  1. I stand by the laugh track comment; it's a crutch for unfunny writing and is prima facie evidence of a show's stupidity. Whether a person thinks such shows are fun is a separate matter.
  2. It's true; bad and stupid things can be fun. But I cannot imagine why anyone would think 2 Broke Girls is fun.
  3. If it has a laugh track and has had new episodes since 2004, it's a stupid TV show. Though a show isn't good by virtue of lacking a laugh track; New Girl is utterly unfunny shit.
  4. "Danielle" Radcliffe. I think it'd be cool if Spidey was one of a wave of low-level local superheros that appeared as a reaction to the existence of the Avengers focusing on world-ending threats. He should be young and not established. I have no preference as to whether it's Miles or Peter.
  5. The Sinister Six movie was and remains a terrible idea. I wonder if rumors of it were just a negotiation ploy for Sony so that it would look like SOny had real plans for the franchise. This merging is the best thing to happen to cine-Spidey since Raimi's Spiderman 2.
  6. Anybody doing Steam broadcasting? I've opened up my settings so anyone who's friended me can watch, if that's your thing.

I've been watched a couple of times, but the one time I tried to get into a buddy's stream it didn't work. I'll probably pop in for some of that CK snooping during some idle time. Anyone can feel free to check my stream when I'm on as well.

I actually don't think the comments pop up, by the way. It might just be because I was logged into the chat on a laptop, but there were no popups on screen when stuff was typed.

  7. Man, console gaming sure is simpler and much less glitchy than PC gaming. I don't think i can stand waiting until all the eps are released to buy this....
  8. My favorite part about Netflix Zelda is that it will clearly target 10 year olds but be vociferously defended by adult Ninty diehards as worthwhile. Zelda is the dungeons and puzzles. A Zelda series will be either bad or only tangentially related to the games.
  9. The whole revenue-sharing policy is an artifact of YouTube (and other similar video content hosts') policies that privilege the entity issuing the takedown notice over the poster. This makes sense if the pre-emptive takedowns were of unabashed reproductions or just cold copies of media without any alterations. Nintendo, or any other copyright holder, can bully folks who would be protected under fair use if the issues were litigated.this is especially harmful to new, independent streamers who don't have the money to take legal action against Nintendo or the putative rights holder. I've always thought the burden should remain with the putative rights holder; let the holder prove infringement and then recoup from the infringer for any amounts the infringer was illegally enriched.
  10. Leaked copy of the Season 5 trailer from the IMAX screenings of old episodes. Looks like changes from the book continue to increase. And I am 100% okay with that, despite enjoying the books immensely.
  11. Maybe I'll just wait until episode two to buy the season.... I need my GoT fix!
  12. I am surprised, but it appears the free upgrade offer is good for business ("enterprise") customers, too. The post does have a caveat that "some editions are excluded." It's not clear whether that's editions of Windows 10 that won't be available for free or that some editions of 7 and 8 aren't eligible for the free upgrade. I imagine that the free upgrade may be to a hobbled or barebones Windows 10 that lacks important features.
  13. There are many towns in the U.S. named Worcester and pronounces "wuhster." Named reading and pronounced "redding," too. But we also have towns named things like New Berlin and pronounced "Nooberlin." And I know two towns named Medina, but one is pronounced "mah-die-nah" and the other "medeena."
  14. Season 2 of OitNB has lots of problems, but I enjoyed it.
  15. Nintendo is all about the fanservice.
  16. Strikes are largely ineffective when there are 100 scabs with experience waiting to jump in for every single food service job. The transaction costs of unionizing low-wage, low-skill, high-turnover jobs are pretty much insurmountable. Workers can't afford dues, can't afford to strike, and federal laws don't necessarily apply to small-chains or non-chain restaurants or even franchises, so the NLRB can't be of much help. Even when it does help striking fast food workers (who are not tipped), it prompts endless calls for changing the law from the GOP to make it even more owner-friendly. I can do a detailed writeup for you later, since I'm at work right now. But, really, your argument against comes off as uninformed and cruel.
  17. Blizzard is the Nintendo of PC gaming, Cowboy.
  18. Fair enough. I am skeptical. If we get Sid Meier's FTL, though, I will be a very happy man.
  19. But it was limited compared to the PC version, I am told.
  20. PC, Android, and iOS availability is a dead giveaway.
  21. ITT: ThursdayNext trying out for the role of Mr. Pink in the remake of Reservoir Dogs. But, seriously; because you have a problem with the system you end up punishing those who have very little to no power to change it when you don't leave a tip. Your grievance is with the owner class, yet the pain is felt by the workers. I understand you are a lawyer; please, please, please don't think that obligates you to sociopathy. We get a bad enough rap as it is.
  22. I suspect it will be f2p and will therefore suck nasty balls.
  23. How does it work when you have your waiter/waitress take your order, check on you, offer refills etc but someone else brings you the food? Do they get a share of the tip? I think they must pool tips. Everyone puts their tips in the pot and then it gets split at the end of the night. I think credit card tips get split at the next paycheck, with taxes withheld. I think, though I've never worked in a restaurant myself, usualyy the majority goes to the waitstaff and a significant cut goes to the kitchen.barbacks/bouncers/etc. I know there are laws in many places that govern exactly how this works. I know it is illegal in the U.S. (in many states/cities, at least) for salaried management or the house to get a cut of the tips if the waitstaff are not paid minimum wage. I think fancier restaurants may do it differently
  24. Coat room attendants actually vary. I've had them refuse tips at a variety of places, from museums to restaurants. I upon reflection, I think they're tipped positions at fussy and stodgy places, like country clubs and athletic clubs. You really should tip the 20% on food delivery in the US. Otherwise you're really acting like a jerk.
  25. Happy birthday, Grimueax!
