transplant procedure by 2018 or something. I would not be surprised at all if Kojima and Co. intended to use his likeness.

So Telltale is teaming up with Marvel to make Marvel video games. Good for Telltale; I'm happy to see such a scrappy company that makes fun games be successful.

That sounds like a lot of work, though. Like, a lot. Just put Wolverine in the Telltale Tool real quick and all the nerds will love it.

Edge of Tomorrow is goddamned fantastic, you philistines.

Personally, I like the Schulze Single Transferable Vote system.

First Past the Post voting is pretty heinous. It's partially what gave the US its execrable two party system.

https://youtu.be/IELM1hXyQJI I assume that because no one else has posted any of the the information about House of Wolves, folks round these parts have lost interested in Destiny. Justifiably so, since the game offers nothing but pointless grinding, it seems. For those who still can't get enough of the MP grinding, here's a trailer to hype the newest grinding options.

Although I imagine there are others here more in the know, I suspect that they won't go with Pathfinder because there's established RPG intellectual property already called Pathfinder.

When using m+kb, I assume? On my controller it feels no different from the PS3 version.

To be fair, any way in ME 4 that Bioware deals with the problem of the different ME 3 endgame choices would end up contrived. Edit: The Milky Way races may have a fast journey to Andromeda if there's an independent mass relay network set up by Andromedans in Andromeda with a hidden terminus (or two) in the Milky Way that were not affected by the collapse of the Precursor network. Could also be a different way of achieving very fast FTL, too, that links the two galaxies. I just think this solution would be lamer than generation or coldsleep ships.
-
My guess is that it takes place centuries after the events of ME3 and/or the Andromeda colonies of familiar races were established by colonization fleets that left before the events of ME3.

The Rockstar client didn't even detect the problems; I redownloaded as a last resort and it worked. I will be more careful to scrutinize GMG's sales to make sure they're steam or GOG versions; Rockstar's client is janky. That said, GTA V looks beautiful on near-maxed settings and I'm far under the memory limit with most settings maxed; using FSAA rather tha MSAA due to CPU load, and a few other settings are at Very High because the Ultra setting doesn't add much but cost a shitload of fps. It's silky smooth and I am looking forward to getting back into next week.

Got it up and running (I had to re-download because some files were corrupted), and it runs on high settings on my PC very well. Gonna enjoy going through it again with better graphics and some of the expanded gameplay options.

There are a number of dumb issues with getting GTA V running on PC. Most involve shenanigans with the Rockstar Social program and the Rockstar download manager fucking up the download, I believe.

Just getting a chance to try it out and it seems I'm being hit with an annoying bug that does not allow me to proceed past the loading screen.

There are many indirect references in the first two episodes. The in-universe reason for Hell's Kitchen being so affordable is because it was severely damaged by "space aliens pouring from a hole in the sky," a reference to the Avengers movie. A crimelord also makes a statement that he loves when superheroes (though he doesn't use that word) cause a lot of damage because it means his profits go up. There are other references, too. The whole Netflix MCU is built around street-level heroes that deal with human (ish) local threats rather than alien invasions, shadowy Nazi-esque cabals seeking to control the world, or whatever stupid villains feature in the Iron Man movies.

Dean: A shitload of filming happens in NYC. You can hardly go a day without seeing dressing room trailers and craft services setups. I think that actual filming generally happens early in the morning or late at night. Daredevil was shot here, though I recall reading they substitute Brooklyn/Queens for Hell's Kitchen, because Hell's Kitchen is full of tourists and midtown finance bros, along with a growing contingent of wealthy gay men (some of whom are also the finance bros). It's known for being full of bars that cater to bros and tourists, and it can get rowdy like any areas filled with drunk folks. So it doesn't look like the sort of industrial/gritty dockland Daredevil pretends it is. I'm fairly certain all of the Netflix MCU shows will be shot in NYC, too. NYC is so film-friendly, it often stands in for other, supposedly cheaper, major US cities. For example, the popular legal drama the Good Wife is shot here, though it takes place in Chicago. That Ant-Man trailer looks good. I hope the movie is up to snuff after all the writer and director changes.

I don't have any problems with slippery buttons on the DS3, but I also feel like I've been habituated to bad gamepads due to my more than a decade-long use of cheap logitech gamepads, as I only first connected my DS3 to my PC last August. I'll add a Dualshock 4 to my list of gaming wants and will most likely get one sometime in June, as I am swamped for the next month and a half.

I get it, it's just funny to me. It does not hamper the extent to which I enjoy the show, though. I don't expect the MCU to reflect real locations, though I would enjoy if Marvel would generally take into account how NYC has changed and updated some of its NYC heroes and locations to reflect the modern city. There are huge swaths of the city ripe for storytelling; Brooklyn is the largest borough, and Queens is not far behind, but everything is centered on touristy parts of Manhattan. I especially think it would be nice if the Spider Man re-reboot takes into account Spidey's Queens roots and focuses on him patrolling the outer, dangerous, areas of Brooklyn and Queens that are ignored by the Avengers. Daredevil would also benefit from taking that direction, since that's what his roots are; when the character premiered, Hell's Kitchen was a rough area in Manhattan that he took under his wing. A modern Daredevil would be more likely to take up crimefighting in the Bronx or the Brooklyn neighborhood of East New York.

Is Cox playing DD close to how he's written in the comics? I've watched the first two episodes and Matt Murdock seems like a cipher; I can't imagine how Foggy became friends with him. As a New Yorker and a lawyer, I think it's hilarious that two fresh-from-the-bar attorneys could find and finance an office in Hell's Kitchen, which, in reality, is super expensive real estate. I also think it's hilarious that it's somehow remained a rough area in the MCU, when, in reality, it's been an expensive area without any real poor population for a couple decades. I get that the events of the Avengers led to a lot of damage to Hell's Kitchen, but it doesn't explain how ingrained the local poor community and crime community is; did all the bad guys and poor folks move in immediately after the events of Avengers? It's also odd the Hell's Kitchen would be singled out for destruction when it's on the other side of Manhattan from where the portal opened and most of the action in Avengers occurred; Stark Tower is, apparently, located on the East Side above Grand Central, while Hell's Kitchen in on the West Side. It's also 100% obvious that they filmed most of the outdoors Hell's Kitchen scenes in Brooklyn or Queens, both of which, in reality, offer neighborhoods far more likely to harbor ethnic criminal syndicates and small law firms established by recent graduates than anywhere south of 110th street in Manhattan. I also wonder why they didn't run the firm out of Murdock's swanky apartment; that's more typically how new small firms get their start in NYC.

I am pretty happy with my DS3 and completely uninterested in controlling my PC with a gamepad's trackpad. How are the sticks and triggers on the DS4 miles ahead, Ethan?

How much better than the DS3 is the DS4? Is it worth buying a DS4 for PC gaming if I already have a DS3? By the way, I set up my BT dongle for use with my DS3 the other night. I spent an hour or so uninstalling and reinstalling drivers, but couldn't get the dongle to recognize the DS3. I gave up and just plugged in my DS3 via USB to play some of Telltale's Game of Thrones. After about 20 minutes, I noticed that I had pulled the USB cable out of the computer; the BT dongle recognized the DS3 without any further problems! No idea why it wasn't working earlier, but now it works like a charm.

No argument from me, TCP.
