I think Star Trek is a better series for people who want more out of their series without having to put all that time into reading the extended galaxy. You get more chances to see your characters and their personalities and all that. I know you get to see them in the extended galaxy as well (Like when Chewie dies. Goddamn that's sad...), but it's a different experience in the reading category and the visual category.
