  1. Preordered this badass motherfucker.
  2. What about this impressive video game engine?
  3. Might as well get a whole PC, then, Cowboy. Slippery slope from keyboard to gaming PC.
  4. MMOs traditionally have somewhat limited or no voice acting. It would be expensive to re-record lines every time a quest gets tweaked. Also pointless to record dialog for every 'Kill ten wolves and bring me their pelts" type of quest, which make up the majority of MMO quests.
  5. So hyped for Rome 2. Haters to the left.

PC hardware is indeed more expensive, but I'm baller and can afford the higher prices for quality products and a better gaming experience. I don't get the hatred of Windows; pretty much all OSes are equally shit, just different flavors.

Yeah, like FDS said Linux is not anything like user friendly, and between OSX and Windows it's just whichever you're used to.

  6. I've been revisiting Skyrim now that I have Dawnguard and Dragonborn, and a host of other graphical improvement mods.. I forgot how much I like just exploring Skyrim, and how there's so fucking much to do.
  7. KOTOR was marketed to folks who Wanted The Old Republic 3. When we bought it and saw that it was just another MMO witth he same shitty gameplay as every other MMO, with the added bonus of MMO dilution of player-centered stories, well, we fucking canceled our goddamned subscriptions. The things many, many folks love about single-player RPGS are mooted by the MMO format. TESO will have the same sort of problems.
  8. If anyone wants my code for Red Alert 3 - Uprising for Steam or Origin, let me know.
  9. I think there could be some interesting gameplay systems designed around the player and enemies getting weaker as the take more damage, as you say. It may even be asymmetrical. For example, your attacks don't get weaker per se, but you have to expend significant resources at the beginning of the battle to weaken powerful enemies, but once those resources are spent, you must deal with the weakened enemy in a different, hopefully non-trivial way. A lot of strategy games that aren't Starcraft-style RTS do feature units taking damage getting progressively weaker, like the Total War series and Gratuitous Space Battles.
  10. B2P with purchasable cosmetics. Then again, we're talking about an MMO, so it will be terrible regardless.
  11. Tying the the sale of a currently struggling console to a game on a previous struggling console, eh? The Wii U will surely break all the sales records now!
  12. Wisconsin is the drunkest state. Strange folks don't know that.
  13. Like all launch lists, that looks pretty anemic.
  14. Languages like English? Every language is like English in that it's a language. Languages that are similar to English still require localization. Fuck, I think they may even localize English language games for specific countries to account for differences in spelling and vocabulary.
  15. Nine feet may work. Tough to tell since we haven't nailed down the layout of the apartment. Ideally, I'd be maximum four feet from the screen while gaming, but I'd likely move back further for TV and movies.
  16. That's an interesting game... I'm adding it to my wishlist. I assume you have to look for inconsistencies or discrepancies yourself? There seems to be a "show discrepancies" option and wouldn't that take the fun away from the game? No, because everything is timed and the 'show discrepancies' feature takes a bunch of time to process and use. Faster to let your trained eyes flick across the relevant data points. And you don't always have access to the 'show discrepancies' machine.
  17. So I'm moving in with my girlfriend next month and am looking for good wireless headphones (mic optional) for my PC gaming. Being able to use the headphones for regular television would be a plus. My gaming PC will be connected to our living room television, and I have no other audio equipment (i.e., no receiver, no stereo system). My budget is $50 to $150. I might be able to deal with a wired headset with a long (twelve-foot) cord. Any suggestions?
  18. Fuck. Pretty much gotta get Gone Home *now*, or else somebody will undoubtedly spoil it for me.

Shit, I hadn't even thought of that... damnit.

How is it more likely to be spoiled than any other game?

Because pretty much anything one can say about it, aside from a top-level description, would be a spoiler.

  19. I like your new comp, Atomsk88. The case is fine. Not a huge fan of transparent panels and the like, but tit's nice, overall. I'm a fan of the black box cases, since they look professional.
  20. Just got the Origin humble bundle. Now I can try Dead Space 3 and Mirror's Edge.
  21. Well, for folks like myself, if the PC version were released within a couple of months of the console version, I'd definitely get the PC version. I don't understand why Rockstar would prefer to sell a console copy of GTAV over a PC copy. Indeed, the PC copy is much more difficult for the consumer to resell (and then only boxed versions can be resold), so I would imagine Rockstar would prefer more initial copies to be sold on PC. Maybe they hope to make some folks buy the games twice, once for console, and once for PC, but that doesn't seem like it would net Rockstar all that much money.
  22. I'm just happy to know this will probably be out on PC before too long, so I don't have to deal with an ugly console version. I do hate how Rockstar only does PC versions via stealth. I wonder why they don't announce PC versions until after console versions ship. I suspect they have some sort of deal with Sony and/or MS to only promote for console or face some sort of penalty, but I'm not sure why Rockstar would agree to such a thing.
  23. It's interesting to hear that the next gen consoles will stream, but not necessarily pre-load. The functional difference is that streaming requires some sort of decent connection speed (if it allows for anything near *immediate* play), while you could pre-load on a crappy connection, so long as the pre-load starts a few days before release. I also tend to think that having hundreds of thousands of folks streaming a game at once would be tough on the hosting servers. But I'm sure Sony and MS have that all figured out and there won't be any major issues with release day streaming services, nope, no issues at all, it will all be good, because Sony and Microsoft surely have everything under control. Trust Sony and/or MS, is all I'm saying.
  24. Yeah, games are huge. But hard drives are cheap and also huge. Biggest issue folks will face, whether on PC or on a next-gen console, is how long it will take to download a game. Edit: And, of course, whether you'll hit a bandwidth cap, if you have a shitty ISP with bandwidth caps. Any word on whether Sony or MS will allow pre-caching of donwload games before release?
  25. PS+ isn't free, last I heard. And all those non-strategy multiplat games look pretty fantastic on my PC in 1080p. It's one of the reasons I haven't turned on my 360 in years and my PS3 in months.
