  1. http://www.bbc.co.uk...d-asia-19780692 I'll never tell anyone what they can or can't believe in, but seriously, it's just a fucking book. Burning books is not cool, but looting and burning villages is a teensy bit worse in my opinion. These people really need to get some perspective. Allah, Jehovah et al are all reportedly quite capable of doing their own smiting if they feel the need. Link works fine for me. Trying a tiny URL just in case: http://tinyurl.com/8scopr9 Maybe it's a BBC thing?
  2. I was wondering about the ginger prejudice too. I hear the phrase "red-hedded step child" from Americans, and the gingers have no souls thing was done by South Park. Maybe it's just a very recent development. Video related:

Haha. WOW! Dudes, it's little pictures of smiley faces. Dean was only using it as an example of how Apple exclusive features can have a negative impact (albeit tiny) on people who are not part of the Apple ecosystem. Yes there are worse examples. And yes, I'm sure Android, WP7, BB, Symbian, etc are not entirely immune to this. It was just a quick example that he had stumbled across at the time.

It is a nitpick I agree. But it's still a peeve when going through twitter to get a tweet from a friend saying "Such a bad day. Really need a ???" Need a what? Hug? Pint of lager? Coffee? Bath? Chat?
  6. Haha. I always approve of the use of pleb.
  7. It's the sir bit that really niggles though. The whole gentlemanly, cap-doffery bs.
  8. "Good sir" I hate when people say that. It's patronising, snobbish, elitist and usually used by people who don't have the balls to tell someone that they think is a dick, "I think you are a dick."
  9. For games I have dubs and subs in English otherwise I tend to miss stuff. For foreign language films, if I'm watching one on my own, I'll definitely go with subs. My friends hate subs though so if I'm watching with them, or if I've got the film on in the background while I'm doing other stuff, like playing on my vita or whatever, then I'll go with the dub. Studio Ghibli dubs are usually pretty good imho.
  10. I've actually taken to turning my phone off when out with friends. It removes the temptation to check and see if I have any new texts, tweets, emails etc.
  11. I'd be demanding my 17 minutes back at the very least otherwise I would upgrade my condition to "somewhat disgruntled".
  12. Just watched the Muhammed Movie Trailer thing. My word that is an awful thing. I want to riot now.
  13. Wasn't trying to suggest underhandedness. From what I can see, most of MS third party exclusives are either timed or they are the smaller indie titles, same with PlayStation. Generally, I've noted a trend for perceived platform exclusives (e.g. Final Fantasy), to go multiplatform, taking an established IP to a broader audience. This seems to be going in the opposite direction. Taking established property and then confining it to a single platform.
  14. I suppose he is thinking that the fire will consume the oxygen, suffocating you. Of course, there's the masks that drop down to provide breathable air (or anaesthetic if you believe the tin-foil-hatters).
  15. Ninty don't seem to get third party.A third party publisher doesn't really want to do exclusive games. The whole point of being third party is that you have the whole marketplace to operate in. Paring that down by up to 2/3 is just not good business sense, especially taking into account the fact that third party software sales on Nintendo hardware tend to be rubbish. Not only that but they are waaaaaaay too cagey with their tech it's not unheard of for third parties to learn about features after the hardware is on the market. I've yet to meet someone who really "gets" what Nintendo are doing with Online. I'm not sure even Nintendo do, so they lose a lot of support. I can see this console being another Gamecube.

I tend to use my phone for social/productivity apps rather than games. The games I do have tend to be single player ones for when I am bored and on my own. For me Android does the job and I have more choice in handsets etc. Plus, I'm in the Android ecosystem now and am loathe to re-buy apps by switching to iOS. I'm sure the same is true for iOS users. It's a similar story with Xbox / PS gaming. All my games are on PSN (or rather SEN) so I'm unlikely to switch.
  17. It's de rigueur to be non-plussed by tech announcements. See iPhone 5 and WiiU for prime examples.
  18. You'd be surprised how many girls would respond positively to the first one.
  19. But they've obviously already made the puzzles or at least they'll have made them in batches of say, a week of content so by this logic you should get pissed off with them for not releasing all 7 puzzles at the start of the week. I get that it's frustrating to have content so near and yet so far, but really so long as it is free (and in my opinion even if it is not) where's the harm in making you wait?
  20. Certainly think there is a place in the market for this, it's a family friendly console all the way, from not hogging the TV to having "GTA Junior" as one of the lead titles. I'm just not the target market for this and the lip-service to the core provided by Activision was not that impressive.
  21. It all feels a bit kiddy-console with a couple of bones thrown to the grown ups. I'm not going to look down my nose at anyone who enjoys playing these games, but they are not to my taste. I wasn't a fan of Bayonetta either (I thought the enemy designs were a mess and lacked character) and Monster Hunter while ok on PSP was a bit of a sterile experience and never grabbed me like I hoped it would. Overall, I didn't see anything that excited me.
  22. Only thing that looked remotely interesting was Nintendo TVii and I watch bollocks all TV, besides which it's NA only. Most games were the usual Wii cartoony stuff. Which is ok in small doses, but not really my thing. Activision's offerings looked like arse. Bond and CoD both look like the sort of games we saw on Xbox and PS3 at the start of the hardware generation. All in all for £300 quid, I'll just wait for PS4. 2/10 would not bang.
