I have wondered the same. And I now I know - about 60% of what you look like, thanks to your tee thread. I would have known about 20% more, but noo, Mister Jack had to go and remind you to preserve your Tali-ness before I got there.

Sober survival horror? I don't know if I can! Maybe next Halloween.

Stargate was the first PG-13 movie I ever saw, in 4th grade I think. I was so proud of that fact, until everyone laughed at the fact I was proud I had seen my first PG-13 movie, when they'd been watching R movies since they were five. Sad day. I've never watched any of the series, though I wanted to when I was younger (and did not have cable).

Been too lazy to grab pics from Facebook, but now that I'm procrastinating, here it is. Same picture I posted in this thread on the old-new forum. But I look different in basically every picture, so I guess it doesn't really matter.

[SPLIT] What Does Your Internet-Self Look Like?
TheForgetfulBrain replied to Jacques's topic in Off-Topic
My internet self can be found on the left. Actually, it's a fairly lifelike depiction. Or at least, it will be eventually. -
I just picked up Just Cause 2 (it was cheap enough) and Beat Hazard. Beat Hazard is damn fun, though my WASD fingers got pretty cramped up after an hour or so.

The story is too much a turn off for me to consider the game, even though it has pretty visuals.

The weather is gooooood. It very rarely (once every 25 years or so) snows in San Francisco, but it's raining, and rain I like. Yayrain.

I was somewhat disappointed. I bought the game on Halloween weekend, started drinking scotch and played it for a few hours. During that time, I was never really freaked out. I thought it would come on like Silent Hill - eventually, to the point where I can't bring myself to play the game anymore, I'm so freaked out. But it didn't happen while I played. I suppose I'll have to give it another shot eventually.

Not hacked, just a difficult situation. My last X-Box red ringed, and when they sent me a new one, the DRM didn't transfer properly so I don't have access to any of my old XBLA games and haven't tried any new ones. After that I let my XBL sub expire and to plug it into the internet anyway, I need to switch the cable from my desktop, which is a huge pain in the ass. So I've basically given up on gaming online for my Xbox.

Ohh. Interesting - I didn't realize that. I didn't like Killing Floor much when I played it, but the trailer for the event looks pretty incredible.

I would love to play this game with you folks - been too long since I've played a game with a steady community - but my Xbox just isn't in the state to play anything but offline disc games. Booo. I guess I'll see if there's anyone in the PC thread for this.

My mom became a huge Star Trek fan when I was about 3 or 4 or so - not to the point of going to conventions all dressed up (I mean, we lived in the middle of nowhere), but seeing pretty much every episode etc of the various series. So by proxy, I'm a pretty big fan too. I really liked the J.J. reboot, but I absolutely hope the show returns to its original medium of television soon, and in top form. IMO, with so much of the original team dead or scattered, Bryan Fuller (of Wonderfalls, Dead Like Me, Pushing Daisies fame) would be the perfect person, as he got his start by getting his fan script submissions made into episodes for Deep Space Nine and then wrote like half of Voyager (which, I am aware is not a favorite among fans, but it sure was better than the garbage that the most recent 'Enterprise' was). Plus, he's expressed interest - so fingers crossed that pops up sometime.

Netflix Instant Shows/Movies
TheForgetfulBrain replied to Minirova's topic in Entertainment Exchange
According to Netflix, there's going to be a whooooole lot more available on instant soon, as they're starting to move away from disc media and toward instant. I'm pretty stoked by that idea - it's great to be able to find something to watch at your whim. I just hope they don't eventually change their pricing model so that there is a cap on what you can watch instantly - I don't think they would do that. Although Comcast might force them to if that case goes through... Fucking Comcast. On-Topic: My queue is ridiculously large - stuff that is available is always going off the service before I get to it. I've been stoked the Dr. Who Specials are on there (the most recent ones), as I've been wanting to catch up on those and have the latest season on disc waiting at home. -

It's a beautiful day for a stroll in the radioactive wasteland. -
Killing Floor Event Pyro unlocks, jess?

Call of Duty, like Avatar, like Sam Worthington - all very easy to hate on. Hard to love. But we do. Oh, we do.

I was just about to post this. Is anyone going to get it for PC that already has it on Xbox? I've been wanting to play this game, but my DRM on my Xbox is messed up, so I never did. Going to pre-order this tomorrow probably. Supposedly there's a Beta that starts this week or next, if pre-ordered.

I had the same issue. Once I got to Denerim, I just got overwhelmed by the mass of quests and places to go and stopped. I tend to do that lately with open-world RPGs, etc - get overwhelmed and stopped. It took me till a few months ago, a full year later, for me to start playing it again. And I quickly fell right back in love - boy, was that game amazing. The ending truly felt epic - and not in the overused sense of the word, but in that you really feel like you made an impact on the world. It was great. I didn't finish Awakenings though - hardly played it. For some reason, I just couldn't get into it. Despite all the loathing people have for DA2, due to how it's changing, I really don't mind. I loved the first one, I'm sure I'll love this one too. And change can be a good thing in sequels. I mean, Awakenings was basically DA, but more of it, and that didn't really do it for me - so I'm optimistic about the change.

The first BC was pretty much my favorite MP shooter of all time. It didn't have all the bells and whistles of the CoD games, but the enviro destruction added so much, altering the strategy every time you played the same map. I loved it. Unfortunately, after I maxed out level in BC2, it didn't have the same staying power for me. I also didn't like the single player's tone as much as the first game (though these games really aren't about the SP, as much as they'd like to be - though Vietnam might be different on that front). I might give it another shot though if I pick up the expansion. I've got it on PC.

I came aboard the series at World at War, when Treyarch had the multiplayer Beta on the consoles (something they REALLY should have had for Black Ops). Got hooked, loved the game, loved zombies. Ended up buying it for 360 and PS3 just to play it with different friends. Didn't much touch the single player, however - it didn't really hold my attention. Later bought MW for the PS3 and PC, but preferred WaW's multiplayer (believe it or not). Still need to finish the Single Player - the 'modern war' setting just isn't too appealing to me, in terms of subject matter. Bought MW2 for the multiplayer (never once touched single player) and enjoyed it quite a bit, prestiged for the first time. Even joined a clan (F*gs with Guns, a gay gaming group - I'm not gay, but I figured it would be a good place to go to try and avoid the rampant bigotry I kept running into in random matches). Xbox died though, and then my disc got scratched, so that was it for me till Black Ops. Black Ops I got on the PC - and aside from all the rampant PC multiplayer issues, it's been great. First CoD game I've finished the single player in - the more 'blockbuster-almost-sci-fi' story appealed to me more (yep) and I'm a sucker for Sam Worthington, shoddy accent or no). I'm actually renting a server for Kotakuites folks - Dean's got it listed on the Steam page - but it's been an utter failure. Empty all the time, as getting enough Kotakuites folks that play Black Ops together has not been successful. I bought it for three months though, so I'll probably give it a more serious try at some point.

What are you currently playing?
TheForgetfulBrain replied to Cyber Rat's topic in General Gaming Chat
I started my GameFly sub again, with the intention of wading through all the games I've missed over the past year. Slogging through Dante's Inferno right now. It's... ehh. -
Gah, accidentally erased my reply. I guess I am including the End of Time - that's the two parter, right? I've watched The Last Doctor and The Planet of the Dead, so I have the other special and then the two parter.

Being from the US, I didn't watch Who as a kid - rather, I had Star Trek. Became introduced to the show with Christopher Eccleston (sp?), and despite the silly effects and occasionally cheesy bits, fell in love with the show. David Tennant IS the Doctor, to me. I mean, he's just absolutely brilliant. He is. So of course the moment I saw the mug shot for Matt Smith, the actor to replace Tennant, I went mad for a good while. Anyway, I've had time to cool off, and now recall how skeptical I was about Tennant replacing Eccleston - and look how that turned out. Last month, I FINALLY finished Tennant's last season, and I have three more specials to go, and the first Matt Smith Netflix disc waiting at my house after that. Going to finally catch up this week and see, I suppose. While apprehensive, I'm also fairly excited - I've heard some pretty good things about the latest season, so I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. That said, I sort of skipped the other posts in this thread, and will, until I catch up - don't want to spoil anything by accident, on account of my not being caught up.
