  1. This album just came on. The first two tracks are mellow and swell and lead into each other quite well. And here they are in one convenient youtube package.
  2. Even for big strong bad men, it's not so unusual to have a good cry at certain movies or books - but tell the average person a game made you shed some salty water and you'll get all sorts of strange looks. But bugger that! What games have done this for you? Don't forget your spoiler tags if it involves a major plot point (FFVII excluded). I know it's happened for me on numerous occasions, one within the last year or so, but for the life of me I can't think of which game it was right now. Just for good measure though, when I was a kid there was a Sierra Online adventure game I realllly loved called 'Ecoquest' where you're this kid who swims around in the ocean somehow with this dolphin doing adventure-like stuff in order to save said ocean (or something like that). When I finally finished the game and your character is parting with the dolphin, I remember crying, but mostly because I was sad the game was ending and I felt like I was losing a friend or something. (I was eight or so and in touch with my emotions, what can I say)
  3. I can't get her face out of my head at 1:16. The whole thing reminds me of sad karaoke. Like the scene at the beginning of Slither. YouTube has failed me in this instance. You'd just have to see it - which you should. Awesome comedy-horror-gross-out film... and it has Nathan Fillion. And Pam from the Office. And Elizabeth Banks. And Michael Rooker. And it's directed by James Gunn. Etc. All around awesome. /off-topic Also this old Daily Show segment on her stuff is all sorts of weird. http://www.thedailyshow.com/watch/mon-may-1-2000/jan-terri--video-vanguard
  4. I couldn't watch that. Show not only disturbed the hell out of me, it was super depressing. I watched the first four or five episodes to the first 'ending' or whatever (I still don't understand how the structure of that show was supposed to work, even after going on Wikipedia) and just couldn't go on.
  5. Ohh, weird, I didn't know they removed that. I remember seeing it though, so I've had in my head the sale was starting the 20th since. I'm hoping for a lot of things... gurp. Not to mention one of my friends finally got Steam, so I'm gonna be buying him a bunch of cheap crap.
  6. Am I correct in guessing the old forum is going to stay alive, solely on the activity in the Minecraft thread? Also, I finally caved and got it. One of these days I may have to request whitelist access and join you all in your creation madness, but first I've got to find the time to actually figure out how to play the game. Probably a good laptop game for while I'm back home - I'll have to install it there before I leave.
  7. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dSgcfMZg1Kw Was listening to the end of a Rachel's song that reminded me of one of my favorite anime EDs. Frickin' gorgeous, trust me, it's worth your minute and a half. I'm getting chills listening to it again right now, but I suppose it could also just be cold.
  8. I wish they'd release the frickin PC version already. My friend who is the huge Fable fan (he played the first one maybe fifteen, twenty times since it's been released - not kidding) and also rather liked Fable II (unlike me, but that's due to a game killing glitch, mostly), rented Fable III from Gamefly, raved about it to me, then returned it in disgust after a little way in without finishing it - I guess he hated how simplified it was, and complained that without earning XP, killing random enemies was more irritating than anything else and that at the end of the day, you can only run around in a chicken suit for so long before you get bored. I don't know - I'm still ready to give it a proper chance... If it ever hits the freaking PC, that is.
  9. Shit. I've bought so many games already in the past few weeks. Too many. And here it goes again...
  10. I'm pretty sure there was a Rune Factory game for Wii, I would recommend that. The RF series adds some light dungeon crawling/RPG elements that keep things interesting. I also like the art style better. I LOVE Dorothy, she is adorable. Every single quest for her had me bawing. Yeah, I've heard good things about Rune Factory. I might have to give it a shot if I find it on sale one of these days.
  11. Oh yeah - Starcraft II for me as well. I haven't bought it, even though a part of me feels like I should. I'm horrible at RTS games. I discovered this after I would build this nifty base with some really cool walls and a bunch of structures and then I'd get trampled by a massive mob wave. Also, getting zerged in MP games. Not so fun. I frickin' love turn-based strategy RPG games though, like Might and Magic Heroes, etc. So good. Also, I said Minecraft, but I just bought it today. Just in case I ever want to play it when it's even more 'finished' in a few years.
  12. I came on at Harvest Moon 64. That game was amazing. I loved it a ridiculous amount. Playing that game when it was raining, then having it rain in the game as well and deciding to stay in or go farming anyway was the ultimate cozy to me. I was really disappointed with the next game they released though, for PS2. You could only play it for one in-game year, and then had to start over again. Such a let-down after being able to go on practically forever. I haven't played any others since. Have there been any worth buying? I have a Wii, so technically that means I could get one of the Gamecube ones if I bought a GC controller somehow.
  13. Haha, oh god. For a moment I thought I was in the 'what are you listening to' thread and was worried.
  14. I love this. Regarding me - my older sister owns a web design business. It's tiny. Three programmers, one designer and my sister who does everything, because she's insane, doesn't need to sleep or eat, has been micro-managing her whole life and pulled straight A's all throughout college. I, on the other hand, get to sit in front of my computer in pajamas all day, as I slowly expand my waist line with beer, shitty food and a lack of exercise. The downside is, when I say all-day, I do mean all-day. Standard hours are 8am - to 6pm, but they often spill over, sometimes back into the AM. Things become fairly hellish on deadline and you start to go a little mad from trying to remember all these random things you need to do so that a client doesn't go apeshit and decide they're not going to pay because of one tiny mistake and lose your company thousands of dollars that it really, really needs. Good ol' rage inducing clients. We also do a bunch of sub-contracting work for this company that gives us a tiny slice of cash, while we earn them tens of thousands of dollars while the websites we build earn their clients hundreds of thousands of dollars. Yay for the corporate food chain. Which we're not allowed to take credit for. BOO. Because I've totally programmed franchise webpages for massive companies - which should be awesome, but I'm not supposed to talk about it. Sometimes I feel like a lame version of Bruce Wayne
  15. They imply he is confused, not that he is gay. So at the end of that arc he decides that he's not actually gay, he just wants to be accepted and some such and not fulfilling traditional male roles made that difficult (ie being manly etc) I was a bit dissapointed with that, if only because they'd just decide oh no I do actually like girls instead of leaving it ambiguous--maybe i like both? etc That's a bummer. I think they were on the cusp of doing something really great there.
  16. How about Persona 4? I never finished the game due to my saves being wiped out, but where I was in it I hadn't quite figured out if Kanji was in the closet or he finally just admitted there were some softer aspects to him, and that was all there was to it. I really wanted him to turn out to be actually gay though - seemed like it would have been another bold and mature move on the part of Atlus.
  17. and on the cusp of Beta, I finally did it - I bought Minecraft. Just in case.

  18. You're going to love it. The lack of scopes for classes except the sniper is great and everything feels a lot more fair and balanced, accurate even. I'm glad I bought the expansion, but it's too bad there's not more folks here with it on the PC.
  19. Just played it on Steam. Only for a little bit, but I've got to say, the new squad dm maps are pretty excellent. Anyone else on PC getting this? Add me! 'Carrot' in game with a [k] clan tag I think.
  20. Laura Bow is one of the series I never played, but just watched the whole thing and that was pretty great. I miss the snarky/witty writing and the midi of the era.
  21. You know, I kind of love that there's so many holiday events, updates and sales I can't possible cover them all.
  22. About an hour out of being officially off for the day, and I am looking forward to it. Sunday, I have to study like a mad man for my Statistics final, but tonight I think I'll stay in and enjoy the rain - order some Chinese food, watch some Season Two Fringe and possibly try and beat Dante's Inferno (so I can send discs back to Netflix and Gamefly). Tomorrow, there will be sleeping in and who knows what else. What are folks plans for the weekend? Anyone traveling home for the holiday? Are some folks working because it's the weekend? What say ye!
