  1. @Dean: Wanting to avoid spoilers and still enjoying something you already know the plot of aren't mutually exclusive. The surprise factor of experiencing something unspoiled has value, as does experiencing something when already knowing what's going to happen. The problem is once you know the plot you can't ever un-know it, so you can't ever have that unspoiled experience again (or at all if you get spoiled before the first time). If you're unspoiled the first time though you can always go back as many times as you want and re-experience it with that knowledge. Basically if you're spoiled you lose something that you can never get back, but if you go in unspoiled you don't miss out on anything.
  2. See I really liked Shadow Fall, but I did not really like Killzone 2 or 3 (the encounter design just was not fun) so that might have something to do with it.
  3. I think the "old trick" thing was just Coulson fucking with them.
  4. I loved SR3, but did not care for SR4. I just found it boring, and it couldn't hold my interest. I think part of that was the superpowers being just a step too far and part was what they did to the style of the world you're in.
  5. I'm still working my way through Fallout 4. My goal is to finish it before 2016.
  6. Somehow I missed these when they were first posted. Typically I'm fine with not worrying about how that kind of thing works, the exception being when they explain how it works. Once they've explained it then I expect it to behave in accordance with the explanation. TCP's explanation is good enough for me though.
  7. My sister got me Pandemic Legacy for Christmas. Of our group (me, my wife, my two sisters and my wife's brother) my wife and I were the only ones who'd ever played Pandemic before, and we'd only played once, so we ran a couple non-Legacy games yesterday afternoon to familiarize ourselves before we start the Legacy campaign. Lost the first one, won the second, but both were insanely close. The first game we would have won on the next player's turn, but at the end of my turn (I was right before the player with the cards to cure the final disease) we got an unlucky draw that caused two outbreaks, the second of which put us over the edge. The second game was equally close, but the other way: at the point that we cured the final disease there were at least 4 different hotspots in the world that would have put us over the edge if any of them had been drawn. All in all a fun evening. Wish I'd taken pictures. One thing I especially liked about it was that even though it's technically a max of 4 players it's really easy to play as teams, since it's a cooperative game and 90% of the "play" isn't actually making your move but discussing with everyone else what you should do. I think we're going to do a couple more practice games next weekend and then start the campaign.
  8. Oh yeah, I have heard of that, but I haven't tried it.
  9. If that was the "coincidence" then you're right, it makes sense, but they should have done something to encourage us to draw that connection (not saying they needed to spell it out, but I saw it twice and that never even occurred to me).
  10. I don't even know what the game previews are.
  11. ^ Not technically a spoiler, but enough to allow someone to infer some spoilers.
  12. Wow, that's a weird system. At Walmart if you order it for store pickup they actually set one aside for you for that order, and hold it for like 10 days.
  13. So I can now confirm that it is aided by a second viewing (or at least by not having a theater full of annoying people).
  14. To be fair, 3 of my 4 Xbone games are exclusives, which is only one fewer than my 4 PS4 exclusives, it's just that the PS4 is better with pretty much all multiplat games (the one exception being AC Unity for some reason) so that's where I get them.
  15. Just noticed a weird thing: when I put my current gen games in alphabetical order (allowing for series order) they're symmetrical between PS4 and Xbone games. What does it mean?!
  16. I did it. No real tips, other than the obvious back up your saves. Although if you use PS+ and have auto-backup turned on you don't even really need to do that (though I still would just to be safe).
  17. Not technically bought, but I got a pretty good haul for Christmas. Mad Max, Until Dawn, and AC Syndicate. Nice.
  18. Movies (and the rare TV show that is on neither Netflix nor Hulu) are all I pirate anymore.
  19. Tomorrow is the 70mm limited opening at 100 theaters, December 31 is the wide release at regular theaters, at least in the US. *Edit - Just looked into the leak. There's something mildly amusing about people watching a leaked DVD quality screener of a movie that the director made such a big deal about filming in 65mm and showing in 70mm. I probably won't see it in theaters, but will make every effort to acquire a 4k copy of some kind for my home viewing pleasure. And that sentence is probably enough to give Tarantino a heart attack just so he can roll over in his grave.
  20. It's not open to regular release until next week, this week is only the 70mm road show.
